7/9/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick, Chelmsford Stakes day

Ten races will be run and won at Randwick on Saturday for Concorde Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

3 Herb (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be humming for Kerry Parker and up to 1400m, he’s going to take beating. He ran over 1200m in the Midway here two weeks ago and worked home quite well after getting back in the run behind Well Timed. Better set up here, can settle closer in the run, hard to beat.

4 Northern Eyes (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Kim Waugh and commands respect in this Midway off three wins on the bounce, the latest at Newcastle over 1500m when on speed and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found, kicked and was too good. He’ll take running down.

10 Byron (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver for Team Curtis. This gelding resumed on Rowley Mile Day at Hawkesbury where he paraded like he would need the run and that’s how it panned out after getting the suck run in behind. Has run well at the track/distance previously and the depth here, as a whole, isn’t deep.

1 Lost (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for James Cummings since racing at this trip at Rosehill where she seemingly had every chance but couldn’t quite finish the race off behind Piastri. The first up win was dynamic and I do think the extra week off helps her cause. Looks hard to beat I say.

3 Spring Lee (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has to be rated as one of the hardest to beat. She looked to have her chance here a fortnight back but just didn’t quite finish the race off behind World Alliance. I do think back to 1100m and back to Mares grade, she rates highly for mine as one of the hardest to beat.

7 Time Bandit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has a bit of ability I feel and can run well fresh here. She resumes for Bjorn Baker, having not raced since April 11 at Wyong when a strong winner over 1100m in a race which I think had depth to it. Trials leading in have been strong and I think will run a cheeky race.

Benchmark form usually stands up in Highway races and Saturday benchmark form is gold so I have to side with 4 Melody Again (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Her run two weeks ago over 1200m here was one of the better runs of the day, getting back to near last in the run but loved the way she found the line late in the piece behind World Alliance. If she’s within range, she has the finale to launch and nail them.

2 Atmospheric Rock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Danny Williams and he looks to be in for a really good prep off his first up win here a fortnight back, giving them a start and a beating, proving quite strong to the line in an impressive return. Fitter and up to 1200m, proven weight carrier, he’s clearly hard to beat.

5 Lisztomania (Bet Now:  $SP.00) doesn’t have the best of racing patterns but he has a booming finish on her, as seen three weeks ago at Rosehill. He got back and worked home well but I do think 1300m just found him out in the end behind Intervarsity. Back to 1200m, he’ll be spotting them a start but should launch late.

6 Strathay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a horse on the up for Chris Waller and I do think the key to him is dry ground. He found that two weeks ago here and gee he let rip with a brilliant finale when asked and was impressive in winning. Good test here now at Stakes grade but confident he can measure up.

1 Changingoftheguard (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Kris Lees since contesting the Premiers Cup Prelude where he was first up and ran well I thought, but just looked in need of the run behind impressive winner Golden Path. Fitter, up in trip, J Mac sticks, he’s a market watch.

2 Sir Lucan (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 2400m. GaiBott trains this gelding, that resumed two weeks back in the Premiers Cup behind Eliyass. He got into a decent spot just off the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job. Better set up here, will press forward, he’ll give cheek.

1 Zeyrek (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks really hard to beat here I say. He ran last in the Winx Stakes but his finale was quite good for a horse who was outclassed and is better suited over much further. Good second up record and if he can settle closer, he’s going to take holding out.

6 Floating (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. He resumed over 1400m in the Goulburn Cup where he got back off the speed and while he was never threatening, he made up headway and was solid enough in defeat behind Green Shadows. Good record at the track, the trip, good upside…dangerous.

2 Almania (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Australia for Kris Lees that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since the Autumn when down the track in the JRA Plate behind Huetor. He has had three spaced trials to prepare for his return so the grounding is there and he has quality…watch the market.

1 Manaal (Bet Now:  $SP.00) to bounce back. Market said she was ready to go when resuming in the Light Fingers and looked the winner but just couldn’t quite finish it off when a narrow third to Ameena. Fitter, and the big tick here is back to set weights, so she meets those fillies from the Light Fingers better here…keen.

2 Ameena (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the 1200m horse and does have the runs on the board after winning the Light Fingers fresh. She was wide throughout but J Mac kept her in a good rhythm and gee she showed ticker in the straight to wear them down and win. Not sure she has upside but only has to hold her form to be around the mark.

6 Too Darn Lizzie (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will put herself on speed and give her all. She hasn’t raced since the Percy Sykes when just off the speed and was held late in the piece behind Eneeza. Recent trial work has been quite good, looks to land near the front and will give a decent sight.

I want to be on the short course specialist, who is 9 Red Card (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who is an absolute bomb fresh horse, and she loves a firm deck, so she gets things set in stone for her return, plus her trials to get ready have been outstanding. Bella Nipotina/Giga Kick, I don’t think, are here wound up 100%, likewise Private Eye, whereas Godolphin love blacktype for their Fillies/Mares. Gets in very well at the weights, she’ll do me each way.

1 Giga Kick… (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is he back? Hasn’t raced for around 12 months and it’s been well documented what has happened during that time. But, he’s back in work, has eyes on The Everest and his trial work has been outstanding in his trial work, especially in Sydney. He’s here to make a statement re Everest and yes, he’ll be spotting them a start but should be very strong late and is the best horse in the race IMO.

2 Private Eye (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. He was a star sprinter the last couple of seasons but the wheels kind of fell off last prep, though he did place in the All Aged, but overall, he was disappointing. He has been given a good break, has trialled up really well for the return and his best is more than good enough to give this a shake.

10 Zardozi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a ripping mare for James Cummings. She has returned super to my eyes. Trials indicated that and she ran up to the trials in the Winx Stakes, closing off soundly despite having every chance behind Via Sistina but she is a mare that has eyes on the Cups. Finds a very thin race IMO, J Mac takes over, takes beating.

1 Buckaroo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. Chris Waller trained gelding that resumed two weeks back in the Winx Stakes over 1400m. He got back in the run and while he was never threatening, he kept finding the line in a pretty solid return behind Via Sistina. Better set up here, can settle handy, takes beating.

3 Nonconformist (Bet Now:  $SP.00) creates interest. Grahame Begg trains this gelding and he is a horse who can pull out a ripping run fresh. He is first up, having not raced since the Might And Power last year when held behind Alligator Blood. Trialled well leading and Harry Coffey makes the trip up to stick with him.

8 Amelia’s Jewel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of many fascinating runners on the program and 1400m fresh tells me she is ready to rock and roll. Class mare that makes her debut under the care of Neasham/Archibald. I think at her best, she is one of the best we have in the country, and her trials indicate that she is humming for her return, plus the stable love to use this as a launching pad, the example being Zaaki. Keen to be with her.

3 Democracy Manifest (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be ticking along beautifully towards the Epsom. He resumed a fortnight back in the Show County where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never beating Joliestar, his finale was excellent. This should top him off beautifully for the 1600m and can settle closer.

15 Kintyre (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will be spotting them a start but he should be quite strong late. He had a busy Autumn/Winter, which ended with a strong effort in the Rough Habit. He has worked home with purpose in his trials and although he’ll be back, he will be strong at the end and a win wouldn’t shock.

9 World Alliance (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Matty Smith. He has done little wrong this time in and that good vein of form continued two weeks ago at this track/distance, getting the suck run nearer the inside before cutting back inside further for ground and he finished off his race with purpose to win and win well. Hard to be against him.

13 Well Timed (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in two runs this time in and looks really well suited here. He won the Midway a fortnight back here, getting a peach steer by Nash and in a driving finish, he was too good in an impressive display. Genuine animal, has upside to come, rates highly.

15 Pokerjack (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Tash Burleigh and he is a horse that wouldn’t look out of place in The Kosciuszko. He tried his guts out here a fortnight back but just found one better in World Alliance. Good racing style, hard fit and in form, he’ll give his all again I am sure.

NEXT BEST: Race Four Number 6 Strathay

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 9 Red Card
