Race 1. (13:00) Winning Edge Presentations (Bm66) 1050m
3 Mathemetician (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is short enough but there is a reason for that. He does look to have a few lengths on these. He debuted over this track/distance two weeks ago, giving them a start and an absolute beating in a sharp effort to start the career. Only has to hold his form and he wins again.
4 Wiltshire Square (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a short course type for Ciaron Maher so I think she is suited here. Kept on ice since Feb 9 when fourth at Caulfield Heath but a recent tick over jumpout was quite encouraging. Doubt she beats the favourite but should run top three.
7 More Than Hope (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran third to Mathemetician. He attempted to lead throughout and he gave a decent sight in front but just couldn’t quite see it through. Should find the top once again and only run well against these.
Race 2. (13:35) Kirin Ichiban Hcp (C2) 1100m
3 Power Of Time (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should prove hard to beat for Andrew Clarken after a win over 1050m at Balaklava. He sat near the speed throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off, proving strong in the run to the line. Has run well at 1100m previously and strikes a winnable race.
5 Flirt (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to town for the Bain/Taylor camp after a win over this trip at Clare. She sat on speed and was there to be beaten but she found and was strong to the line. Good racing style, she’s in the mix.
4 Wally West (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is hit and miss, but his best is dangerous at odds. He ran over 1200m at Gawler last start when tucked in behind the speed and was there to threaten but just whacked and was never really a factor. Cold ride, he can sit back and finish off strongly.
Race 3. (14:10) Sportsbet Feed (Bm64) 1600m
8 Zarkana (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is the way I am leaning. Francis/Kent trained mare that ran over 1500m here two weeks ago where she got back to near last in the run and while she was never a winning threat, she kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat. Has a gate to settle much closer and be effective late.
4 Brown Nose Day Gal (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) ran third in the race mentioned above, won by Wichitall. She got into a decent spot near the speed and was there to win but had no answers for the winner, who had front end control and was too good. Hard to beat if she holds her form.
2 Top Of The Ridge (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the quick back up after racing over 1400m last Saturday on the Parks track when back in the run and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat. Knockout chance back up in trip.
Race 4. (14:45) Sportsbet More Places Hcp (62) 1050m
12 Runaway Belle (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) each way for me. She ran two weeks ago at this track/distance where she got back to near last in the run and while she was never a winning threat, she did make up ground and was pretty good late. If she can use the inside gate to advantage, she takes holding out.
9 Miss Slipstream (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been kept on ice since a dominant first up win over 900m at Murray Bridge, sitting on speed and was trucking before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well. Good test here but confident she measures up.
3 Babayka (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the quick back up after racing over 1000m last Saturday on the Parks track here when just off speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when fourth. Good short course type at this level, he’s a knockout hope.
Race 5. (15:20) Rexco Hcp (66) 2000m
5 Mortian Efficient (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is hard to beat here. He placed over this trip at Wangaratta last start where he got back off speed and kept chasing in the straight in a pretty good effort in defeat. Likely spots them a start again but will be stronger than most late.
6 Somewhere Soon (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) landed a mini plunge when a winner two weeks ago over this trip at Morphettville, getting a 12/10 ride from Stubby and drove hard late when clear to score. She is a mare clearly on the up and in a purple patch. Rates highly.
7 King Of Wessex (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. He ran fourth to Somewhere Soon two weeks back at Morphettville when just off speed and did try hard but just lacked any real change up speed to go with them late. Hard fit now, he’s a must for exotics.
Race 6. (16:00) Manihi Classic 1100m
10 Celerity (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks the winner despite being poorly weighted and rising deeply in grade/depth. She ran second at Caulfield Heath last start where she got badly held up in behind them before eventually getting clear late and worked home well when second. J Melham on, kind map in her corner and while this is harder vs last start, this isn’t a deep Stakes contest.
1 Prairie Flower (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been freshened up since Jan 31 when midfield in the Durbridge, sitting off speed and was okay late but seemingly had her chance. Two strong pieces of work since that run and despite being topweight, class will carry her a long way.
2 Sav On Ice (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Will Clarken trained gelding that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Cup Day at Morphettville when down the track in the John Letts but he was a total forgive given he got badly hampered by the fall. Trialled well for the return, watch betting.
Race 7. (16:45) Adelaide Cup 3200m
8 Dictionary (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a great each way speck in the Cup for me. He ran over 2500m at Flemington just over three weeks ago when off speed and although he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was quite good in defeat behind Berkeley Square. He’s racing as if 3200m will be fine, gets a good gate to do no work…he seems a big price.
6 Highland Bling (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has an awful draw to overcome but hard to knock the way he’s returned. He ran second in the Lord Reims, sitting off speed and loomed to win, hailed as the winner, but was nabbed on the peg by Eventually. If he can overcome the gate, he’ll take beating.
9 Hasta La War (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a sneaky knockout hope. He ran down the track behind Eventually in the Lord Reims but his run was sneaky good, getting back to near last and while he was never threatening, he did make up ground and was a definite pass mark. He is a must include in multiples.
Race 8. (17:25) Morphettville Guineas 1600m
8 Uptown Monk (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a progressive animal for Will Clarken. Not sure he beat much at the midweeks at Strathalbyn but the arrogance of the win and the way he went about it was very impressive. He’s a nice horse and will love getting to 1600m. Confident he can measure up.
9 Dirty Old Town (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a beauty for Andrew Gluyas. She has won three on end, the latest being last Saturday on the Parks track when giving them a start and a beating to finish best. Maps ideally, 1600m is fine, rates highly.
2 Mostly For Show (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday on the Parks track when off speed and seemingly had his chance but just whacked late. Trialled at Oakbank on Thursday to keep up to the mark, so watch the market. Not dismissing him.
Race 9. (18:05) C S Hayes Memorial Cup 1600m
9 A Samurai Mind (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) was game in defeat in this race last year and looks primed to run really well again. He resumed in the City Of Marion when off speed, wide, and did plenty of work, sticking on pretty well in defeat. Like the rise in trip and with a more positive ride, he takes beating.
1 Air Assault (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back a fair way in depth after racing last Saturday in the Blamey when leading, and had his chance in front, tiring late. He pulled up lame so forgive and forget the run. If he brings his best, he can take this out.
5 Verdad (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is hit and miss but is certainly capable for Robbie Griffiths. Down the track behind Sneaky Sunrise at Caulfield last time but he was ridden too warm I thought and tired late in the piece. More patient steer, he can run an improved race.
