7/6/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick, Bob Charley AO Stakes day

Ten races will be run and won at Randwick on Saturday for Bob Charley Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is heavy (8) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

1 Hidden Motive (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to town for Nathan Doyle after an arrogant win at Hawkesbury last tme where he was backed as if unbeatable and duly saluted, winning quite impressivelu. Lands on speed, has the win on the board, takes beating.

2 Matima (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has done little wrong in a two start career and is one of the key threats. He was a sharp debut winner before a freshen up and going here when doing work near the speed but fought on really well in defeat behind Agarwood. Like him back to 1100m and is one of the key chances.

5 Change My Address (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a John Sargent trained filly that was a debut winner at Warwick Farm where she was under pressure early but she kept finding and was actually quite strong to the line in winning. Good test here, but think she can measure up.

15 Allegro Miss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the Midway two weeks back here won by Flying Embers. She got back off the speed and although she took a little while to wind into her work, she was good late in the piece. 1500m, I think, is okay, and her win the start prior was strong.

11 Danish Prince (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a tough campaigner for Marc Conners. He ran in the Midway two weeks ago at Randwick when on speed and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite get there when second to talented filly, Flying Embers. Hard fit, good racing style, he appeals.

5 Hellfire Express (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with his best. He ran behind Flying Embers a fortnight back in the Midway here. He got into a decent spot in transit and he tried hard but just lacked the killer finale when midfield. 1500m should be fine and maps ideally.

7 Gentileschi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect for the Messara/Gavranich camp. To the eye, she looked like she won at Scone a few weeks back, but the photo went the way of Cormac T in a deceptive finish. But, she is flying at present and is one of the key chances.

4 Miss Kim Kar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can win again. Bjorn Baker trained mare that was a strong winner two weeks ago here, giving them a start and a beating, finding the outside fence and let down with purpose to win and win well. 1600m should be fine and is one of the leading contenders.

3 Good Banter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hard to beat after her effort three weeks ago at Scone where she got a bit too far out of her ground but was good late, close up in defeat behind Cormac T. Back to Randwick, where she likes, she’ll be strong late and strikes a winnable race.

6 Shropshire Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Rod Northam after a first up win last week during the Scone Carnival where he knuckled down with purpose late and in a driving go, he was too good. Good test here, but confident he measures up.

3 Satin Stiletto (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and run a bold race. Matty Dale trained filly that was off a mini break when racing in the Denise’s Joy at Scone where she was near the speed throughout and she tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish it off. That said, she was close up in defeat behind Summer Flame. Back to Highway grade, she appeals.

8 Carribean King (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Matty Dunn since racing in the Highway at Gosford over 1200m where he got too far out of his ground and was solid late in the piece without threatening behind McKeon. He’ll spot them a start but be strong late.

1 Hurstville Zagreb (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win. O’Shea/Charlton trained three year old that looked $1.01 in the run over 1800m here a fortnight back but just couldn’t quite see it out and on the testing track, he was floundering late behind Let’s Fly. Hard fit, 2000m, he appeals.

5 Rotagilla (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of All Too Hard for Chris Waller that is capable. He ran behind Let’s Fly two weeks back here over 1800m when a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and wasn’t too bad in defeat. Like him up to 2000m and should be strong late.

14 Elivina (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for exotics. She ran behind Let’s Fly two weeks back here. She was good late without threatening, making up good headway late in the piece behind the Team Freedman filly. 2000m should be fine and can settle closer in the run.

6 Oh Diamond Lil (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a quality mare for David Pfieffer that I think will go through her grades. She resumed with a bang three weeks ago at Scone, getting better as the race went on and was strong to the line. She’ll be Stakes class in due course, so keen to be with her.

11 Anythink Goes (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can threaten. He ran fourth to Spione two weeks back at this track/distance where he got off speed and kept chasing with purpose without threatening behind the Team Hawkes galloper. Hard fit now and overall, this isn’t a strong race.

8 King Ratel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Bryce Heys trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Feb 11 2023 when a solid fourth over 1800m at Randwick behind Ascension. Has clearly had his issues but his trial work this prep has been encouraging. Watch betting.

9 Cool Jakey (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Joe Pride and with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance. He was on speed at this track/distance a fortnight back where he tried hard and fought courageously but had no answers late for Hollywood Hero. If there is petrol left in the tank, he can win.

12 Hollywood Hero (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. He was a strong track/distance winner two weeks ago, getting a 12/10 ride by Dylan Gibbons and the horse was quite dominant on the line. He’s found winning form, he can go on with it and win again.

3 Loch Eagle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver for Kris Lees. He resumed in the Scone where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was a definite pass mark in defeat. Fitter, proven at the Randwick mile, his best is good enough.

Stack of speed engaged here to my eye. Now, the form guide has been stuffed up here because they say 3 Contemporary (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was on speed in the Ortensia in the red cap, but he was actually in the blue cap, back in the run, and in the worst ground. I think he’ll park off the hot speed here, he loves Randwick, he’ll be strong late and hopefully the track can get a chance to dry out.

15 South Of India (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a handy short course sprinter that resumes. He is first up, having not raced since Jan 18 when an all the way winner at Rosehill, producing sustained speed from the front and gave nothing else a look in. Trial work has been great, good racing style, hard to beat.

8 Fire Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a leading chance. I liked him at odds three weeks ago in the Ortensia and he tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there when third to Caballus. He does seem suited at the short course so 1100m suits and hard fit, he’s one of the knockout hopes.

2 Whinchat (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and take running down, as seen when resuming three weeks ago at Scone in the Luskin Star when leading and giving a very strong kick from the kick but just felt the pinch late when a narrow second to The Instructor. Good racing style, upside, he appeals.

4 Grand Impact (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an improver for Price/Kent. He resuned a few weeks ago in the Ortensia at Scone when just off the speed and looked in need of the run behind Caballus. Fitter and up in trip, I say he takes beating against these.

16 Uzziah (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous with his best. He ran three weeks ago in the Luskin Star where he was on speed throughout and he did try hard but just felt the pinch late in the piece behind The Instructor. If he gets a more economical run on speed, he’s dangerous.

4 Storm The Ramparts (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has returned in excellent order for Joe Pride and is one of the hardest to beat. He won two weeks ago at this track/distance, leading throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and score. Has to be given serious respect.

1 Tanglewood (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the class of the field and class will carry him a long way. He resumed over 1100m at Scone three weeks ago where he got back in the run and just couldn’t get involved behind Zealously. Fitter, fast run 1000m, he can launch late.

16 Welcome Gypsy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a John Thompson trained mare that resumes. She is first up, having not raced since Feb 15 in a Midway here when attempting to lead throughout over 1000m and just tired late behind Photographics. Trialled well, good fresh record, she’s in the mix.
