Belmont will play host to a nine race card on Saturday where it is Raconteur Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out a metre for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:59) Free Entry To Belmont (Bm78+) 2200m
1 Prince Turbo (Bet Now: $1.75) is four weeks between runs since scoring a big win in the Eurythmic Stakes. Big win in the sense that he was second up after a long break and he was dominant on the line. You’d like to think there is room for improvement and he has a bit on these re class.
2 Double Digit (Bet Now: $3.80) is an improver. On the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over the mile here when wide no cover for the trip and tired late behind Bombay Style. Like him up in trip…up in trip off that sort of run? Not sure, but the overall lack of depth is thin.
4 Dudemanbro (Bet Now: $19.00) would love this race to be turned into a proper staying contest because he is a proper stayer in the sense that he has no turn of foot and will just stay all day. Far from disgraced behind Prince Turbo in that race mentioned abvoe. Doubt he wins, but can pinch a first four spot.
Race 2. (14:34) Tabtouch-Wspeed Platinum-Rs0ly 1600m
Getting up to the mile, I think it’s D-Day for 7 Lord Lonsdale (Bet Now: $5.50). He does tend to like his races spaced so three weeks between runs is fine IMO. He ran over 1400m here three weeks ago and got a fair way back in the run. Never really a threat but he produced a solid finale, racing like he wants further, which he gets, and gee the race is thin. He’ll struggle to win in town if he can’t put this field away.
3 Power Of St George (Bet Now: $4.40) has a liking for Belmont and I think he’s racing in solid form. He ran in the Provincial Final a fortnight back where he got a mile out of his ground but warmed to the task nicely late behind Speed Dream. Lone run at the track/distance saw her win so he commands some level of respect.
Up to the mile I find interesting with 9 Wunderkind (Bet Now: $26.00) but a soft gate and down in the weights somewhat offset that query. Two back at Ascot, it looked like she was looking for the padock after getting every chance. Then raced here three weeks back and was okay in defeat behind Snippy Miss. One for wider multiples.
Race 3. (15:09) Schweppes Plate 1000m
1 Revitup (Bet Now: $1.90) picks herself. Gee she’s been well placed by the Luciani camp right throughout her career. They could have easily been tempted to head towards a Karrakatta but they realised she’s a 1000m horse, keep her at 1000m races and she’ll do the rest. She’s won four of her five runs, first up winning impressively here two weeks ago. Happy to be in her corner.
2 Sky Duke (Bet Now: $3.10) is the x factor. Neville Parnham trained juvenile that was a dominant winner on debut over 1200m here when sitting on speed and drawing clear late to win impressively. I reckon his best chance of winning is putting the pressure on Revitup and making it a proper 1000m contest. If he lets Revitup get control, then she wins and wins well.
3 Gold Keeper (Bet Now: $10.00) is a fascinating runner. He returns as a gelding for David Harrison, having not raced since his debut back on New Years Day when far from disgraced in defeat behind Sheeza Belter, who we know is a very classy juvenile. Resumes without a trial, but watch the market.
Race 4. (15:45) Seacorp (Rs1mw) 1000m
6 Ultimate Command (Bet Now: $3.50) looks to be one of these younger horses that were very precocious and that is as good as they can go. To be fair, she doesn’t need to be anything special to win this IMO because it’s a pretty low race. Resumes for Neville Parnham and she is a proper 1000m specialist. She doesn’t want further. Trialled well leading in and gets Chris Parnham.
2 Go Forward (Bet Now: $3.20) can be an improver for the Gangemi camp. Market didn’t want a bar of him fresh here and he ran up to the lack of support, failing to fire a shot in a plain return behind Nowhiteflag. He’s a two time second up winner who drops big time in depth, so I am expecting improvement.
5 Athlone Castle (Bet Now: $18.00) does his best racing at the Provincials, mainly Albany, but given there is no meat to this race, I don’t think it’s bad placement by connections. He got a fair way back at Albany last time out and was good late when a close up fourth. If they overdo it in front, he’ll be strong at the end.
Race 5. (16:24) Tabtouch-Better Your Bet-Bm62+ 1000m
7 Charming Belle (Bet Now: $5.00) on top in a pretty solid race for the three year olds. Simon Miller trained filly that won with a fair amount of quality I felt when resuming over 1200m here, producing some of the better late splits of the meeting in doing so. Back to 1000m is a query, but she has change up speed and will be strong late.
Beware the unbeaten horse so I am respecting 6 Colossal (Bet Now: $3.50). 2/2 to start his career, both wins coming over 1200m, the latest being at the midweeks here when surging hard late between runners. Back to 1000m I find interesting but Blinkers go on, hopefully to sharpen him up.
2 He’s Gold (Bet Now: $21.00) returns to his own age so he can run an improved race. Last few runs have come against older horses and he hasn’t really fired a shot, but last time he was against his own age, he ran second to Above The Peg, so that reads quite well for this, and he gets in well after the claim.
Race 6. (17:00) Amelia Park (Bm66+) 1600m
13 Kolchino (Bet Now: $13.00) is worth an each way speck in a competitive race. On the seven day back up after racing last Saturday at this track/distance when a close up fourth to Shake The Bloom, seemingly getting every chance but was far from disgraced in defeat. Maps to get an ideal run in transit and with good weight relief, he’ll do me each way.
Staying at the mile is the knock with 5 Reliable Star (Bet Now: $8.50) but he is a talented horse for Adam Durrant. Resumed two weeks ago at this track/distance and gee he should have gone close to winning. Just had no luck in the straight when seemingly having plenty to offer. With clear air this time around, she can threaten.
4 Pretty Friar (Bet Now: $26.00) ran in the same race that Reliable Star contested mentioned above. He got back in the field and worked to the line pretty well without threatening when fourth to Kaymay. If the inside gate is used to advantage, I think she can be dangerous at odds.
Race 7. (17:35) Mrs Mac's (Bm72+) 1400m
9 Otheroneson (Bet Now: $1.90) is progressive, heading in the right direction and I think he can win again. Hasn’t raced since April 30 when a strong winner over the mile at Ascot, producing sharp change up speed to win and win well. Fresh legs and back to 1400m no issue but he has the turn of foot to explode and spank them.
6 Warm N Fuzzy (Bet Now: $12.00) is a query at 1400m but he’ll jump on the bunny and is down in the weights. Loved the ticker he showed to win over 1200m two weeks ago where he was there to be run down but he found plenty under pressure to fend them off. If he gets a cheap lead, he’ll give a bold sight.
3 Mr Delegator (Bet Now: $26.00) is a big improver. Resumed three weeks back here and gee he was on the plain side behnd Devoted. I will say he normally needs a run under the belt before firing second up. If he runs up to anywhere near his best, he’s capable of being in the finish.
Race 8. (18:10) Raconteur Stakes 1400m
1 Rokanori (Bet Now: $3.80) could well dominate these WA feature 3YO races over the next few weeks. Freshened up after the Melvista then went to 1200m here two weeks ago and produced an electric finale from off the speed to win impressively. Fitter, up to 1400m…good luck beating him I’d suggest.
5 Devoted (Bet Now: $3.80) is a progressive animal for Michael Grantham that had his first run for the stable over this track/distance when a short priced elect and he gave nothing else a look in, producing a commanding performance in bolting up. Showed during the Summer Carnival he has class, and has enormous upside.
Simon Miller has several accepted here and the fact Pat Carbery is riding 2 Above The Peg (Bet Now: $11.00) suggests that he is the #1 seed for the stable. Last couple of wins have come against the older horses and each time he has finished his race off with purpose to win and win well. Good test here, but he’ll measure up.
Race 9. (18:48) Crown Towers (Bm66+) 1200m
4 Secret Plan (Bet Now: $5.50) gets the nod in what looks a solid 66+. Three weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning factor, loved the way he closed off behind Mercanto, clocking fast late splits. Better for the run, if he can get a decent drag into the race, I don’t think they can hold him out.
5 Flying Missile (Bet Now: $6.50) is a talented filly for Neville Parnham that resumes. 1200m is a query with her I thought, but 1200m first up tells me she’s ready to go, plus gate one and the 3kg claim…bit going in her corner and I thought her recent trial win here was a good piece of work.
1 All Day Session (Bet Now: $5.50) will love getting back to this sort of level. Ran over this track/distance two weeks back and was far from disgraced in a hot race I thought won by quality three year old Rokanori. Back to this sort of level, and Rawiller sticking, he’s a winning threat for sure.
