4/9/2026 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Wyong, Wyong Cup day

Eight races will be run and won at Wyong on Friday for Wyong Cup Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

9 Spud Gun (Bet Now: $5.00) on top in the opener but not really a race I want to get involved in. She ran second at Hawkesbury last time, sitting off speed and kept chasing in a pretty good effort in defeat. She’s found positive form and can certainly hold it.

4 Riga (Bet Now: $2.80) is first up here for Nacim Dilmi and Cup Day on the home track, you would assume he’s prepped right up to run well. Form last prep reads nicely for a race like this and has trialled up super for the return.

2 Classic Two (Bet Now: $8.50) had had a few chances to break the maiden tag but he is racing pretty well at present. He ran second over this track/distance last start, trying hard but clearly had no answers for Anthropoid. No horse of that quality here, think he represents value.

8 Too Expensive (Bet Now: $8.00) each way for me. Well bred gelding that debuts for Kris Lees off the back of encouraging trial work. Blinkers for the debut signals intent and maps to stalk the speed, getting last look provided he gets clear air.

1 Written Doll (Bet Now: $2.25) looks the leader and from there, will take beating. He ran third at Hawkesbury last time, seemingly having his chance but battled away really well in defeat. Maps to find the top and will be hard to get past.

15 Lady Talea (Bet Now: $19.00) steps up to 1200m after racing over 1000m at Kembla Grange when on speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch late. Good racing style…doubt she wins but she can pinch first four.

I think 4 Portico (Bet Now: $2.70) is here to play. Michael Freedman trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since June 13 when struggling on the bog in the Oxlade at Eagle Farm. Given a good break and his recent Warwick Farm trial was very good. He’ll take beating.

7 Vain Temptress (Bet Now: $4.60) comes here off the back of a sharp debut win at Hawkesbury where she gave her rivals a start and a beating in an impressive performance. Not sure how she’ll handle getting around Wyong but she has an engine under the hood.

9 Parthenon (Bet Now: $11.00) has done little wrong in two career starts. Kylie Gavenlock trained gelding that toughed it out best to win on debut at Gosford before a gutsy effort at Hawkesbury after settling near the speed. Good racing style, he should be around the mark.

1 Oakfield Alaska (Bet Now: $5.00) has to carry the weight but there is a reason for that. He is a very nice horse that resumes for Scott Singleton. He went 3/3 when last in work and looked sharp in recent trial win. Maps to get a sweet sit in transit and be effective late.

2 Copacabana (Bet Now: $3.50) is a Team Hawkes trained gelding that resumes. His last run came on Feb 27 at Canterbury when on speed and tiring late behind Cellarmaster. Trial work has been solid enough and can sprint well fresh.

6 Valentiago (Bet Now: $27.00) is first up for Peter Snowden and does command some level of respect. He ended last prep on a high with a win at Hawkesbury over 1800m in a Class 1/Maiden. Better suited over further but should be strong late.

4 Grinzinger Pod (Bet Now: $4.40) each way for me. This mare has done little wrong this time in, trying hard from near the speed but had no answers late for Better Late, who spanked them from the front and ran time. Maps to get a sweet sit in transit and be effective late.

7 Olivia Twist (Bet Now: $3.70) was kept safe in betting when racing at the midweeks at Warwick Farm but after settling near the front, she didn’t fire and was plain late in the piece behind Heroic Deed. If she brings her best, she can take this out.

9 Nova Centauri (Bet Now: $11.00) steps up to 1200m after a first up win at Scone over 1000m, sitting off speed before coming with a well timed run to finish best and get the job done. Good test here but think she’ll run very well.

3 Bella Montagna (Bet Now: $4.80) is a GaiBott trained mare that resumes, I dare say with eyes on The Metropolitan. She last raced in the Brisbane Cup when struggling on the bog behind Alalcance. She is a mare who can sprint well fresh and her trial work has been encouraging.

2 Matusalem (Bet Now: $2.50) steps up to 2100m after racing over 2000m in the Premier’s Cup where he kept finding the line from off speed when third to Boniface. Extra 100m should be fine, does no work from the draw and gets J Mac.

6 Anythink Goes (Bet Now: $12.00) ran second in the Prelude. He got off speed and seemingly had his chance but battled away really well in defeat behind Captain Fenkel. Doubt he wins but he can run first four at a price.

6 Just Glamourous (Bet Now: $5.50) takes beating for Joe Pride after taking out the Prelude where she was coming back to 1200m but was strong to the line in winning and smashed the clock. Looks to either lead or stalk the speed…either way, I think she’ll run very well.

1 Oh Diamond Lil (Bet Now: $5.50) is a class mare that resumes for David Pfieffer. She hasn’t raced since June 6 when a solid fourth over the mile at Eagle Farm. Looks to have trialled well, lands on speed and takes beating.

2 Snitzel Dancer (Bet Now: $19.00) is in the mix for Brad Widdup. She is first up, having not raced since May 2 when far from disgraced in the QLD Guineas. Given a good break and will be strong late. Just depends what start she concedes.

7 Inception (Bet Now: $10.00) each way for me in the get out. He comes back to the mile after racing over 1800m at Hawkesbury, attempting to lead throughout and tried hard but just felt the pinch late. Like him back in trip, good racing style, think he’ll run a beauty.

6 Rush Attack (Bet Now: $3.60) is knocking on the door. He ran over this trip at Gosford last time out, sitting on speed and had his chance when third but IMO, I think he’s a much better horse with a bunny to chase. If that eventuates here, he can bounce back.

2 Northern Eyes (Bet Now: $8.00) is flying I feel for Kim Waugh. Somewhat luckless in the Midway last time at Rosehill but I liked the way he kept chasing in defeat. Hard fit and rising in trip, I say he’s dangerous.

NEXT BEST: Race Six Number 3 Bella Montagna

LONG SHOT: Race Two Number 8 Too Expensive
