A strong nine race program will be run and won at Ladbrokes Park Hillside this Saturday. The weather is overcast, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (12:25) : Ladbrokes Australia Handicap 1300m:

Back Me: Very keen on 6 Launched (Best Odds: $5.50), who was with Brent Stanley but is now with Paul Banks. This filly contested the Gold Rush at Bendigo and despite starting bolters odds, I think she should have won given she was badly held up in the straight behind tiring on speed runners and couldn’t build up momentum at all. Bigger track and extra 300m look ideal and she represents great value.
Big Danger: 5 Pyx Chamber (Best Odds: $5.50) was well backed early on last time out at Ballarat but was just ridden upside down when finishing fifth to Urban Ruler. She is much better when she has something to chase, and I think that should eventuate from here. If it does, she is a definite live threat.
Roughie: 7 Smart As You Think (Best Odds: $9.00) debuts here for the John McArdle yard. Comes here with no trials, so it’s a bit of a guessing game, but she is well bred and the stable does normally produce them at the trials, so I’d watch the market with this filly and see if there is a push.

Race Two (13:00) : Ladbrokes.com.au Handicap 1500m:

Back Me: 3 Kerauno (Best Odds: $5.00) resumed against the older horses at Pakenham a tick over three weeks back and let down strongly from behind the tempo to win narrowly but impressively. He has a bit of upside and go back to the start prior and he was only three lengths off tough galloper Kracken. That’s good enough for this.
Big Danger: 2 Lahqa (Best Odds: $2.70) ran last Saturday in the Mornington Guineas (1500m) where she sat on speed and toughed it out well when running a close up second to the Group l performer Tarquin. She is well weighted after the claim for Dylan Dunn and maps very well I think.
Roughie: 5 Miss Cooper (Best Odds: $13.00) resumes here for the Ellerton/Zahra yard. She hasn’t raced since winning on the Lakeside course over the mile on December 30. Hasn’t caught my attention at the jump outs but she looks the leader and Katelyn Mallyon rides the filly very well.

Race Three (13:35) : Ladbrokes Bet Better Handicap (90) 1300m:

Back Me: 6 French Emotion (Best Odds: $1.85) on top but with hesitation. This mare is low flying at the moment for Chris Waller, winning four from four this time in, the latest coming at the Valley where she overcame difficulty to savage the line. I am a big fan of the stablemate, so it won’t be easy, but it’s hard to ignore a mare with a picket fence.
Big Danger: 7 She’s Miss Divine (Best Odds: $5.50) had her first run for Waller at Warwick Farm a couple of weeks back and while she was held up a touch in the straight, she had her chance when third to Suspense, who will go around in a Stakes race at Randwick as a leading chance. Enormous upside with this mare, gets weight relief and Ben Melham rides, and he steers Chris Waller gallopers very well.
Roughie: 12 Inishowen (Best Odds: $34.00) is a talented mare that resumes for Team Freedman after a solid Spring/Summer. She can sprint well fresh, she only carries 52.5kg, Mick Dee is riding in fabulous form…don’t be surprised to see her run a cheeky race.

Race Four (14:15) : Ladbrokes Mega Margin Handicap 1300m:

Back Me: 4 Demonstrate (Best Odds: $2.35) resumed over 1200m at the Valley a couple of weeks back and closed off strongly against the tempo when a close up second to the above average galloper Stellar Collision. His trial leading in was very good and the first up effort vindicated the theory he has come back in very good order. Just has to repeat that to go close here.
Big Danger: 1 Rageese (Best Odds: $7.00) has been given a freshen up since failing in the Autumn Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield behind Mahuta in a really strong form race. Hasn’t caught my attention at the jump outs, but Team Hawkes wouldn’t persist unless he was showing something, and he did run fifth in the Caulfield Guineas behind Press Statement.
Roughie: 8 Les Darci (Best Odds: $21.00) resumed against the older horses at Terang a couple of weeks ago where he started a short priced favourite and just got too far back with the big weight when running fourth to Elite Tiger. His form prior includes a midfield effort behind Palentino in the Hilton Hotel on Stakes Day. That’s good enough to be very competitive here.

Race Five (14:55) : Ladbrokes Live Play Handicap (70) 1800m:

Back Me: 5 Doctor Care (Best Odds: $15.00) comes off a placing in the Warracknabeal Cup where he got a long way back in the run and closed off strongly to run third to stablemate Live For Today. Getting fitter as he prepares for the jumps, but he is capable on the flat.
Big Danger: 16 The Bandit (Best Odds: $5.00) is a former Japanese galloper that was alright at his Australian debut at Pakenham before coming to this track/distance a couple of weeks back and producing a booming finish from near last to win impressively. He only has upside and is right down in the weights. He’ll take some beating.
Roughie: 13 Transfer Allowance (Best Odds: $21.00) drops in grade after contesting the Easter Cup (2000m) a couple of weeks back where he stuck on alright behind Leebaz. He won well here a few runs back and is going well enough to be a knockout hope here.

Race Six (15:35) : Ladbrokes Galilee Series Final 2400m:

Back Me: Hard to see anything other than a 4 Charlevoix (Best Odds: $1.90) win. All three of his runs this time in have been full of merit, the latest coming in the Alister Clark (2040m) when a ripping fourth to Tally, who ran a beauty in the Derby last Saturday to frank the form. Bigger track, extra trip…how does he lose?
Big Danger: 1 Cool Chap (Best Odds: $4.20) comes off the main lead up at Caulfield where he was given a lovely ride to win impressively. He will have no issue running the trip out, has upside and is in the right stable.
Roughie: 2 Pay Up Bro (Best Odds: $6.00) was well backed in that Caulfield race mentioned above but just had to make a long and sustained run from near last and that effort just told the last furlong where the winner had all the cheap suck ups near the fence. He will be strong here and is a life chance.

Race Seven (16:15) : Ladbrokes Infohub Handicap 1000m:

Back Me: 9 Bullpit (Best Odds: $9.00) comes through a 955m race at the Valley where he sat on speed and fought on strongly when a close up fifth to impressive winner Beau Rada. He is a nippy customer who will be out in front and giving a sight. Last bit will test, but I’ll leave it in the capable hands of G Boss.
Big Danger: 7 Miss Seton Sands (Best Odds: $5.00) is a class mare for Tony McEvoy who has been given a month freshen up sine winning impressively down the straight at Flemington in what looked a pretty strong mares race. Handles all conditions, well weighted and is unbeaten fresh.
Roughie: 11 Zupacharged (Best Odds: $17.00) has been freshened up since running behind Dan Zephyr over 1400m at Flemington, beaten just under seven lengths. He did threaten to win last prep but failed to greet the judge. Risk on a wet track, but he should be drawn out in best ground.

Race Eight (16:55) : Ladbrokes Cash In Handicap 1600m:

Back Me: 1 Silent Sedition (Best Odds: $2.90) was impressive in breaking her maiden first up at Cranbourne before stepping up to the Bendigo Guineas where she was well backed and justified the support with a dominant win. Not much harder here, in fact probably easier, so she is the one to beat.
Big Danger: 2 Labdien (Best Odds: $5.50) didn’t disgrace herself at all two back behind Badawiya in the Kewney (1400m) before running a game second to Thames Court in the Alexandra (1600m) at the Valley. She will get back and charge home, and back to 1500m is ideal.
Roughie: The step up in trip should suit 4 The Grey Flash (Best Odds: $67.00), who comes off a poor run at Pakenham behind Northern Model, but go back to the Spring and she was performing well behind Ambience and the behind Jameka in the Oaks. On that, she’d be very competitive here.

Race Nine (17:30) : Ladbrokes Odds Boost Handicap 1600m:

Back Me: 1 Kenjorwood (Best Odds: $4.40) looks the goods here in the last. His effort in the Blamey (1600m) was outstanding given he went at a sprinter’s speed when leading and though beaten, he toughed it out strongly for fourth. Subsequent Group l form has come out of that race, he looks the leader and he will take some beating.
Big Danger: 17 Hijack Hussy (Best Odds: $4.40) is a nightmare to follow, but she gets her chance here. Her run in the Gold Bracelet (1400m) was full of merit given she was back near last in the run and was hard ridden, but she picked up and attacked the line to run fourth to Written. Yendall rides, on the minimum and gives the impression she will eat up the mile.
Roughie: 14 Nevis (Best Odds: $6.00) was given a lovely ride from Katelyn Mallyon on speed in the Golden Mile (1600m) at Bendigo and he kicked on strongly in the straight to hold out Big Memory. He will be on speed again, draws well and is down in the weights again.
