Nine races will be run and won at Gawler on Wednesday. Weather is fine, track is good (4) and the rail is out two metres from the 800m-400m; True for the remainder.

Race 1. (12:57) Kingsford Hotel Handicap (76) 1504m
1 Turbeau (Bet Now: $SP.00) I like here for the Briedoake/Jenkins camp. He did more than enough first up on the Parks track at Morphettville when beaten a lip by Magnetic Edge before racing two weeks ago at The Valley where nothing went right for him behind Flash Feeling and just forget he went around. Third up, hard fit, strikes a winnable race, happy to be in his corner.
2 Magnetic Edge (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give a bold sight. He ran a fortnight back at Murray Bridge when on speed throughout and he tried his guts out but he couldn’t quite get there, run down late by Aitch D’Amico. Horrible record at Gawler but he’s racing in super form and strikes a winnable race.
5 Excelman (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at Morphettville where he got back off the speed and didn’t really come on behind an in form galloper, Test The Law. I doubt he wins, but if they ride with intent and settle handy, he can pinch a first four spot at odds.
Race 2. (13:32) Sanders Fodder Handicap (74) 2104m
5 Eaglelou (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks the one on the up and finds a winnable race for mine. Magro/Bush trained gelding that ran over this track/distance three weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground but I really liked the way he found the line late when second to impressive winner and in form mare Arugamama. He has that run at the trip under the belt and will be able to settle closer. Hard to beat.
4 Wheels (Bet Now: $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Andrew Gluyas. She ran in the Bordertown Cup last time out where she just got too far back in a slowly run race and did a great job to get as close as she did when second to Badonkidonk. Has run well at the track/distance previously and is bursting to win a race. She gets her chance here.
6 Dazzling Prospect (Bet Now: $SP.00) is in with a shout for Barry Campbell. He ran over 1800m last Saturday at Morphettville where he got a fair way out of his ground and was forced widest on the turn but made up headway and was pretty good in defeat behind Rebel Consortium. Up in trip I find interesting and he’s been up a while but hard to knock how he’s racing.
Race 3. (14:07) Irongate Australia Handicap (82) 1100m
I am leaning towards 1 Aston Rapova (Bet Now: $SP.00) for the Francis/Kent camp. He ran at Murray Bridge two weeks ago where he got a fair way off the speed and was never really a threat but I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Magic Max. Great third up record, good stats at Gawler and if he can settle closer in the run, he’ll be strong at the end.
7 Pompeii Empire (Bet Now: $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Team Jolly. He resumed on Boxing Day at Morphettville and I really liked the way he knuckled down to get the win. The race was there to be won and he dug in superbly when required to fend them off and win. Good upside to come, good racing style, genuine…commands respect.
5 Star Hills (Bet Now: $SP.00) is an improver at odds I feel. Forgive the run at Murray Bridge two weeks back when wide no cover on speed and that hard run just told late in the piece, tiring to finish down the track behind Magic Max. Not sure I could back him to win but for exotics, he must be entertained.
Race 4. (14:42) Holdfast Insurance Brokers Handicap (68) 1704m
1 Dixie Whistler (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. She did a power of work when racing at Morphettville on Boxing Day and she tried her guts out, keeping on finding the line, but had to settle for a second to Bonnie Gangster. Hard fit, up in trip, should slide forward and prove hard to beat.
7 Missile Star (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and prove hard to run down. All the way winner three weeks back at this track/distance, dominating from the front and giving nothing else a look in, winning impressively. Been up a while but she is holding her form superb, and I think is getting better the more the prep goes. Down in the weights, good racing style, hard to get past.
8 Plaisir (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one for exotics. He ran two weeks back at Murray Bridge where he attempted to lead throughout and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite see it through when fourth to Bamyan Buddha. I am sure he will give a sight near the front…doubt he wins, but I think he can run top four for sure without surprising.
Race 5. (15:17) Supporting The McGrath Foundation Handicap (1MWLY) 1504m
7 Second To Nun (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it. That win came at Murray Bridge on Monday where she was near the speed, ridden with intent, and the change of tactics worked because she made an absolute mess of them. She has been disappointing this time in but that win can see her turn the corner and live up to the early promise from this prep where she teased to win races.
2 Heir Of Tavistock (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and take running down. He did that three weeks ago at this track/distance and gave a decent sight but couldn’t quite see it through but stayed on and was good in defeat when third to Montign. Massive drop in depth here, good racing style, he commands respect.
5 Angaston (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. Jon O’Connor trained gelding that resumed two weeks back at Murray Bridge over 1200m where he found them a bit sharp but he was far from disgraced in defeat behind La Defense. Good record at the track and is a track/distance winner. Knockout hope.
Race 6. (15:52) Coopers Brewery Australian Lager Handicap (64) 1200m
8 Meg’s Magic (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks to have a bit on these IMO. This filly resumed in a Sale maiden where she gave them a start and a beating, launching late from near last to record a big maiden win. Has a gate to settle much closer in the run and with good upside to come, off a win, I think she is the good thing on the program.
3 Voltage Point (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks like he will appreciate racing at this level. Chris Bieg trained gelding that ran over 1200m at The Valley last time out where he was outclassed but far from disgraced in defeat I thought behind a nice horse, Explosive Thinker, and keep in mind he was wide no cover. With a more economical run in transit, I think he can run a much improved race.
1 Harley’N’Rose (Bet Now: $SP.00) should like getting up in trip for Richards/Moyle. This gelding resumed three weeks back at Gawler where he was close up in defeat behind Lapilli and yes, he was held, but he was held up at times and he should have finished closer. Clear air this time around, he has the quality to run an improved race.
Race 7. (16:32) Terrance Function Centre Handicap (Class 1) 1100m
5 Eroica (Bet Now: $SP.00) might well be above average. She debuted in what looked a solid maiden at Strathalbyn but she made an absolute mess of them from on speed, moving like a nice horse and won by a space in solid enough time. Tricky gate to overcome, but she can slide forward and in a Class 1, she doesn’t need to improve much to take this out.
9 Manuka Bay (Bet Now: $SP.00) is racing in consistent form for Travis Doudle and commands respect. Broke the maiden tag two back at Morphettville over 1200m before going to 1100m on Boxing Day when near the speed and battled away well enough to finish third. Should land on speed and hard fit, racing well, she’s a threat for sure.
6 Tres Belle (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came in the 1100m race at Morphettville mentioned above where she got a fair way out of her ground and did make up headway without threatening. Tricky gate to overcome, but if they roll the dice and go forward, find a spot, she’s dangerous.
Race 8. (17:12) Paxton Street Storage Handicap (68) 1200m
5 Just Like Lisa (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems the straight bat option for Justin Pickering. This mare has won her past two, the latest being three weeks ago at this track/distance where she got the dream run behind the speed before angling clear and finished best for a narrow but strong win. Maps to stalk the speed once again, get every chance and with the claim, she is so well in.
3 Roxy Blue (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying for Team Oxlade and with a good racing style, she appeals. She was a dominant all the way winner two back at Strahthalbyn before proving that was no fluke with a win at Morphettville a few weeks ago where she led throughout and showed good ticker late to fend off a nice mare, Zebella. The end of 1200m will be the test but hard to knock how well she’s racing.
11 Whenthedeelingsdun (Bet Now: $SP.00) is in with a shout. First run for Team Jaensch came at Strathalbyn where she was wide no cover throughout and looked gone at stages but she found under pressure and kept finding the line to win and win well. Right down in the weights, off a win, she’ll be strong at the end and is a definite winning chance.
Race 9. (18:00) Oksana Caretti Millinery Handicap (62) 1200m
I think 4 Quik Rhapid (Bet Now: $SP.00) can measure up for Jamie Opperman. Progressive animal that has won his past two, toughing it out strongly on speed to win the maiden two back at Penshurst before going to Bordertown where he gave them a start and a beating in a sharp display. Good test here at Saturday metro level but he’s heading in the right direction.
1 Another Ponzi (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Jolly trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since July 22 on the Parks track at Morphettville where he just looked a tired horse in an end of prep run behind Son Of Bielski. Good fresh horse and with two jumpouts under the belt, there looks to be intent.
13 Toast The Deel (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate a rise to 1200m. Clarken/O’Shea trained mare that resumed two weeks back at Murray Bridge over 1000m where she got too far back in the run and was never a factor when down the track behind My Ruby. Might want one more and a further rise in trip, but if she can get a drag into the race, she’ll be dangerous I am sure.
