Race One (13:30) : Jim Beam Handicap 1200m:
Back Me: A race I’d recommend to avoid betting on. But for this purpose, I’ll put 7 Fallen For You (Best Odds: $4.00) on top. He ran over 1050m here a fortnight back when running a game third to Bagus. Little suspect at 1200m, but this is a very thin race.
Big Danger: 4 Yeezy (Best Odds: $3.60) lost the rider on debut on his home track at Toowoomba before running at Ipswich last Wednesday and a game second to Reward For Riches. He was well backed that day, so I’ll respect that market push here in an even contest.
Roughie: 2 Butter Toast (Best Odds: $11.00) debuts here for Ben Currie. This son of Written Tycoon comes here off the back of a trial placing on his home track at Toowoomba. As I said, this is a race I don’t want a bar of, so betting will be the best guide.

Race Two (14:05) : Canadian Club Handicap (75) 2200m:
Back Me: Going for the one with upside, which is 15 Cool Water (Best Odds: $31.00). She ran over this distance in a Gold Coast maiden a couple of weeks back and just loved the step up in trip, bolting clear late to win quite impressively. Harder here, but she has upside and will be very, very strong at the end of a tough 2200m.
Big Danger: 2 Outraged (Best Odds: $3.60) stepped out to this trip for the first time last start where he was given every chance by Luke Dittman, and looked home, but he bumped into Cramming and had to settle for second. Now that he has got the run under the belt, he will take some beating.
Roughie: 11 Tampere (Best Odds: $16.00) started bolters odds in that Cramming race and he ran a pretty solid race when fourth, beaten just over four lengths. I don’t think he can win here, but he will stay all day and will box on, perhaps for a place with the right trip.

Race Three (14:40) : Makers Mark Plate (Class 6) 1200m:
Back Me: 9 Flight Academy (Best Odds: $4.40) comes here off the back of a good second over this trip at Ipswich when a close up second to Dream Finnish, beaten narrowly. She is bursting to win a race and I think she gets her chance now through the scratchings.
Big Danger: 1 Adorabubble (Best Odds: $4.80) comes here off the back of an unplaced effort in the Nudgee (1200m) behind Tina Melina after getting stuck wide no cover for the entire trip. Draws much better here, and the last time this mare won, Beau Appo steered, and he is back on.
Roughie: 7 Spirit Of Heaven (Best Odds: $4.20) is now under the care of Desleigh Forster after being with Peter Moody. Her form in the Winter was solid without winning, and she couldn’t quite take the next step to blacktype. Looked sharp in a recent Deagon trial and she can sprint well fresh. Watch for market moves.

Race Four (15:17) : Mount Franklin Handicap (85) 1640m:
Back Me: 5 Gold Horizon (Best Odds: $6.50) has been up for a long time, but continues to race so well, as we saw last time out over this track/distance when winning impressively at ridiculous odds. He won’t start double figures here and it’s hard to ignore him because he is just so genuine.
Big Danger: 3 Trakstar (Best Odds: $12.00) was backed at odds to win that race mentioned above, but he got stuck wide early before pressing forward and really just had no luck when seventh to Gold Horizon, beaten under four lengths. He is up there with Von Costa De Hero in terms of following, but on his best form, he’d be awfully hard to hold out.
Roughie: 7 Oak ‘N’ Arthur (Best Odds: $16.00) is on the back up from last Saturday where he stuck on alright when sixth to the talented Right Or Wrong. He gets a big, big weight pull on that horse here and Beau Apoo gets back on, and he rides the horse very well.

Race Five (15:57) : Coca Cola Handicap 1110m:
Back Me: 8 Mystical Renegade (Best Odds: $5.50) is an unbeaten son of Magic Albert who is two from two. He resumed on January 3 at Murwillumbah and won with a bit of ease. Has since trialled at Grafton and looked outstanding there in winning by a space. Toughest test to date, but he looks as though he will comfortably measure up.
Big Danger: 14 Nieta (Best Odds: $4.50) was kept very safe in the market when debuting at Ballina and she just bolted up, winning by a space and running smart time for the journey. Steps up straight to town, which isn’t easy, but there is plenty to like about her.
Roughie: 4 Reddson (Best Odds: $11.00) resumed over 1050m here and worked home alright late without threatening when sixth to Quick Ketch, beaten just over two lengths in a pleasing return. Go back to last prep and he has some solid form lines, including Stakes winner Secret Saga. He can charge late if the speed is on.

Race Six (16:37) : Coke Zero Plate (Class 6) 1200m:
Back Me: 10 Kraftwerk (Best Odds: $3.80) made his Queensland debut over 1000m at the Sunny Coast three weeks back when running a close up third to Assertory, who ran well last Saturday here to frank the form. Better off at 1200m I feel and he should only be better off.
Big Danger: 7 Profiler (Best Odds: $3.80) ran over 1200m at the Sunny Coast three weeks back where he attempted to lead all the way but faded late when fourth to Three Sheets. I think he is better ridden slightly off the speed, and from the good gate, he should get every chance.
Roughie: 5 Chalupa (Best Odds: $3.80) could be an improver here at odds. He has been given a five week freshen up since running over 1400m at the Sunny Coast when finishing down the track behind Glorious Red. He can run well on a wet track and will be strong at the end of a slogging 1200m.

Race Seven (17:17) : Sprite Handicap 1350m:
Back Me: 1 Steel Zip (Best Odds: $7.00) is a greybeard who is racing as well as ever. His effort on Magic Millions Day behind Buffering was excellent given he was wide most of the way. He’ll have to do work here from the gate, but he looks hard to beat with luck.
Big Danger: 4 Hidden Warrior (Best Odds: $6.00) makes the trip north after running third in the Carrington Stakes at Randwick a couple of weeks back behind Zin Zan Eddie. Decent drop in depth here, and Gordon Yorke doesn’t send them away for a holiday, so he is a definite winning chance IMO.
Roughie: 7 Lauterbrunnen (Best Odds: $7.00) is best over further, but there was plenty to like about his first up effort over 1200m here when closing off strongly to run a close up second to Heart Smart. He will be benefited by the added fitness, extra trip and perhaps a more genuine tempo.

Race Eight (17:57) : Cascade Handicap (0MW) 1350m:
Back Me: 2 Heart Of A Warrior (Best Odds: $4.50) resumed over this track/distance a fortnight back and sat on speed most of the way where he ran well but was no match for the very impressive winner Hotel Drive. Looks much better off here fitness wise, and the speed should be on courtesy of his stablemate, so he ticks all the boxes.
Big Danger: 4 Bernitchy (Best Odds: $7.00) led all the way last start at Ipswich over this trip, where he wasn’t really wanted in betting, but credit where credit is due because he did it in front. He’ll set the speed again here, and as we know, when the rail is out at Doomben, leaders are advantaged.
Roughie: 14 Pearly Court (Best Odds: $11.00) wasn’t really wanted at odds when racing over this track/distance last time out but she stuck on well when running fourth to Taltarni, beaten 1.5L. Draws well here and should do no work, so she is a must for exotics.
