4/6/2016 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville

Morphettville Parks will back up again this Saturday with another handy eight race card, with the depth looking pretty good. The weather is overcast, the track is soft (6) and the rail is out three metres for the entire circuit.

Race One (12:28) : Adelaide Galvanising Handicap (82) 2400m:

Back Me: 6 Spanish Halo (Bet Now: $4.80) is on the back up after racing last Saturday here over 1950m when working home strongly to run third to What’s In A Name. Back up to 2400m is ideal, stubby remains on and he draws a lovely gate.
Big Danger: 1 Rich River (Bet Now: $1.85) was a short priced elect last time out in the Mount Gambier Cup and on the turn it looked like the race was over as he loomed to win, but he couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for third to Survived. Loves racing on the Parks track and the 22 day freshen up will really suit this Darren Weir trained runner.
Roughie: 4 Gallatin (Bet Now: $21.00) comes through the 2100m race at Gawler won by Spanish Halo where he closed off alright late in the race to run fourth. I think he can turn the tables on that horse here and stable is going very well at the moment.

Race Two (13:03) : Holdfast Insurance Handicap (70) 1000m:

Back Me: 5 Shacked Up (Bet Now: $5.00) is the most interesting runner on the program. Former Gerald Ryan galloper now with Philip Stokes and he looks ready to go off the back of a very slick trial win at Balaklava. Big market watch.
Big Danger: 2 Vickis Boy (Bet Now: $4.40) resumed over this distance on the course proper three weeks back and was a touch flat behind Heartz Ablaze. He is much better than that, and now back on the Parks track, which he loves, he can sharply improve.
Roughie: 6 Mysticano (Bet Now: $13.00) was well backed at odds on debut at Murray Bridge and that support was justified with a dominant win. He only has to show natural improvement off that here to be very competitive.

Race Three (13:37) : Hughes Chauffeured Limousines Handicap (70) 1400m:

Back Me: 3 Shacarde (Bet Now: $2.80) comes through the House Of Wax race here a fortnight ago where she sat on speed and felt the pinch late when finishing 12th, beaten 3.5L. I think the Parks track will suit her and this isn’t a strong race at all if she finds her best form.
Big Danger: 9 Monopole (Bet Now: $5.50) is a talented type that resumes for Tony McEvoy. She hasn’t raced since Oaks Day at Flemington when finishing down the track behind the well performed mare Yellen. Recent Balaklava trial was encouraging, she runs well fresh and there is a touch of class and quality about her.
Roughie: 4 Where’s Tim (Bet Now: $18.00) resumed at Murray Bridge a tick over two weeks ago and stuck on well when third to The Other Guy, beaten three lengths. He has a really good second up record and though he has done nothing in four runs on the  Parks track, I think he can figure in the finish.

Race Four (14:16) : Schweppes Handicap 1300m:

Back Me: 3 Fast ‘N’ Rolling (Bet Now: $6.50) was wide no cover on debut at Cranbourne yet still attacked the line to run a very good second. This race doesn’t look much harder, so he doesn’t have to show much improvement to win here IMO.
Big Danger: 5 Waging War (Bet Now: $9.00) produced an excellent debut in that Mulder race at Gawler, closing off strongly late to run a close up second. With natural improvement, and a rise in trip, he is a massive threat.
Roughie: 13 Tahnee Tiara (Bet Now: $10.00) was a short priced elect last start at Gawler but she failed to let down on the wet track behind Mulder. She is much better than that, and if she gets firmer footing here, she is a live chance.

Race Five (14:56) : Projection Graphics Handicap (75) 1250m:

Roughie: 5 House Of Wax (Bet Now: $4.20) started bolters odds a fortnight back on the course proper and aided by a lovely steer from Joe Bowditch, the galloper was too good. Loves racing on the Parks track and should get every chance from the gate.
Big Danger: 4 Usain Dane (Bet Now: $4.20) was an impressive first up winner over 1000m here before running on late to run fourth to Shaf on the course proper three weeks back. Draws well, claim for Finnegan helps and being third up, he should be ready to show his best.
Roughie: 10 Best Fortune (Bet Now: $15.00) drops in grade after contesting a lead up to the Oaks when finishing down the track behind Silent Sedition. Talent is there, down in the weights, and I think she can sprint well here on the fresh side, plus there has been support for her.

Race Six (15:36) : UBET Handicap (90) 1550m:

Back Me: 5 Rocket Commander (Bet Now: $2.30) looks the way to go. This galloper is coming off a close up third to Tonopah in the R A Lee Stakes, beaten less than a length. Big drop in grade here and only has to overcome the gate to look the winner.
Big Danger: 9 Tenere (Bet Now: $6.50) has been given a month freshen up since running a close up fourth to Tonopah over the mile on the course proper. Form out of that race has really held up nicely with Tonopah winning again and runner up Zebrinz running well in the race The New Boy ran second in. Has upside and should prove a worthy threat.
Roughie: 10 Arctic Song (Bet Now: $10.00) dropped to the midweeks at Sale last Wednesday where he sat on speed and kicked on strongly but was grabbed late by the horse who tracked him up the entire trip, Oxbow. Right down in the weights now and the trip away could sharpen him up.

Race Seven (16:16) : Campolina Stud Handicap (90) 1000m:

Back Me: 6 Cashed (Bet Now: $13.00) drops big time in grade after running in the Goodwood a fortnight back where he finished out the back behind Black Heart Bart. Only rises 2kg in weight and drops massively in depth, and he has a good record on the track, so he looks the one to beat IMO.
Big Danger: 12 Classy Jack (Bet Now: $14.00) ran over 1100m on the course proper three weeks back where he sat wide no cover throughout yet looked to bolt up to them on the turn but he tired late to finish down the track behind Shaf. He doesn’t mind racing here on the Parks track and being third up, he should just about be ready to show his best.
Roughie: 7 Double Pockets (Bet Now: $41.00) could be one to include at odds. He resumed over 1200m on the course proper six weeks back and never got into the race behind Casino Wizard, who won last Saturday. He loves racing on the Parks track and can sharply improve.

Race Eight (16:56) : MAC Drink Driving? GROW UP Handicap (64) 1250m:

Back Me: 12 Golden Century (Bet Now: $11.00) was kept very safe in the market when resuming in a Gawler maiden on May 15 and after a lovely steer from Josh Cartwright, the mare was far too good for her rivals. Has always promised to be a city class horse and she finds a very winnable race, plus she has enormous upside.
Big Danger: 4 Deanna Jean (Bet Now: $4.80) wasn’t wanted in betting when racing over this track/distance a tick under three weeks back but she showed great speed early on to lead and then kick on strongly in the run home to win comfortably. Harder here, but if similar tactics are adopted here, she can take some catching at decent odds.
Roughie: 13 Our Prospect (Bet Now: $13.00) ran last start at Strathalbyn, on the soft track where he sat on speed from the wide gate and proved a touch too good. Has an okay record on the Parks track without winning, but his run prior behind Deanna Jean in that race above was very good.
