An eight race card has been set down for Eagle Farm on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out eight metres for the entire circuit.
Race 1. (13:05) Bbht Hcp 1000m
Very tough race for the babies to start the program. Blinkers on first time with a significant jockey upgrade, I’ll go with 2 Mishani Mental (Bet Now: $6.50). He has had three career outings and hasn’t been too bad, but I do think back to 1000m with the headgear and a strong jockey who takes no BS, he’ll do me.
5 Lady Laguna (Bet Now: $4.60) is an interesting runner. Daughter of Overshare for Annabel Neasham that is on debut off the back of one soft trial where she looked to move well without really threatening to win the trial. Stable rarely get it wrong when they travel, so keen to see how she goes.
10 Slinky’s Star (Bet Now: $21.00) is right down in the weights after the claim and commands respect. Hard in the market on debut over 900m at the Gold Coast. Just not sure she was entirely happy on the wet track so want to be forgiving. Gets in well at the weights and I think the bigger track, extra 100m, run under the belt, she can improve.
Race 2. (13:45) Bounty Cup (c3) 1400m
1 Go Wandji (Bet Now: $1.35) could be a Carnival class horse. Summer Carnival might be too soon, but he’s got the makings of being a Winter Carnival horse next year. Defied a betting drift two weeks ago at Doomben and he made an absolute mess of them, winning by a space and moving like a good horse. Confident he wins again.
3 Danezel (Bet Now: $5.50) is the only horse I can see threatening Go Wandji. He ran fourth to that horse in the race mentioned above. He was a mile back in the run and never really a winning threat, but the finale was more than sound. Smaller field helps his cause and if the fav is off his game, he can win.
6 Extreme Jewel (Bet Now: $13.00) can sneak a first four spot. Ran over 1350m at Ipswich last time out and worked home strongly late when a narrow second to Nicci’s Spirit. I doubt she’s good enough to take a race like this out, but I think she’s going well enough to get a minor spot.
Race 3. (14:25) Dd Group International (bm75) 1840m
I think you can back two horses in this race and make a profit. On top though is 4 Stuck With You (Bet Now: $4.60), who is knocking on the door to win. He tried hard last start on the Kenso track but couldn’t quite finish it off when third Mightybeel. That form does read well and is a track/distance winner.
8 Continuation (Bet Now: $5.50) is the one with upside and only 51kg on his back, he’ll be popular. Resumed over 1500m at Hawkesbury and finished off his race with real purpose late when a narrow second to Caesar’s Palace, who has run well in town before, so despite this being Provincial form, it shouldn’t be dismissed, and the rise to 1800m suits.
3 Alderman (Bet Now: $11.00) is a little query at 1800m, but he’ll be helped by a likely soft lead. Ran over the mile at Doomben two weeks back when attempting to lead throughout and he gave a solid kick from the front. Just tired late when third to Kubrick. If he gets a soft lead, the 1800m should be okay and is a knockout hope if the track is playing towards those on speed.
Race 4. (15:05) Mfl Group (bm75) 1000m
I think getting some form of weight relief will definitely help 5 Frozen In Time (Bet Now: $10.00). Kris Lees trained mare that was luckless two back at Toowoomba. Had a few weeks off and ran at Doomben where she was no chance given the race shape. Tempo should be more genuine this time around and I think she can bounce back.
6 Shamaton (Bet Now: $1.40) is racing well at the moment for Tony Gollan. Dominant winner two back at this track/distance before going to Doomben and that race mentioned above where he had the suck run behind the speed and tried hard, just failing to pick up Lyrical Girl. Back to Eagle Farm, he can win.
1 Wudang Blade (Bet Now: $20.00) is a 1000m specialist and will be out of trouble on speed. 1100m on testing ground found him out at the Gold Coast last time so I want to be forgiving of that outing. Gets in well after the claim and will be helped if there is an on speed/rail bias.
Race 5. (15:43) Lexus Hcp 1400m
Tricky race for the three year olds. 4 It’s All Talk (Bet Now: $7.50) is racing very well. This filly has had two runs back from a spell. Resumed with a win over 1200m at Doomben before stepping up to 1400m. Given the race shape and track pattern for the meeting, those from the back had no chance, this girl included, but her finale was sound behind Rhapsody Rose. Hard to beat.
7 Rayjen (Bet Now: $1.80) should get run of the race from the draw and up to 1400m should suit this Rob Heathcoate filly. Resumed over 1200m at Doomben a couple of weeks back when near the speed throughout and battled on pretty well when a close up third to Single Dizire in a blanket finish. Better for the run, she’ll take beating.
2 Sergeant Silva (Bet Now: $7.50) is a stablemate of Rayjen that comes here off a freshen up. Hasn’t raced since September 4 when a strong winner over the mile here, making it three on the bounce. Tick over trial to get ready last week was a good piece of work and he’ll be strong at the end.
Race 6. (16:20) Global Engr. & Construction 1500m
Third up from a break, I think 2 Ligulate (Bet Now: $2.70) can get the job done. In need of the run fresh at this track/distance. Then came back to 1350m at Doomben two weeks ago and drove hard late, just missing out on the win. Third up, hard fit now, he looks primed to run well.
3 At Witz End (Bet Now: $8.50) is a very honest animal for Owen Glue who won’t be far away from the action. Resumed off a let up a fortnight back in that Doomben race mentioned above. He was near the speed throughout and tried hard. Just couldn’t quite finish the job. Better for the run, he’ll take beating.
10 Baanone (Bet Now: $16.00) is hit and miss but his best is certainly good enough to take this out. He was plain here two back behind Adelase. Then went to Doomben a few weeks ago and was excellent from the back behind Green Jacket. If he brings that effort here, he’ll take a power of beating.
Race 7. (16:58) Mas Hire An Apprentice (rs0mw) 1400m
5 Hallowed Girl (Bet Now: $19.00) should be much better suited at 0MW grade. Was at this two back and was an impressive winner at this track/distance. She then went to a strong Class 6 and found the class a bit much when last to Ziemba. Better suited here and can bounce back hard.
2 For My Annie (Bet Now: $4.00) is on the seven day back up for Lindsay Hatch after a dominant all the way win last Saturday on her home track at Toowoomba, but the run prior was a beauty behind Acrobatic, which clearly reads well for this and gets Brad Stewart taking the ride.
1 Safado (Bet Now: $4.20) is a track/distance winner and has upside to come. Good return fresh at Port Macquarie before going to Doomben two weeks back and was good late behind the very much in form Sir Warwick. Should get a lovely run from the draw and his best is good enough.
Race 8. (17:42) Workforce Success (bm85) 1200m
I think 5 Wonderful Riri (Bet Now: $5.50) can resume a winner. O’Dea/Hoysted trained mare that resumes after a fabulous Winter prep, highlighted by a narrow second in the Silk Stocking at the Gold Coast. Just one trial to get ready, but she’s a proper race horse and stable are hard to beat at Eagle Farm.
10 Ruuca (Bet Now: $6.00) is a hard horse to catch but his best is certainly good enough to take this out. Ran over 1200m at Doomben several weeks back and worked home strongly from off the speed when second to Say Haya, a surprise winner, so how strong is the form? Not sure, but this horse is talented.
9 She Za Boss (Bet Now: $6.50) comes here several weeks between runs since her resumption over this track/distance when back in the run and closing off strongly late when third to Boom Spender. The break between runs I find interesting but she has the talent to measure up here.
