This isn’t a deep staying contest to my eye so with that in mind, I am going with 14 Girls Girls Girls (Bet Now: $5.50), who has less convictions than most and does come here as a last start winner. That came in a Horsham maiden over 2100m where she looked a moral on paper and duly saluted to win and win well. Her confidence is up and 2400m should be no issue.

1 Actaeon (Bet Now: $3.10) comes through the Deakin race from two weeks ago at Pakenham where he got a fair way out of his ground and although he was never a winning threat, he found the line well enough in defeat. The rise in trip looks fine and strikes a winnable race.

5 Eco Warrior (Bet Now: $10.00) comes back to 2400m after racing over 3000m at The Valley last time out. He just got too far out of his ground and while he was never a winning threat, he found the line and was pretty good in defeat I thought behind Glens Top Cat. Back in trip no issue and this isn’t a deep contest.

1 Blazing Rebel (Bet Now: $5.00) on top. He ran over 1800m at Caulfield Heath last start where he got off speed and kept chasing when second to impressive winner Bon Mistress. This race looks on the weaker side and he only has to hold his form to be around the mark.

2 Samurai (Bet Now: $3.10) is racing really well at the moment for Team Freedman. He comes to this off the back of a win at Seymour where he gave them a start and a beating, and was impressive the way he put them away late in the piece. Tricky draw, but hard to knock the way he’s racing.

3 Deel Blaster (Bet Now: $23.00) is capable with his best. He ran on speed at Caulfield Heath last time out and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through behind Kings Valley. Cheap run on speed, he is a knockout chance.

4 Call Him Iggy (Bet Now: $6.00) for me. Matty Smerdon trained gelding that gave them a start and a beating to win fresh at Seymour, letting down with good change up speed late to win and return nicely. More depth here and will concede a start but should be strong at the end.

12 Gallant Prince (Bet Now: $3.90) is finding it hard to win but that said, he is racing in pretty good form at present for Clayton Douglas. He ran at Caulfield Heath last time out when off the speed and chased but just couldn’t quite get there when third to Ruminate. Back to 1400m and with the claim, he rates highly.

1 Writey O’Pal (Bet Now: $8.50) is an improver at odds for Mick Huglin. He resumed over 1200m at Caulfield Heath where he got back off the speed and was chasing, hit kept on and was a pass mark in defeat behind Thailess. Better set up here, he’s an improver.

9 Cherish Me (Bet Now: $4.60) on top. Well bred Brazen Beau filly for Ciaron Maher that is on debut. She jumped out last week at Cranbourne and won, running decent enough time and seemingly did it with something up the locker, so keen to see how she goes.

10 Cosmic Shower (Bet Now: $7.00) is a well bred filly that is on debut for Phillip Stokes, a stable that won this race last year and are flying with their juveniles at present. She has had a couple of jumpouts in readiness for the first start and with this stable and their juveniles, watch the market and see what it does.

4 Night Flash (Bet Now: $23.00) looks an improver for Team Hayes. He debuted at Geelong when off the speed and although well held when third, he stayed on and was pretty good in defeat. Had jumped out well prior to that so I say don’t dismiss him.

2 Philosopher (Bet Now: $3.30) looks the leader and I think from the front, dry deck at Geelong, rail true, that is going to be an ideal spot. He was game in defeat on Pakenham Cup Day two weeks ago but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Title Fighter. Good racing style and he looks so well in after the claim.

1 Bellinger (Bet Now: $4.50) is flying for Team Hayes and commands respect. He is four weeks between runs since a win at Morphettville Parks, making it two on the bounce. He appreciated a strong tempo and finished best to score. Harder here, but hard to knock the way he’s racing.

6 Big Watch (Bet Now: $14.00) should appreciate a rise in trip and added fitness after resuming over 1000m at Caulfield Heath where he looked in need of the run and that’s how it panned out behind Grand Larceny. Better for the run under the belt, he is good enough to threaten.

2 Robrick (Bet Now: $4.40) has the runs on the board to spank these…does he have that winning feeling and confidence? He comes through The Supernova at Pakenham where he seemingly had every chance from off the speed but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Back miles in grade/depth, he brings the A1 form…surely this is his race?

10 Haraldus (Bet Now: $3.00) is eligible for much easier but he is a horse heading in the right direction for Team Freedman. 2/2 this time in, winning at Caulfield Heath fresh before going to Bendigo where he was strong from on speed and found under pressure to win. Good test here, but confident he measures up.

4 Umgawa…(Bet Now: $7.00) is there signs of life? He comes through the Gold Bullion where he got back off the speed and while he was never a winning threat, he kept finding the line and was quite good in defeat I thought behind Modown. Maps to use the inside gate to advantage and can win for sure.

1 Igotcha (Bet Now: $3.20) comes back to 1400m for Ciaron Maher after racing over 1500m at Caulfield Heath last time when back in the run and although held up at times, she seemingly had her chance I thought in defeat behind Sassy Boom. Back in trip, can be ridden with more intent, she rates highly.

7 Down Low (Bet Now: $4.60) hasn’t done much wrong this time in for Price/Kent. She has placed her past two, the latest at Sale when wide no cover for the trip but she stayed on and was quite good in defeat behind Eugenius. Maps to get a much better run in transit, she can win.

6 Look Sharpish (Bet Now: $126.00) is a Corstens/Larkin trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since Aug 21 at Sandown when racing over 2100m and couldn’t really get involved when down the track behind Commando Drift. Will spot them a start but should be strong late and is a first four contender.

3 Dashing (Bet Now: $3.20) looks the leader and with front end control, he’ll be hard to get past. He was ridden with a sit in the Lord Stakes on Boxing Day at Caulfield Heath and couldn’t quite see it through, tiring late to finish fourth to Regal Vow. More positive ride, he’ll be extremely hard to get past.

2 Riot And Rose (Bet Now: $4.40) has to be given another look for Moody/Coleman. He comes through the Lord Stakes where he got back in the run and seemed to have his chance but was a bit on the plain side late in the piece behind Regal Vow. Prior efforts were strong so I think he has to be given another look.

4 Night Endeavour (Bet Now: $7.50) should appreciate a rise in trip. Aussie debut came over 1500m at Caulfield Heath where he got back in the run and made up decent headway without threatening behind Marble Arch. Better for the run under the belt and maps to do no work.

8 She’s Bulletproof (Bet Now: $2.45) looks ready to rock and roll for Charlotte Littlefield and I could mark her under $3. She hasn’t raced since Nov 16 at Caulfield when chasing with purpose from off the speed when second to the very talented mare Niance. Tick over jumpout was sharp, lands in a plum spot…really keen on her prospects.

7 Pharari (Bet Now: $6.00) is four weeks between runs for Ciaron Maher since racing in the Stockade on Ballarat Cup Day where she seemed to get a decent enough run in transit and was there to put the race away but just found one better in Miss Roumbini. Tricky draw, but will press forward and be hard to get past.

1 She Dances (Bet Now: $15.00) has class on her side and class will carry her a long way. She comes through the Christmas Stakes on Boxing Day at Caulfield where she got back to near last in the run and was good late without threatening Ashford Street. Hard fit and back to Mares grade, she appeals.

6 Berzerka (Bet Now: $17.00) jumps sharply in grade but she looks a filly with good promise. She resumed in a maiden at Caulfield Heath where she looked a good thing on paper and didn’t let her supporters down with a commanding performance. Good upside to come and does have a touch of quality about her.

1 Band Of Brothers (Bet Now: $6.50) is a ripper that resumes for Dom Sutton after formerly being with Matty Ellerton. He hasn’t raced since the early part of the Spring when far from disgraced in defeat in the McNeil behind Growing Empire, which is A1 form. His jumpout work has been pretty good and does have class.

13 Signor Bill (Bet Now: $31.00) is a son of Saxon Warrior that resumes for Team Payne. He had a busy 2YO season but did show promise, ending the campaign with a placing at Caulfield behind the Stakes performed Snack Bar, which clearly reads well for this. Trialled up well for the return so watch the market.
