14/11/2019 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Woodbine

Our Canadian racing expert, Ric Chapman, has had a good run of luck at these Woodbine midweek meets. Here’s his look at this week’s races. Good luck.

Race 1 10:45am Synthetic 1700m

Small field should suit ZOOLOGICAL. Drawn perfectly and does look to have too much finishing power for these. BEL BIMBO has the ability to sit off pace at this level and come with a rush. So must be included in the numbers. GIANT CRITIC off this draw probably goes forward and with the snow about that may be a good place to be.

TIPS: (2) ZOOLOGICAL, (1) Giant critic, (3) Bel Bimbo

Race 2 11:15am Synthetic 1100m

AIRY FAIRY will get out in the market but the conditions of this race and the draw mean she comes into play. Despite the big weight. Have in your numbers. The strangely named FAT N BITTER is young and precocious. Should charge forward from the gate as she gets blinkers for the first time and could steal this. DANCE OR STROLL should settle just off the pace and come hard. Has the talent to make an impact.

TIPS: (5) FAT N BITTER, (2) Airy Fairy, (6) Dance Or Stroll

Race 3 11:45am Synthetic 1200m

Interesting race as there is a bit of genuine speed. JUXTAPOSE has talent, and maybe a good bit of it. Strolled in last start and although this is harder, might be the value play as she looks to be improving. DAD’S MISSY hasn’t been served well at the draw but has been working fast and if she gets cover can run on. The money will come for brilliant last start gate-to-wire winner FIESTA IN VEGAS. She will have to be used up with the big weight from this draw but she was impressive.

TIPS: (3) JUXTAPOSE, (6) Fiesta In Vegas, (5) Dad’s Missy

Race 4 12:12pm Mdn 1300m Synthetic

Tough draw for AVIE’S SKY who likes to go hard early. She has talent though and could very easily cross them. Has the best form. BAY HARBOUR has the best jockey and she could come across with Avie’s Sky early. That means she has the option to drop in and may find the coveted one, one sit. Big show. ROYAL MANDATE has talent but in class a bit here. And awkward draw. Still, someone has to run third!

TIPS: (6) BAY HARBOUR, (5) Avie’s Sky, (9) Royal Mandate

Race 5 12:45pm Synthetic 1300m

REXDALE probably drops out early and lets the speedsters go. Did that a few months back in weaker grade but came home like a train to win. PINK SCRIBBLES has the speed and form to be a player in this. If she’s not trapped wide early, she can come home hard too and will be much closer in the run. MARY OF SCOTTS is a talented filly. She probably lets the speed go and stalks them late.

TIPS: (5) PINK SCIBBLES, (8) Mary Of Scotts, (2) Rexdale

Race 6 1:15pm Synthetic 1700m

Off this gate JAMMIN STILL can come out and find a lovely spot in about 3rd or so, which might be best considering there will be snow around. Should be in the finish. Mike De Paulo is having a stellar year. His horses are all racing well and he has two in this. Both will be rushing home hard. They are BLAKEY who is in great form, and RISING STAR who gets the tougher gate. He’s only a 3YO, but if you went off the riders, perhaps Rising Star is best served.

TIPS: (3) JAMMIN STILL, (7) Rising Star, (4) Blakey

Race 7 1:45pm Synthetic 1300m

Off this draw and given his recent very consistent form at this level, you have to have IN MEMORY OF LLOYD in your numbers. He looked home last start but nabbed late giving him 3 x 2nd place finishes in a row. HIP HIP JORGE was behind him last start but was closing hard and it was his debut Woodbine run. Better suited now and could make a concerted charge late. GRAY’S ABLE also deserves a breakthrough. Big weight but runs on.

TIPS: (2) IN MEMORY OF LLOYD, (3) Hip Hip Jorge, (7) Gray’s Fable

Race 8 2:15pm Synthetic 1000m

Hard race to end the night. Low level talent. PIERIAN has a nice draw. Can tuck in behind the speed and recent works say she can finish this off. SUPER CHOCOLATE is a nice enough filly at this level. Is expected to be on speed all the way. Similarly, the consistent MISS DANIELLE. She appreciates this low grade.
