Nine races will be run and won at Belmont on Saturday for Farnley Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is soft (5) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

6 Bravo Centurion (Bet Now: $1.28) looks the winner if he holds his form. Track/distance winner from two weeks ago, producing sustained speed from the front and gave nothing else a look in to win and win well. Harder here, but will lead the field and for mine, he only has to hold his form and I think he’ll be winning again.

2 Sofia’s Symphony (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Michael Lane since racing over this track/distance where she was near the speed throughout and she tried hard but had no answers late when second to Ginnivan, who won again last Saturday to frank the form. That clearly reads well for this.

4 Songaa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout hope. Mitch Pateman trained gelding that ran fourth to Ginnivan in the race mentioned above. He seemingly had every chance in transit and presented to threaten but just whacked in the run to the line. Good track/distance record, I am not dismissing him.

5 Bernbrae (Bet Now: $3.20) has been quite good this time in and is knocking on the door to win. She has been runner up in both runs this time in, each coming over the mile here. Latest of those runs came two weeks ago when off speed and closed with purpose behind Hemlock Stone. Like her up in trip and finds a very winnable race.

6 Red Dwarf (Bet Now: $8.00) is an interesting runner. Just over two weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where she got back to near last in the run and worked home nicely late in the piece behind Flash Paddy. Interesting she gets Pike, so that signals intent from the camp, and off last run, I say is hard to beat here.

7 Blue Card (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will put himself near the speed and giving a decent sight. That was the case behind Flash Paddy at this track/distance last time and gave a good kick when asked but couldn’t quite finish the job, finishing third. With his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.

9 Secret Intent (Bet Now: $10.00) looks a filly that has an engine under the hood I feel. This filly debuted over 1200m at Pinjarra where she got back to near last in the run but I really liked the way she finished her race off when second to Great Emotion. That was a super effort and off that, 1400m is fine and looks to have found a winnable race.

2 Mean Machine (Bet Now: $3.80) commands respect given he won the key lead two weeks ago over 1200m here, sitting on speed and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. The way he fights, 1400m looks okay and is one of the leading chances.

10 Fun In Hollywood (Bet Now: $126.00) is an improver at odds. She debuted two weeks back behind Mean Machine over 1200m here. She got back in the run and was quite keen in the run but was blocked at stages, so while she was held, I thought she should have finished closer. Not sure she wins here, but I think she improves and can finish top four.

3 Lova Session (Bet Now: $4.60) has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it. Winner over 1300m here two weeks ago in a similar race where she looked in a nasty spot on the fence but she was able to get clear air and once she did, she gapped her rivals and was impressive. More depth here, but hard to knock her and how she’s going.

5 Elbow Lounge (Bet Now: $9.50) looks to have returned in really good order for Bruce Watkins. He resumed over this track/distance last Wednesday where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I did like the way he finished his race off in defeat behind Audrey Grace. If he can can settle closer, I think he’s dangerous.

4 Ultimate Command (Bet Now: $23.00) is a slight query at 1200m at this level but seems to map to do no work, which helps her cause. She ran over this track/distance four weeks ago where she was near the speed and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job behind Russian Sniper. Not sure she wins but a first four threat.

4 Deferred (Bet Now: $1.90) looks the one for Simon Miller. Her run two weeks ago over 1400m here was very good I thought, getting back in a slowly run race and worked home with real purpose late when a close up third to all the way winner Wango Award, who had complete control in front and was too good. If she’s within range, more genuine tempo, she takes beating.

3 No Brainer (Bet Now: $5.00) will put himself on speed and take running down. He got a peach front running steer from Fiore a fortnight back here and that was the difference between winning and losing, finding under pressure and lifted late to win. Good racing style, genuine, in form, rates highly.

5 Jelly Can Run (Bet Now: $5.50) is a consistent gelding that has to be given respect. He ran second ton Wango Award two weeks back where he got into a decent spot off the slow speed and was there to win but couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second. Racing well and commands respect.

2 Desert Nymph (Bet Now: $1.80) is flying for Michelle Hagley and it’s hard to get away from this mare. She has won three on the bounce, the latest coming last Saturday over 1300m here when giving them a start and beating, launching late to finish best in a strong display. Up to 1400m is fine and the depth here isn’t overly deep IMO.

4 Brave Strike (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing quite consistently for Simon Miller but she just can’t quite crack it for a win. She ran over 1300m here on Aug 21 where she got into a decent spot behind the speed and was there to win but she couldn’t quite finish the job when a narrow second to Mama Tembu. 1400m is a slight query but maps to do no work and is dangerous.

5 Hoist The Colours (Bet Now: $41.00) is a son of Galah that resumes for Ross Price. This guy is first up, having not raced since April 19 when down the track in the Narrogin Cup but it was an end of prep run I felt. Not a noted fresh horse, hasn’t trialled publicly, but if they go silly in front, he should be strong at the end.

8 Toropa (Bet Now: $2.45) looks a very good mare on the up for Vern Brockman and confident she can make it 5/5 to start her career. Five weeks between runs since a track/distance, where she wasn’t 100% happy on the wet track but class kicked in and she was much too good. Firmer footing helps her cause and I do think she has a bit of brilliance.

2 Sentimental Belle (Bet Now: $2.50) is on the seven day back up for Team Williams after racing last Saturday over 1300m here. She got into a decent spot just off the speed and presented wider, launching late but had to settle for a close up second to Desert Nymph. If the back up is fine, she appeals.

9 Santa Brae (Bet Now: $81.00) is a son of Manhattan Rain that resumes for Ross Price. This guy is first up, having not raced since April 20 at Ascot over 1800m when leading and giving a decent sight but couldn’t quite see it through when a narrow second to Sowar. Resumes without a public trial but can sprint well fresh so watch the market.

5 Triple Jay (Bet Now: $1.80) seems the straight bat play here. Team Pearce trained gelding that is flying at the moment, just over two weeks between runs since taking out the Blue Spec, giving them a start and a beating with an electric finale to win and win well. He does love racing at Belmont, maps perfect and gets Pike on.

1 Magnificent Andy (Bet Now: $13.00) is the class horse of the field, by some distance, and that is going to carry a long way towards victory. His last run was on June 1, taking out the Hyperion in impressive fashion. I dare say he has eyes on the Railway so this is a kick off point, and he has to lump the weight, but he has class.

6 Kaptain Kaos (Bet Now: $61.00) is one I can entertain as a first four threat at odds. He resumed two weeks back in the Idyllic Price where he got back and was chasing from the outset but he kept on and wasn’t too bad in defeat behind Searchin Rocs. Good second up record, fitter and up in trip, firmer deck, he’s an improver at odds.

1 Fine Touch (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with her best and I think she can showcase it here at this level. She has been contesting some decent races in recent times but has been plagued by bumping into good horses or wet tracks, the latest run being behind Sensessional. Back to this level, firmer deck, I think she’ll run a beauty.

2 Hemlock Stone (Bet Now: $2.90) was knocking on the door to win for Team Williams this prep and that win came a fortnight back here, getting a beaut run in transit before coming with a well timed run and he was much too good in an impressive display. He can go on with it.

6 Paigey’s Turn (Bet Now: $35.00) is three weeks between runs for Sharon Miller since racing over 2200m here where she got off speed and made up some ground but was never really threatening on wet ground behind Filthy Habits. Back in trip I like and prior efforts were quite sound.

BEST BET: Race Seven Number 8 Toropa

NEXT BEST: Race Eight Number 5 Triple Jay

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 1 Fine Touch
