Gai Waterhouse runners Driefontein and Raceway will start as $1.75 and $1.40 favourites respectively with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au ahead of their races at Warwick Farm tomorrow while Golden Rose winner Manawanui continues to hold favouritism ahead of Moment Of Change for the Sovereign Stakes crown.
After opening at $1.80, Driefontein has shortened slightly into $1.75 to take out the Widden Stakes while nearest rival Hussousa has eased out from $2.80 to $3.00, with no interest from punters for the remaining three runners.
In the Canonbury Stakes, Raceway is the clear punters choice at $1.40 with the unseen Narcissus and Nediym’s Quest next in the betting at $5.00 and $9.00 respectively.
“Gai’s runners definitely are the ones to beat in their respective races and the punters certainly agree,”sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
Manawanui, despite drifting to $2.30 after opening at $2.20, holds top billing for the Royal Sovereign Stakes but his biggest threat, Moment Of Change, has also eased, out to $3.50 from $3.00. Hot Snitzel is priced at $10 while the early interest has been for Peter Snowden’s Free Wheeling, after opening at $16 has been backed into $11.
“The market is suggesting it will be a close fought battle between Manawanui and Moment Of Change but the early money has been for Free Wheeling, so the punters think an upset could be on the cards in the Sovereign Stakes,” Hawes said.
