7/7/2018 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick

Sydney racing this Saturday heads to Randwick for a nine race card. The weather is fine, the track is soft (7) and the rail is out nine metres for the entire circuit.

3 Albert’s No Pussy (Bet Now: $7.00) looks a really progressive son of Magic Albert for Kris Lees who debuted with a solid third to star stablemate Smart Melody at Newcastle before going to Scone where he was well backed and despite sitting wide, he proved far too good. He’s comfortably at this level for mine and is a clear threat.

5 Helaku (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Written Tycoon gelding for the Snowden camp who was okay in his first two career outings but loved the drop in depth when bolting up at Muswellbrook. Visually, very good, but the form out of the race has been awful. But. he’s in the right stable and it’s hard to put a line through a youngster they saddle up.

Really like the way that 6 Sunday Poet (Bet Now: $34.00) has gone about in his opening two career outings, seeing him win both. Debuted at the Sapphire Coast when too good before going to Wagga where he was up against a heavily backed runner yet led all the way and showed great fight late. He’ll be up on speed and a hard 1200m looks as if it’ll be no issue. Happy to have something on each way.

I’m quite keen here on 8 Roman Typhoon (Bet Now: $4.20) for Jan Bowen. Quality youngster who resumed at Scone over 1100m where the market said he had three legs and raced somewhat accordingly when fourth to the above average galloper The Big Vin. Go back two prior to that run and he should have won a 3YO race here. That’s surely good enough to beat these.

5 Highway Sixtysix (Bet Now: $2.50) is a Snippetson filly resuming for the in form Danny Williams camp. She won a Wagga maiden in impressive fashion before placing in a Rosehill Highway behind stablemate Tiger By The Tale. Resumes without a trials, but first up in town tells me there is a bit of intent to run well first up.

3 Ribs (Bet Now: $17.00) is a Team Longmire trained gelding that is first up. He showed good promise during the Spring/Summer, but he only won the one race, which came over 1400m at Gundagai. He can sprint well fresh and I think if we get a rain affected track, I reckon he comes right into calculations and is a definite yard watch.

I’ll trust what I’ve seen from 2 Bombarding (Bet Now: $3.60) in two Australian runs for David Pfieffer, where he has won both, each coming at the Wyong 1100m where he has been on speed and dashed away, with the clock backing up. Harder here, but his form in NZ, combined with what he’s done this prep, I reckon he measures up.

3 Envy Of All (Bet Now: $3.80) is the clear threat. Ran a game second to Miss Exfactor at the Sunny Coast before going to Ipswich where Lloyd rode her with a touch of arrogance and won accordingly. Fast run 1100m, wet track, both big ticks for her, and the form does read quite well to give her a serious chance against these.

Happy to give 7 Bella Success (Bet Now: $10.00) another chance. Good resumption at Kensington before racing over 1200m here where she was forced to make her run inside horses and that was the no go zone. I reckon back to 1100m third up will suit her and if she can get outside horses with clear running she should take some beating.

6 Wide Spread Panic (Bet Now: $3.60) on top for me in a thin race for the females. Liked the way she won two back at Kensington over 1400m before stepping back to the Wyong 1350m last week and that was a negative in hindsight. In the end, she ended up getting bailed away and couldn’t build momentum. Up to the mile a big tick and hopefully she can get clear air on speed.

The only threat appears to be 4 Touch Of Mink (Bet Now: $3.60). This girl was 2.5L off Shoals in the Surround in the Autumn and has since won two races. Liked her run three weeks back behind Nicci’s Gold, and though the record on soft ground isn’t great, she is by Not A Single Doubt and the progeny swim so the wet track won’t be an excuse.

7 Sepoy Acheva (Bet Now: $7.50) is a Chris Waller trained mare who is going along okay at the moment. Good effort first up behind Popular before racing over 1400m here where she was specked at odds but couldn’t produce the necessary turn of foot behind the well backed Reiby Rampart. Third up at the mile, she looks ready.

I’m very keen on 5 Nahuel (Bet Now: $3.90). I would have thought reaching Saturday metro grade this soon was an ask, but he finds such a thin race. Didn’t beat much last Saturday over the 2300m at Newcastle but it was a tough win and the right grounding to step up to this level. He’s got upside, plenty of it, and is a pure stayer.

1 Plymouth Road (Bet Now: $3.50) is two weeks between runs for the Matty Smith team since winning impressively over this track/distance. Hippo controlled things beautifully in front and once he clicked the horse up from around the 600m mark, it was game over. He beat nothing, but his confidence is up now and should get a relatively good run on speed.

8 Allcash (Bet Now: $16.00) is having his first crack at 2400m but I think he’ll be okay. He ran over 1900m at Canterbury last time out where he was back on the testing surface and never really looked likely but whacked away pretty gamely in defeat behind stablemate Mutarakem. He’s got an awful winning strike rate, but I could include him in multiples.

I reckon 12 Seahampton (Bet Now: $4.60) is just about ready to show her best now. Didn’t handle the bog first up at Warwick Farm behind Popular before racing last Wednesday at Canterbury and closing off with purpose late to run a close up third to Vienna Romance. Third up at 1400m on the big track, hopefully firmer footing, she should run well.

7 High Power (Bet Now: $8.50) is a lightly raced gelding for Kris Lees who is showing good promise. Had late market support when resuming a fortnight back at Newcastle over 1200m and despite looking in a bit of trouble for a few strides, gee he finished hard and eventually got the win. He’ll eat up 1400m and always respect the stable when they come to town.

10 Burden Of Proof (Bet Now: $26.00) has been up forever it seems like but gee Theresa Bateup has this filly going well. Ran over 1400m at Kembla Grange last time and Jess Taylor rode her a treat, getting her out to the best part of the track and finishing best in a driving go. Hard 1400m looks ideal for this girl and I think she’s a must for exotics.

The rain affected track and the lack of depth leans me towards 10 Curragh (Bet Now: $13.00). The Busuttin/Young team have this horse going well at the moment but a win just isn’t quite there. I think he gets his chance here because this race doesn’t look strong. Ran over the Bendigo mile last time out and finished off strongly to run second to Kaching, who is above average. 1800m, wet track, down in the weights, he’ll do me.

8 Vaucluse Bay (Bet Now: $5.50) is another that is bursting to win a race. Could I back him to win? Probably not. In saying that, his effort three weeks back over 1800m at Rosehill was quite good when a close up third to stablemate Chatelard. Yet to win in seven outings at Randwick is a little concern, but is racing well enough to go close against this lot.

6 Just Shine (Bet Now: $9.50) is an interesting runner. Resumed over the 1550m at Kensington and was solid off a slow tempo behind the in form Penske. Been freshened up and trialled really well last week, winning over the 1250m at Hawkesbury. Form out of that Kensington race has been quite good and he is 2/3 second up.

4 Redouble (Bet Now: $2.90) just has to carry the weight and I think he’ll prove too good for this lot. Trialled up enormous last Monday before racing at Rosehill last Saturday where he was nearer the inside, which wasn’t the A1 spot to be, but still ran a ripping third to Easy Eddie. Up to 1300m on the seven day turn around looks ideal.

2 Best Guess (Bet Now: $7.00) was a street corner tip when resuming three weeks back at Rosehill but she just didn’t get much luck in the straight but by the same token was a touch disappointing behind Albumin. Unbeaten second up and the trials leading in were too good to dismiss after one run. I think he can bounce back hard.

7 Invictus Prince (Bet Now: $10.00) is a former English stayer making his Australian debut for the Matty Smith team and we know the stable has a pretty decent record with these imports. He has a pretty solid fresh record when he raced overseas, and I haven’t minded what I’ve seen from his two trials leading up to the resumption.

1 She Knows (Bet Now: $3.70) for me. She’s just so reliable at the moment and while he is in this vein of form, how can you go past her? Took on the older horses a fortnight back here and she absolutely bolted in under Sam Weatherly. She looks to save her best for Randwick and she’s a proven weight carrier, so I don’t think that will be an excuse.

14 Star Crossed (Bet Now: $8.50) is a talented son of Starcraft that resumes for the Phillip Atkins yard. This bloke has showed good city class ability in the past but I think this is the prep where he has to stand up and be counted. He is a bomb when produced fresh and his recent trial win at Wyong looked very good to the eye.

12 Rebel Miss (Bet Now: 6.50) is a threat. Matty Smith trains this mare, who was wide throughout a few weeks ago at the Sunny Coast and that effort told late but she was far from disgraced when third to the above average Sprinting To Win. She’s becoming hard to trust, but if she brought her A game, she’s right in the mix, and she looked pretty good in a trial last week.

NEXT BEST: Race Two Number 8 Roman Typhoon

LONG SHOT: Race Seven Number 10 Curragh
