The big money has started to arrive for Alcopop in Saturday’s 2010 Caulfield Cup despite his horror draw of barrier 22.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Alcopop drifted from $5.50 to $8.00 following the draw but punters thought it had reached attractive odds now.
“We took a bet of $70,000 to $10,000 this morning as well as other bets of $2500 and $1000,†Sullivan said.

“He was unloved yesterday following the draw but punters obviously think his Yalumba run was good enough to win the Cup even starting from the carpark.
“I have left him at $8.00 though as I am happy to get more out of him at that price as he will need a tremendous amount of luck to win from out there.â€
Metal Bender remains Sportingbet’s $5.50 favourite ahead of Herculian Prince at $6.50 and Shocking at $7.00 but Sullivan said punters were looking for value at this stage.
“Morayan was backed from $31 to $17 with one punter on to win $50,000 while Descarado has been backed from $51 to $31 following strong support,†he said.
“We have also seen money for Manighar, Monaco Consul and Faint Perfume so punters are really working around the favourites at this stage.â€
