9/12/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Moonee Valley

Eight races will be run and won under the lights at Moonee Valley this Friday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

For mine, it is a race in two. I am leaning towards 2 Delta Tango (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for Mitch Freedman. Game third two back at this track/distance before going to Sandown where she wasn’t entirely suited by the race shape but kept finding the line when third. If gate one is okay for her, she’ll take beating.

7 Wahine Toa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has good upside compared to most and has the Maher/Eustace polish. This mare resumed over 1800m at Casterton where she was backed as if unbeatable and under a peach from John Allen, she was far too good for an average lot. Is a second up winner previously and this is a winnable city race.

8 Blackcomb (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win. Both runs this time in have come over the mile, the latest being two weeks back at Cranbourne where she loomed to win on the turn but condition just gave way when third to Regal Amazon. Now gets to a staying trip and remains down in the weights.

3 Blushing Tycoon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gets good weight relief from last time and I do think a rise to 2040m will be fine. He ran over the mile last start at Sandown and tried his guts out when second to Oceana Blue. The trip should be fine, especially from the good gate, and a hungry D Oliver sticks.

5 Fire Glo Too (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is steadily getting better and better since arriving from Hong Kong. He ran over 2100m at Sandown last time and kept finding the line when third to Jayrod Too, who led throughout and was given a peach from Froggy. Has that 2100m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead.

Giving respect to 2 Deel Blaster (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Matt Laurie trained gelding that ran a super race at The Valley last time, working home nicely without threatening behind Zoumon, making ground against the pattern. If the track is playing fair this time around, gee he finds a winnable metro race.

Tricky maiden to sort out. Landed with 5 Private Jumbo (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Debuted three weeks ago at this track/distance where he attempted to lead throughout and gave a strong kick despite wobbling a bit around the turn but stayed on and was good in defeat when second to Holly Lolly. Lands on the bunny and is hard to run down.

Fitter and up to 1200m are two big ticks for 2 Daimyo (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Maher/Eustace trained gelding that resumed over 1000m at Tatura where he was back off the speed and chasing from a fair way out, but he ran through the pain barrier and was good late when fourth. Hard to beat if the inside gate is used to advantage.

12 Romanova (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Russian Revolution for Peter Moody that is on debut. This filly has had a couple of jumpouts to get ready for start one and while she hasn’t quite set the world on fire, but they have been good enough to suggest she’s in for a forward showing on debut, so watch the market.

If the track is playing fair, then 10 Lady Jones (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a bit on these IMO. Far from disgraced at Flemington on Oaks Day in a good form race won by Razeta. She then went to Sandown and kept finding the line when second to Riverplate, beaten comfortably, but she beat the rest comfortably herself. That horse won on Wednesday so the overall form just reads so well.

7 Crimson Light (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should love the rise to the mile. Debuted over 1400m at Pakenham where she was a pest to get into the gates, using up her energy for that process, but despite that, she ran very well from the back. Tick over jumpout was pretty good and good lead that the stable gets C Williams to steer.

6 Tyita (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will give a sight from near the speed. Three weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where he attempted to lead throughout and he gave a solid kick but was no match late for Hard To Cross, who won at Sandown on Wednesday to frank the form. Blinkers on first time and has the Waller polish.

3 Brian Epstein (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has gate one and enormous upside so I am in his corner. He resumed over 1500m at Sandown where he was near the speed and presented to win the race in the straight but couldn’t quite get there when third to I Am News. Think with the Blinkers off, he’ll lead this field up and take beating if the track is playing up/in.

9 Jabbawockeez (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a horse heading in the right direction for Team Hayes. He was very good in defeat on debut at Pakenham before going to Swan Hill where he looked a moral on paper and despite a few nervous moments, he kicked when required and was too good. Harder here, but has upside and will be strong at the end.

2 Confrontational (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one for wider multiples. He resumed over 1400m at Cranbourne where he got a fair way out of his ground and did make up some headway without threatening. Few bits of tinkering with the gear to try and sharpen him up and a big tick is getting to the mile.

3 In Due Time (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will need luck from the inside gate but if he gets the breaks, I think he’ll take beating. He was backed with confidence at odds over 1100m at Echuca last time but got a fair way back in the run and had too much to do but was very good late when a close up third. Jockey upgrade and a fast tempo suits. Just needs the rub of the green.

2 Chosen Blonde (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing over this track/distance last Friday night where she bombed the start and that sealed her fate. She actually did a good job to get as close as she did behind Mutinous. With a clean jump, she can land on speed and prove hard to beat.

1 Titans (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is another on the seven day back up as well. He ran over 1200m at Mount Gambier where he scooted along in front and gave a solid kick, looking home but was nabbed late by Star Jan. Is a track/distance winner, so should land near the front and he’ll look the winner for a long way.

8 Devil’s Fiddle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top for me in what looks a pretty solid Class 1. She resumed over 1100m at Kyneton where she ddn’t quite get the rub of the green when it counted but it was good late when third, clocking some of the best alte splits of the meeting. Fitter and up to 1200m, she’ll do me.

2 Chester Warrior (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Zululand for Team Hayes that resumes. He had a three run prep in the Winter to start his career, bolting up in a Swan Hill maiden before being outclassed in the McKenzie. Jumpout work has been pretty good and stable finds D Oliver to steer. Hard to beat.

7 Thetoyboy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to town as a last start winner, so he has to be given some level of respect. He was a month between runs when breaking the maiden tag at Moe last time, finding plenty under pressure to win and and win well. Not sure he’s good enough to beat these, but can run top four.

Have to wait til the last to find the good thing of the night and 9 River Noire (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is indeed that good thing. Jumped out like a bomb prior to debuting at Moe where she landed on speed comfortably and was absolutely trucking in the run under Stackhouse. Just a matter of pushing the button and once she did, she gapped them. Should lead comfortably, hold up and be too good.

8 Starlea (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has an awful winning strike rate but she is racing very well. Ran over 1200m at Sandown last time and chased strongly from off the speed, but was no match in picking up dominant winner Vermentino. If the favourite is off her game for some reason, this girl becomes the #1 seed.

3 High Risk (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a sleeper at odds if the inside gate is used to advantage. They rode her with a sit at Traralgon last time and the end result was a strong finale from the back to win nicely over 1100m. I don’t think she’s got the talent to beat River Noire, but a soft run from the barrier, she is one for exotics.

BEST BET: Race Eight Number 9 River Noire

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 10 Lady Jones

LONG SHOT: Race One Number 2 Delta Tango
