Canberra premiership winner Keith Dryden believes former Sydney-trained Reigning Rhythm can break back into the winners’ circle at Goulburn on Monday.
The five-year-old gelding tackles the Danasinga @ Baerami Handicap where he steps up to his preferred 1600m third-up.
“He’s a mile, 2000-metre horse that gets to his best distance tomorrow,” Dryden said.
“It was a nice effort first-up then he wasn’t beaten that far in a strong race at Kembla Grange.
“Now he’s up to his right range. I’m expecting him to run well.”
Reigning Rhythm resumed from an 118-day spell, finishing late for a 2.4 lengths fifth to Gladiator over 1280m at Canberra on July 8 then finished 4.6 lengths eighth to Sables over 1400m at Kembla on July 21.
His record over 1600m of two wins and a second from five starts underpins Dryden’s belief the trip is his best.
“He’s a big, gross horse who always takes a couple of runs to reach peak fitness,” Dryden added.
Dryden’s Canberra premiership win has the stable humming.
His three starters this new season have already produced two wins and a second.
“I think I’ve got three good chances tomorrow,” Dryden said.
“The stable is firing. Everyone is happy.”
Dryden will also saddle up Room To Boom in the opening event and Daryl, who tackles Guy Walters’ highly-promising Jacquinot Bay.
Jacquinot Bay is unbeaten in two starts, the latest when bolting in by 4.3 lengths at Goulburn on July 27.
