7/12/2019 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Kingston Town Classic day

The Tabtouch Masters at Ascot concludes this Saturday with a nine race card, headlined by the Group l Kingston Town Classic (1800m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

1 Starfield Impact (Bet Now: $1.60) has the hard race experience on her side and that will carry her a long way towards victory. She was was well backed two weeks ago in the Crystal Slipper where she led all the way and turned the tables on Our Danni, who was far too good for her rivals in an impressive burst of sustained speed. Will look the winner for a long way.

2 Choice Bid (Bet Now: $12.00) is a Neville Parnham trained juvenile who debuted in the Crystal Slipper two weeks ago when last in the small field and didn’t really look likely at all but picked up late and was pretty good in defeat. I think up in trip rather than back in trip would suit her, but he now has the run under the belt and can sharply improve.

6 Mindarie (Bet Now: $16.00) is a Safeguard filly for Paul Jordan that is on debut. This girl has had two trials in readiness for start one, the latest coming over 950m at Lark Hill when niggled at early on in the straight and finished off well to run second. Stable usually produce a handy juvenile and more often than not have them ready for start one.

A Bunbury maiden straight to a Saturday race is a pretty tough ask but 12 This’lltestya (Bet Now: $1.30) might well be a pretty good horse. The debut maiden win at Bunbury was impressive in leading throughout under Pike, and the big tick for her is that she ran some seven lengths quicker time than the other 1100m maiden and the time was very fast overall for the meeting, which is such a great sign for a young horse at start one. Confident she measures up and wins.

9 City Circle (Bet Now: $10.00) looks the bet here, to place. Fav is short and likely bolts up, so I’d be backing City Circle to place. Resumes for Neville Parnham after a pretty good 3YO season, winning and running well in town throughout. No trials leading in, but draws to get a suck run, either leaders back or three back at worst. Should run top three.

4 Pasajero (Bet Now: $51.00) can be an improver at odds. This gelding attempted to lead all the way over 1200m last time out here but as soon as pressure was applied, he folded and was disappointing. I reckon 1200m sees him right out, so back to 1100m looks a tick and if he can show more fight like he did at York, he’s a winning threat here.

8 Midnight Sky (Bet Now: $3.30) does look the Bob Peters mare that will progress through the Mares series and up to the mile here she’ll do me. She was solid enough fresh over the mile behind Forceful before coming back to 1200m in the Jungle Mist two weeks ago and really liked the way she found the line behind Electric Light. She’ll win one of the Jungle races at least. Can do it after winning this.

3 Jedaffair (Bet Now: $4.40) has been in super form this time in for the Adam Durrant stable. Ran over 1800m here two weeks ago where Pike put her into a sweet spot just off the speed and loomed to win but couldn’t quite get past Harry Thomas, who was on speed and was too tough on the day, just. Like her back to the mile, hard fit and in form.

1 Lordhelpmerun (Bet Now: $7.50) is the knockout chance. Was touted as a Railway chance by the stable but in two lead up runs against Railway class company, he didn’t measure up. Then went to the Carbine Club where he was run off his legs and never really in the hunt. Drops big time in grade/depth and those dreaded Bar Plates come off.

I think 3 Carocapo (Bet Now: $2.90) can continue his winning ways. Jim Taylor trains this gelding, who ran over this track/distance two weeks ago when sitting off a good speed before angling wider on the turn and unleashing a very strong finale to race clear and score a dominant win. Think there is more to come from him and should take some beating here.

4 The Nicconian (Bet Now: $4.50) is on the seven day back up for the Neville Parnham team after racing over 1100m here last Saturday when doing a bit of work early to hold up from the inside gate and that early burn took the finale away from him at the end when a close up fifth to stablemate Guns Of Navarrone. With a more economical steer, he can bounce back.

1 Dutch Spy (Bet Now: $10.00) is three weeks between runs for Paul Roberts after racing over the 1100m here when attempting to lead all the way at a pretty decent clip and gave a mini but tired the last furlong after going too quick in front when down the track behind Undisclosed. 1200m is a little query, but if he doesn’t go as hard this time around, he’ll run a cheeky race on speed.

Just how good is 2 Massimo? (Bet Now: $1.75) There is no limit to how good he is, but Adam Durant does rate him as one of the most exciting animals he’s trained, and considering some of the horse flesh he has trained in the past, it’s a fair wrap. He won the Placid Ark two weeks ago and to be fair, I think the narrow margin flattered his rivals. Pike rode a bit cute on the turn instead of rolling but he was strongest on the line. 1400m is fine and just has to hold his form to win again.

5 Laverrod (Bet Now: $3.60) is still a maiden but he’s a serious chance here. He resumed in the Placid Ark off the back of impressive trials and loomed to beat Massimo but a lack of race fitness brought him undone in the end when beaten narrowly by the Durrant three year old. He does have plenty of upside to come. The query is 1400m.

6 Special Beau (Bet Now: $41.00) is a Brazen Beau gelding for Team Williams that comes through a 0MW race at this track/distance back on November 20 when back off the speed and in the form guide, it was just a run, but he should have finished much closer, getting badly held up for a run near the line. Better luck here and he can cause problems at odds.

Been a little while since 2 Electric Light (Bet Now: $2.30) has raced at 1400m but the way she’s been racing recently, she’ll eat it up and against the Mares, she’s hard to beat. Excellent from the back two back in the Prince Of Wales behind Flirtini before going to the Jungle Mist where Pike had her in the perfect spot just behind the speed and when she let down, she produced a brilliant finale. Off that, she’s the one.

Interesting that 1 Perfect Jewel (Bet Now: $7.50) comes back to 1400m and back to Mares grade. She’s got class as well, having placed in the Asian Beau two back before being outclassed but far from disgraced in the Railway behind Regal Power. She has the runs on the board compared to most engaged here and can win without surprising for sure.

I think with a more conservative steer, 4 Snowchino (Bet Now: $8.00) is a big improver here at odds. Just ridden a touch too aggressively for mine first up in the Jungle Mist which really set it up for those behind but she battled away pretty well in defeat I thought. Better suited when getting a bit of cover and not going as hard, so if that eventuates, she’s a big improver.

7 Arcadia Prince (Bet Now: $10.00) is bursting to win a race and he gets his chance here. Disappointing resumption first up in the Lee Steere behind Star Exhibit before going to the Carbine Club two weeks ago when back off a good speed and just took a little while to wind up but loved the way he found the line when third to Uni Time. He’s back on track and can win this.

8 Stageman (Bet Now: $4.20) is unknown at 1400m but really, it’s an unknown as to how close he would have gone his past couple in the Colonel Reeves and Winterbottom respectively given he’s been badly held up when wanting to build the revs and dash. He is a query at 1400m, but does have brilliance and Pike remains on, which is a big tick.

5 Wrinkly (Bet Now: $19.00) is a tough, on speed customer for Neville Parnham who did plenty of work near the front two weeks ago in the Carbine Club but kept kicking strongly and really, was only bloused late by Uni Time in a blanket finish. His best chance of winning will be if he leads, by himself, and is allowed to roll. Hard to beat if that eventuates.

15 Kay Cee (Bet Now: $11.00) has the ability to take this out. Very good three year old filly for Neville Parnham who comes through the WA Guineas from two weeks ago and her run in defeat was absolutely enormous. Copped a bad check early, which cost her the win, combined with the slow tempo set by the eventual winner and stablemate War Saint. She’ll eat up 1800m. Just hope she can sit closer in the run.

I don’t think 16 Tuscan Queen (Bet Now: $3.00) is as good as Arcadia Queen, but she brings near identical form lines leading in. Beaten in the Burgess Queen and then came out to bolt up in the Champion Fillies ala the stablemate last year before going on to score a breathtaking win in this race. Should eat up 1800m and Pike had plenty of options for the race but goes with the filly.

2 Gatting (Bet Now: $17.00) is the proven big time performer given he won the Makybe Diva during the Melbourne Spring. He contested the Railway and was pretty good in defeat but at the same time was well held by Regal Power, so will need to improve off that in order to win, but the big tick for him is the rise to 1800m and the fact he has the runs on the board.

Buttering up with 11 Sentimental Gift (Bet Now: $2.30) for the Williams camp. She ran over this track/distance three weeks ago when looking a good thing on paper but just got a mile out of her ground but finished off with purpose behind British Bessy, who was excellent in defeat last Saturday, so that form reads well enough for this and is in the right stable.

8 British Bessy (Bet Now: $4.60) is a key chance back up to this trip, which she won at two back in the race mentioned above. Came back to 1800m last Saturday and was never really a winning threat given how far back she was but loved the way she found the line late in the piece, looking like a 2000m+ mare, so back up in trip, she appeals.

14 Vintage Stock (Bet Now: $18.00) is a bit of an unknown at the trip in the sense that she’s raced at it a few times and been just fair, but for multiples I’d be including her because she certainly has the ability to take this out. Wasn’t beaten that far in the British Bessy race from three weeks ago and worked to the line pretty well in defeat I thought. One for exotics.
