Race 1. (15:04) Bert Harrison Plate 1000m
I like the way 3 Old Chap (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has trialled in readiness for start one. His latest trial saw him win by over two lengths at Lark Hill and he ran good time in the process. Not a deep race this so keen to see how he goes.
1 Castle Road (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to lump the weight but he is the clear class runner and that is going to carry him a long way. He resumes, having not raced since a down the track effort in the Karrakatta. Trialled well, looks the leader, he’ll take beating.
5 Desert Life (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Michael Lane trained filly that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since her debut at Ascot on March 15 when down the track behind Kings Court. The two trials leading in to get ready has been strong and good lead that Chris Parnham is booked.
Race 2. (15:44) Neville Parnham Handicap 1600m
3 Noble Connection (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to have returned in beast mode and confident he can make it 3/3 this time in. He won over 1500m at Pinjarra last start, getting better as the race went on and was impressive on the testing track. Good upside to come, he’s the one for me.
7 Decision Maker (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key chance after a decent effort last Wednesday at this track/distance where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I didn’t mind his finale in defeat. If he can settle closer and be within range, he can win.
2 Idyllic Ruler (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up to the mile after racing two weeks back over 1300m here when wide no cover throughout and just felt the pinch late in the piece. The query is 1600m but with the run in transit, he’s good ebough to threaten.
Race 3. (16:19) Lou Luciani Handicap 1600m
4 Famous Dain (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a beauty for Team Pearce and is one of the hardest to beat after a track/distance win two weeks ago where he got a peach by Pike and in a driving go, finished best to score. Confidence is up, he can go on with it.
1 Lord Gannicus (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1400m at Pinjarra where he attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick from the front but had no answers late for Sensessional. 1600m is fine…just may need a bunny to chase.
6 Arcadia Knight (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes through the Famous Dain race from two weeks back here. He got a mile back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept chasing and was good in defeat. If he can be within range, he has the finale to score.
Race 4. (17:00) Len Pike Handicap 2100m
4 Long Genes (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) for me. Team Williams trained galloper that is on the seven day back up after racing over 2200m last Saturday at Pinjarra when on speed and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite get there snd get the job done. Hard fit, racing well, he’ll do me.
1 True Player (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since racing over the mile at Bunbury where he got too far out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, I didn’t mind his finale in defeat. Pike booked I find interesting given the set up but he has to be respected.
2 Alaskan (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) steps up in trip after racing two weeks back over the mile here behind Famous Dain where he just found them a bit sharp but was far from disgraced. Proven stayer, he’s in the mix for sure.
Race 5. (17:35) Albert Jordan Handicap 1000m
5 Deferred (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) to resume a winner. He hasn’t raced since April 26 over 1400m at Ascot where he just looked a tired horse after a long prep, failing to get involved. He does go very well eaely on in a prep and his trial work has been strong.
6 Horcrux (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door. He ran over 1200m here two weeks ago where he got a sweet sit in transit just behind the speed snd tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the race off. That’s why back to 1000m does suit, he’s hard fit, racing well…appeals.
1 Resonator (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. He had a stint with the Gangemi camp but is now with Team Williams, a stable who can certainly get something new out of a tried horse. His best is clearly good enough and has trialled well so watch betting and see what it does.
Race 6. (18:10) Congratulations Grant & Alana Williams Hcp 1400m
6 Essentric Nature (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1400m after resuming over 1200m two weeks ago where he was a real eye catcher, closing off well from off speed. Fitter and up in trip, Pike on, he’ll take beating against these.
5 Cruise To Victory (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing at Pimjarra last Saturday when placing over 1200m. He tried hard but just lacked the polish to finish the job. Like him back up in trip, he commands respect.
4 Border Force (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) doesn’t want the rain to hit too hard because firmer the better for him. He was a bit plain three weeks back but I just think the track was too wet. If he gets a firmer surface, he’s a definite improver.
Race 7. (18:45) Belmont Newmarket 1200m
8 Fluro Neuro (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is better suited over further but if we do get a wet track, it’ll be testing and he’ll be strong late. I think the stable would love to get him to a Railway/Northerly, so this is a kick off point, but he’s a very genuine horse who can sprint well fresh and has trialled nicely.
4 Wind And The Lion (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) got a 12/10 by Pike to win the Bolton Sprint three weeks ago at Bunbury, ducking and weaving his way through the field before getting clear and finished best to score. Off that effort, he’ll take beating here.
5 Gemma’s Son (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a first four threat. He ran fourth in the Bolton Sprint three weeks back. He got back off speed and kept chasing in a decent effort in defeat behind Wind And The Lion. Not sure he is good enough to win but is a must for exotics.
Race 8. (19:15) Happy 80Th Birthday Bobby Mcpherson Hcp 1300m
7 Hostile Talk (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way for me. She ran over 1200m here two weeks ago when second up and got back in the run but didn’t mind the way she finished her race off in defeat behind Want A Winner. Getting towards peak fitness and 1300m, she’s a good each way gamble.
5 Sentimental Belle (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was the eye catcher in the Want A Winner race from a fortnight back. She got a mile out of her ground but worked home with real purpose late in a good performance in defeat. If she can settle closer and be within range, she’ll take holding out.
9 Chino La Diva (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes to town off the back of a spank job win last Thursday on the Sand track at Bunbury, leading throughout and giving her rivals not a look in at all. Good test here but with her racing style, she’ll give herself every chance.
