7/1/2023 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Ascot, Easingwold Stakes day

5 Kamaka (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top but this is a very thin 2YO race. Michael Grantham trained filly that is on debut off the back of a couple of decent trials, the latest seeing her win and she did it with something in hand. This race is seriously lacking on the depth front and drawn to get a good run, likely in front, she’s the one for me, but it’s more of a watch race and move on.

3 More Special (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the quick back up for Paul Jordan after racing over 1100m on Sunday here where she was leading and gave a stack of cheek in front but couldn’t quite finish it off when second to Shaddow Fear. Back to 1000m looks a positive, should find the front and with hard race fitness/experience under the belt, she rates highly as a leading threat.

4 Fine Line (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Universal Ruler filly that is on debut. She’s had a couple of trials to get ready for start one, the latest trial coming last week at Lark Hill over 400m where she seemed to move pretty well and wasn’t too bad in defeat under not much pressure. This stable are a bit on/off with first starters and Lucy sticks from the trial. Sneaky knockout chance.

6 The Lady Is A Vamp (Bet Now:  $SP.00) on top for me. Lou Luciani trained mare that has been up a little while, but is holding her form quite nicely. Ran over this track/distance on New Years Day where she gave a good sight near the speed and was there to win but couldn’t quite finish the job when second to Nobelity. Should get run of the race from the gate and prove hard to beat.

7 Desert Vixen (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat in a race lacking depth. Simon Miller trained mare that resumes, having not raced since August 17 at Belmont when close up in defeat behind Dais in a good effort. She is a mare that can sprint well fresh and looks to have trialled up well in readiness for the return. Just needs luck from a sticky gate to be around the mark.

3 Silkinize (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a David Harrison trained mare that resumes. She hasn’t raced since May 21 at Belmont when producing an end of prep run behind Gates Of Babylon, beaten just over four lengths. Just one soft trial to get ready but is a mare that can sprint well fresh and her best is certainly good enough.

1 Fiorucci Mama (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a short course specialist and looks hard to beat once again. Dominant win two back over 1200m at Belmont before going to 1100m at Northam where she led throughout and gave them a spanking in fast time. Think she will lead this field and hopefully Taj just lets her roll and give them little chance of a look in. Hard to beat.

8 Mia Gusto (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is better suited over further but she will be launching late if they overdo it in front. She resumes for Adam Durrant, having not raced since August 20 at Belmont over 1400m when a closing third to a pretty solid animal, Rejuva King. Just one soft trial to get ready, but ability wise, is probably the best horse in the race, so watch the market and see what it does with her.

9 Deetea (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been up a little while but is holding her form pretty well. She ran down the straight at Pinjarra on Boxing Day and had her chance but was close up in defeat behind an in form Aunty Jean. Tricky draw to overcome, but hard fit, will press forward and could pinch a first four spot if she can get on speed comfortably.

1 Acromantula (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a flat track bully that is lead or bust so happy to be in his corner. He ran in the Summer Scorcher on Sunday where he had to sit outside the leader and eventual winner, How’s The Serenity, and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get there when third. Drawn gate one, should lead this field up and he is a much better horse when finding the front.

2 Beads (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat. Four weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where he chased Acromantula throughout and tried his guts out but couldn’t get past that horse. He does seem to go best on the fresh side so the break between runs I like and if Acromantula cops pressure in front, Beads will be one of the strongest late.

7 Pink Carats (Bet Now:  $SP.00) deserves another look. Resumed two weeks back at this track/distance when wide no cover on speed and that hard run just told late behind Moi Choux. If he can get better luck in the run this time around, I think he’ll run a much improved race and a win wouldn’t shock at all at a likely decent price.

3 Time Scale (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the way to go in what appears to be a race in two. Ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where she attempted to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but was no match late for Burnya To Survive, who is, outside Amelia’s Jewel, the most promising horse in WA, so clearly I am trusting that as a form reference, lands on speed from the gate, claim for Watson…like her a lot.

4 Cash Away (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win and I do think 1200m will be okay for him. He ran a fortnight back over 1000m here where he got a fair way out of his ground but really liked the way he found the line late in the piece behind Moi Choux. Yet to tick the 1200m box but the way he finds the line, he should be okay, and will be dangerous if he’s within range on the turn.

9 My Dilemma (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is sneaky flying for David Harrison. Two weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where she was back near last in the run and was never a threat but was good late behind a handy animal, Brave Venture. Tricky gate, but hopefully gets decent cover, a drag into the race and will be one of the strongest late.

6 Hardly Ever (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the one to beat for Simon Miller. Ran over 1500m here two weeks ago when wide no cover for the trip and was entitled to knock right up but she kept finding and was only bloused late by The Velvet Queen, who ran super in the La Trice on Sunday, so the form reads well, she maps to get a much better run in transit and the depth here is nowhere near as strong.

7 Sentimental Hero (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in for a good prep. Unwanted in betting when resuming in The Velvet Queen race mentioned above from a fortnight back and despite having no friends in betting, he worked to the line with real purpose and was good in defeat behind the in form mare. The mile, I think, will be okay, and with good upside, is one of the main threats.

9 Hear Me Sing (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over this track/distance where he was wide no cover for the trip and the hard run just told late when tiring, finishing down the track behind Knot Secret. Draws to get a much more economical run and off prior efforts, he’s in with a shout at a price as a winning prospect and a must for multiples.

Not much of a 1MW race. Looks a race in two and am leaning the way of 5 Currimundi (Bet Now:  $SP.00), who is second up here for Steve Wolfe. He resumed at this track/distance two weeks ago in what was a very slowly run race, so that, plus held up, he did a good job to finish as close as he did behind Seeable, who had control on speed and kicked on too strongly. Unbeaten second up and with clear air from the outset, he’ll do me.

8 Category Three (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Adam Durrant. Five weeks between runs since racing at this track/distance where she got back off the speed and was held up at times but liked the way she found the line late in the piece behind Trade War, who was flying at the time. Break between runs intrigues but she has a touch of quality and will be strong late.

11 Saturn Black (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been runner up her past couple and a win wouldn’t shock at all here. He ran over 1400m at Belmont last time and was good late in defeat, looming to win but just missed out on the win when second to Rulelee. Tricky gate to overcome but if she can get a drag into the race, she’ll be dangerous and can certainly finish over the top.

If there is petrol left in the tank, it does look a lovely race for 3 Buzzoom (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Dynamic winner of the Jungle Dawn before going to the Starstruck when wide no cover for the trip but was game in defeat behind Alsephina, who franked the form on Sunday in the La Trice. Like her back in trip and with the claim, she maps ideally and at her best, she looks the one they have to beat.

2 Samizdat (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Team Gangemi since racing over this track/distance where he was back near last in the run and was good late without threatening behind Billy Ain’t Silly. Draws to get a much better run in transit and the depth here, as a whole, isn’t overly strong, so he has to be respected against these.

8 Flying Missile (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is suited back up to 1400m. She was 1400m back to 1200m two weeks back and seemingly had her chance but was beaten by a Stakes winner of the future, Burnya To Survive. Like her back up in distance and should get run of the race from the gate. Her best is good enough to threaten but realistically, she’s more of a top four chance.

12 Paigey’s Turn (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gets back up to 1800m and is hard fit, in form. She is on the quick back up after racing over the mile here on Sunday where she spotted them a decent start but liked the way she found the line late in the piece behind Special View. The depth in that race looked much stronger than what she faces here and the rise to 1800m is a big tick for her.

4 Vevinsky (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will land on the bunny and prove hard to run down. He led throughout to bolt up at this track/distance at the midweeks, where Pike rode the perfect race in front and gave nothing else a look in. This isn’t a strong Saturday metro race, he has the right racing pattern and doesn’t lose much with McGruddy replacing Pike. Hard to beat.

6 Honorific (Bet Now:  $SP.00) brings Geraldton form, which doesn’t travel usually, but this race is a bit on the thin side so he could pinch a first four spot. Ran over 2100m at Geraldton last time out where he was quite keen in the run and got going early but going early just left him stranded late and tired to finish second. Like him back in trip and hopefully the tempo will be more genuine.

BEST BET: Race Four Number 1 Acromantula

NEXT BEST: Race Three Number 1 Fiorucci Mama

LONG SHOT: Race Nine Number 12 Paigey’s Turn
