I think with the good race experience on his side, 1 Way Beyond (Bet Now: $2.45) is on top. Stuart Kendrick trains this colt, who has had two career outings, debuting with a third at Eagle Farm behind Rothfire before going to the Sunny Coast three weeks back and finishing off well when second to Dusty Tycoon, who won last Saturday to frank the form. Looks like he wants 1200m and appears hard to beat.

Danger

2 Mass Destruction (Bet Now: $2.30) is a Spirit Of Boom colt for Tony Gollan that had trialled up really well prior to debuting over 1200m here two weeks ago when doing a bit of work early before landing outside the speed, set by Lady Banff, and tried hard, but that filly had too good of a change up speed and won again, but this colt was far from disgraced in second. That form reads well for this.

Long Shot

3 Bangers And Mayo… (Bet Now: $5.50) what a disgusting combo that is. But it’s the name of the Spill The Beans gelding for David Vandyke that is making his debut off the back of two trials, both on his home track at the Sunny Coast, and each time he has looked pretty good. Stable is having some really nice types trialling and it’s translating to wins, so keen to see how he goes.

3 Scout (Bet Now: $3.20) is flying this time in for the Edmonds camp and I think he can make it 3/3. Both runs/wins this time in have come at the Gold Coast, winning the maiden first up over 1100m before stepping up to 1200m where he was even more impressive in leading throughout. Up to 1350m looks okay, he’s got the right racing pattern and will look the winner for a long way.

Danger

5 Cellarmaid (Bet Now: $2.80) is a talented filly for the Kelly Schweida stable that returns to racing off a freshen up, where she put together a couple of impressive wins, the second of which came over the mile at Eagle Farm when heavily supported. 1350m is short of her best, but has residual fitness and her recent Sunny Coast trial was quite good.

Long Shot

2 Ziemba (Bet Now: $3.60) may want further, but he’s got a good overall record and will be strong at the end. Resumed at this track/distance back on November 13 when slightly flatfooted when the sprint went on but picked up and surged hard late to just miss out on picking up Star Silk. I think further will suit him, but remaining at 1350m isn’t a total negative.

Back Me

Off the run two weeks ago, I couldn’t see 1 Don’t Waiver (Bet Now: $3.60) turning the tables on Guntantes but that horse isn’t racing, so he’s on top. He was second elect in betting in that race behind Guntantes and tried hard, but when it came to crunch time, he didn’t have the change up speed to go with the fav and battled away to run third. The keys for him are upside and that he should be suited up in trip.

Danger

Fitter and up to 2000m are two big ticks for the Team Guy trained 7 Alignment (Bet Now: $9.50), who comes through the Guntantes race from two weeks ago where she was back off the speed and couldn’t really get involved but she did pick up very late in the race, looking like a filly that wants further. She’s a bit improver at likely good odds.

Long Shot

The steep rise in trip is the concern with 4 Smart Meteor (Bet Now: $14.00) but he does look a progressive three year old for the Chris Munce stable, who broke the maiden tag last time out over 1300m at the midweeks at Toowoomba and was impressive despite being unwanted in betting. Clearly harder here, but enormous upside so he’s one to watch.

Race 4. (15:08) HAMILTON HOTEL (BM75) 2200m

In the corner of 3 Red Stina (Bet Now: $4.00). This Rex Lipp trained mare was an impressive winner over the mile here two back before stepping up to ten furlongs a fortnight ago where she was left flat footed on the corner when the sprint went on but picked up and was really good late when a narrow second to Dixie Preacher. Off that, 2200m should be find and finds a winnable race.

Danger

1 Advance Warning (Bet Now: $4.40) is a Tony Gollan trained stayer who is putting together a really good record when racing at 2000m+. Surprising that he was unwanted in betting at the Sunny Coast three weeks ago but nobody told the horse he had no friends as he finished best in a driving go to win in the last couple of strides. Would prefer him on a bigger track, but he’s racing too well to dismiss.

Long Shot

14 Option (Bet Now: $21.00) is absolutely flying for Mick Attard. He’s always promised to be a city class horse and is starting to produce it now. He ran over 2000m here a fortnight ago where he got well back off the pace and when the sprint went on, was flat footed, but surged hard late and just missed out on picking up Dixie Preacher. Like him up to 2200m and is a leading chance.

13 Astro Toy Boy (Bet Now: $2.15) is a quality animal for the Edmonds camp that resumes. This three year old is first up, having not raced since August 24 when scoring an impressive win at the Gold Coast (Metro) when chasing the speed and attacking the line like a good horse. Liked his recent Gold Coast trial and stable has had a great past few weeks.

Danger

If she can get luck in the run from the gate, 12 Winter Passage (Bet Now: $8.50) will take some beating here. Talented mare for Stuart Kendrick who is first up, having not raced since August 3 over 1200m here when wide no cover for the trip behind Six Sigma. Been given a break and looked to move well in a trial at the Sunny Coast last Tuesday. Just needs luck from the barrier.

Long Shot

17 Hydrangea (Bet Now: $27.00) is a Mark Currie trained mare who is facing her toughest test in a while but the stable has her going very well. Comes to town off the back of a strong from off the pace on her home track at Toowoomba last time. To the eye it was good, but the form looks suspect with the runner up beaten as a $1.50 chance last Saturday in a weak race, but down in the weights and draws a soft gate.

Gee 1 Snitch (Bet Now: $2.50) is beautifully placed here for the Tony Gollan camp. He has contested the Keith Noud and Recognition in two runs back from a break. Too far back but made ground late fresh in the Keith Noud and was held but far from disgraced in the Recognition behind Tambo’s Mate. Draws a soft gate and gets in so well after the claim for Nick Keal.

Danger

7 Cabeirian (Bet Now: $11.00) interests me. Gary Doughty trains this gelding, who hasn’t raced for six weeks since contesting a Class 6 over 1200m at Eagle Farm where he was really poorly weighted against some good types, including Tambo’s Mate, who won the race and has gone right on with it since. Freshened up, trialled at the Gold Coast on Monday was quite good, weight relief, soft gate and McGillivray is back on.

Long Shot

14 Last Chance (Bet Now: $13.00) won’t know himself with 54kg on his back. He’s used to carrying 60kg/thereabouts. Lumped 59kg last Saturday here when on speed and tiring late behind Snitz, but do like that he’s on the quick back up, tumbles in weight and from the gate, Wiggins has a few options. Certainly one for multiples.

Can easily make a case for 13 Latin Boy (Bet Now: $19.00) at the big odds. His run behind Ghostly at Kembla two weeks ago was the run of the race IMO, far exceeding market expectation where he was a $61 chance. He was 5/6 wide for the entire trip out in the quicksand yet finished off with purpose late to run a close up sixth. If he can sit closer in the run this time around, I think he’ll run a beauty.

Danger

5 Whypeeo (Bet Now: $5.50) can win this but the start will be crucial to his chances. He’s a quality sprinter who can easily spank these, but last prep, he had the awful habit of beginning terribly and spotting too much head start to his rivals. Been given a good break and loved the way he went in a recent Gold Coast trial, so keen to see how he goes.

Long Shot

2 Badajoz (Bet Now: $17.00) can win this but the start will be crucial to his chances. He’s a quality sprinter who can easily spank these, but last prep, he had the awful habit of beginning terribly and spotting too much head start to his rivals. Been given a good break and loved the way he went in a recent Gold Coast trial, so keen to see how he goes.

If we can get each way odds, I’ll be keen to back 6 Le Juge (Bet Now: $8.50) for Chris Waller. The stable thought he was a Spring Carnival horse after what he did during the Brisbane Winter, but first run back at this level, he was a real eye catcher at the Sunny Coast behind The Candy Man on a shifty track. Should get a firm deck here and is well weighted.

Danger

If we got some rain on the track, 1 The Candy Man (Bet Now: $3.20) is the one to beat. The rain came at the Sunny Coast throughout the day, ensuring juice in the track, which played into the hands of this guy and he bolted up in an impressive return to the winners list. Can he produce that on a dry track? At this level, I think he can.

Long Shot

For multiples, I’d be including 11 Prioritise (Bet Now: $13.00). Steve Tregea trains this gelding, who was second up in the Recogntion where he was put to sleep on the fence from gate one and stuck to the task pretty well in defeat I thought. He’s a horse better suited at 1600m+, so getting out to an ideal trip now and should be close to peak fitness.

Race 9. (18:25) INGLIS JUST NOW F&M 1350m

Back Me

7 Sofie’s Gold Class (Bet Now: $9.50) is facing a pretty stiff test here first up, but she’s got ability and flies fresh. Resumes for Debbie Newham after a three run late Autumn/Winter prep where she won impressively first up before being close up at her next two without winning. Loved the way she trialled at the Sunny Coast and if they go silly in front, she’ll be strong at the end.

Danger

I think a step up in trip should suit the Matty Dunn trained 9 Snow Valley (Bet Now: $4.00), who resumed in the Spirit Of Boom when in a good spot despite a tricky gate and loomed to win but couldn’t quite finish the job when a close up fifth to Miss Fabulass. Think if she can get a soft run in transit this time around and have last look, she’ll be dangerous.

Long Shot

3 Stella Victoria (Bet Now: $16.00) returns to Mares grade and I think she’s a big improver, especially if they go forward, which is a racing pattern which saw he be quite successful just over 12 months ago. Comes through the Recognition when just off the speed and was a beaten horse early on. Have to give her one more chance in what looks a really winnable race.
