5/4/2021 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Hawkesbury, Easter Monday races

Seven races have been set down for Hawkesbury on Monday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Tricky race to start the meeting. Landed with 3 Real Peace (Bet Now: $3.90) for Clarry Conners. Yet to beat a horse home in two runs back from a spell, but both races have come in unsuitable races, and last start was wide no cover throughout. Showed good promise in the Spring and if she is to head towards an Oaks, she’d want to be winning this.

5 Lamu (Bet Now: $4.00) is on the quick back up after racing last Saturday in the Epona at Rosehill. Thrown in the deep end in search of blacktype and was just outclassed behind Polly Grey. This is the easiest race she has contested in some time and on form alone, she has to be respected as a leading chance.

1 Insider Trader (Bet Now: $13.00) can sneak a first four spot at odds. He ran over 2400m on the Kenso track last start and didn’t quite measure up, and perhaps the distance saw him out too, when down the track behind Savvy Valentino. Much better suited at this level and can run an improved race.

I think $5/thereabouts is a fair enough price for 2 Auzstar (Bet Now: $5.00), and acceptable IMO. On debut for John Sargent and he has looked strong in a couple of trials to get ready for start one. Latest trial came over 1045m at Randwick when leading throughout and going about his business nicely. He can stalk the fav and be strong at the end.

10 Six Again (Bet Now: $1.95) looks the most obvious. Sharp looking filly on debut for David Pfieffer and it’s clear from her trials that she is a jump/run type that will be in front and rolling. Done everything right in her trials to get ready, draws well, will be out of trouble and it’ll be up to those behind to beat her.

7 Eye See Things (Bet Now: $9.50) is a daughter of Star Witness that resumes for John Thompson. Hasn’t raced since August 20 at this track/distance when well supported but failed to fire and was disappointing behind Stellar Pauline. Showed enough though in the last prep to suggest a maiden win is within reach. Whether it’s here I’m not sure.

I think this is the race where you can have a throw at the stumps at odds and that is what I’ll be doing with 12 Field Wiri (Bet Now: $9.50), on debut for the Freedman camp. Her two trials this prep to get ready for start one haven’t been flash as in the flashing light has been on, but she has moved well with something to offer. At $15+, I can have something small on her.

4 Gleneagles (Bet Now: $2.50) has the race day form and it’s strong enough to give this a shake. Ran second on debut in the Wyong Magic Millions behind She’s All Class before going to Eagle Farm and bumping into Queen Of Wizardry. Thought his Rosehill trial was a nice piece of work and should land in a plum spot from the draw.

14 Zalini (Bet Now: $12.00) can add value to multiples at a big price. She has had one trial this prep for Kevin Moses to get ready for start one. That came at Rosehill where she was back off the speed and though pushed out, did respond and was pretty good I thought. Does no work from the draw and a win wouldn’t totally shock.

2YO’s against older horses in a maiden is a goldmine so going with that and on top is 7 Maurice’s Medad (Bet Now: $1.55) for Bjorn Baker. Attempted to lead throughout on the Kenso track last time and looked home for the most part, but was nabbed late by Coastwatch. The depth here is nowhere near as strong, should land in front and prove hard to beat.

8 Toostar (Bet Now: $2.80) looks to have returned well. Joe Pride trained filly that resumed on the Kenso track. Got back in the run and was never really a winning threat, but liked the way she finished her race off behind a nice type in Waihaha Falls. Fitter and up in trip from a good draw, she’s likeable.

1 Kahuka (Bet Now: $8.50) is a son of Lord Kanaloa for Chris Waller that is on debut. He looks like he will appreciate further ground hence why he debuts over 1400m. Trials leading in have been sound enough and I’ve noticed with these Yoshida runners, they either come out and be very good, are they’re the opposite – they’re no good.

3 Budhwar (Bet Now: $3.90) will need luck from the gate but I think he is the best horse in the race. He was outstanding in defeat in the Provincial Qualifier at Gosford behind Great News after sitting wide no cover on speed. If he gets luck in the run from the gate, he’ll take a power of beating here.

7 Sophomore (Bet Now: $5.00) is a daughter of So You Think for John O’Shea that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since November 27 over 1550m at Canterbury where she bled, so a total forgive behind Bob’s Your Uncle. Capable mare when right and her two trials to get ready haven’t been too bad.

12 Blazing Mac (Bet Now: $7.50) can be an improver here at odds. Thought she was good late fresh at Goulburn before going to Canberra, where the track was very shifty and some horses just didn’t handle it. She was one of them. Freshened up with a tick over trial and off the resumption, she’s a knockout chance.

A couple of Queensland Oaks/Derby aspirants potentially kick off their prep here. I’m really keen to see 2 Fifteen Aria (Bet Now: $3.70) resume for Chris Waller. Could be heading to Queensland, but her form will need to warrant a trip up. Had a two run Summer prep to start her career, winning on debut at Warwick Farm before doing plenty wrong at Randwick and was spelled soon after. Trials have been strong and she does have quality.

1 Yardstick (Bet Now: $1.60) should land in front and take beating for the WaterBott camp. Attempted to lead throughout over 1400m here last time out and looked home when booting clear, but couldn’t quite finish it off and was nabbed late by Eleusa. Think he gets a soft lead and will look the winner for a long way.

5 Savagery (Bet Now: $23.00) might need the run, but he does look to have a touch of quality about him as well. Resumes with eyes towards the Queensland Derby I dare say so whatever he does here, he will improve on, the trials suggest as much. But his three runs to start the career in Victoria were good in solid races.

I dare say there will be blacktype aspirations for 7 Glowing Red (Bet Now: $3.50), resuming for Kris Lees. Being out of Hell It’s Hot, that makes her a half sister to former star mare In Her Time, so she’s bred to be a good one and showed quality in her first prep, winning one of two. Has trialled well leading and Avdulla remains on.

The best version of 2 Fresh (Bet Now: $7.50) would give this a shake. Just no idea where she is at. Resumed several weeks ago at the Valley where she was in a plum spot behind the speed and there to pounce, but didn’t fire under pressure, which has been the case since her 2YO days. One for multiples because she does have talent.

10 Unblushing (Bet Now: $15.00) is an interesting runner. James Cummings trained mare that had a freshen up prior to racing here last time out. Went very keen in the run and left herself with nothing left for the straight, so I think you have to be forgiving of that run. Can be dangerous if she relaxes.

LONG SHOT: Race Three Number 12 Field Wiri
