Nine races will be run and won on the Parks track at Morphettville this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:58) Croser (Rs0mw) 1300m
6 Fancify (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a daughter of Niagara for Michael Hickmott that resumes. This girl is first up after a three run prep during the Winter to start her career where she showed good promise. Trialled well last week at Strathalbyn and the stable has been flying in recent weeks with their progressive types so she is a huge market watch.
1 Whiskey Hangover (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an interesting runner. Formerly with Team Hayes, he now finds himself with Jeff Searle. Last run for Team Hayes came on September 1 when a strong winner at Seymour, finishing best in a driving go. I think watch the market and see what it does, but on race form, he can win.
3 Carbone (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a knockout chance for Peter Moody. He ran three weeks back over 1300m here when back near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up headway and was pretty good late in the piece to run third to Prince Jofra. Not sure I could back him to win, but is a must for exotics.
Race 2. (13:33) Tab Mdn Plate 1300m
9 Episodic (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has been crying out for more ground and she gets it here. She’s been good in two runs for Clarken/O’Shea, both on the course proper here over short course trips where each time she has got back and found the line strongly. Think the rise to 1300m is ideal and she strikes a very winnable maiden IMO. Keen on her prospects.
8 Utilitarian (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should appreciate a rise in trip. Michael Hickmott trained son of Reward For Effort that debuted over 1100m a fortnight back on the course proper here where he got back to near last in the run and did make up solid ground without threatening behind Aztec Dancer. Off that, an extra 200m is ideal and if he can settle closer in the run, he’ll be dangerous.
4 Free Vino (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness for Richards/Moyle. He was dragged back from the wide gate at Balaklava last time and while he was never a threat, he worked to the line pretty well I thought. Has a gate to settle much closer in the run and still be effective at the end.
Race 3. (14:08) Spring Carnival At Morph. (C2) 1000m
2 Jaazeb (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is racing well and certainly take this out. Richards/Moyle trained gelding that ran a few weeks ago here where he was well backed. Landed on speed and was there to win the race but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Killiako. Racing well without winning but this race isn’t overly strong so with that in mind, I think he has to be respected.
3 Anjopin (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Team Jaensch trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since December 17 at Gawler when bucking soon after jumping and took no competitive part, so forgive and forget the run. Good fresh horse who has trialled well enough to my eye and his best is clearly good enough to take this out.
9 Fields Of Athenry (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is in with a shout for sure. David Jolly trained mare that is several weeks between runs since racing over 900m at Gawler where she gave them a start and was run off her legs but picked up and was pretty good late in the piece behind Tickety Boom. Like her back up in trip and is a proven track/distance performer.
Race 4. (14:43) Thomas Farms (Bm66) 1550m
7 Sentimental Flame (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks a filly with decent talent and up to 1550m, she appeals. She resumed on Balaklava Cup Day where she was held up for a few strides and took a while to wind into her work but she balanced up and charged late, just missing out on picking up Derby Downs. Good upside to come, she appeals.
1 Air Assault (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks like he is in for a good prep and I think a big tick is getting to a trip like this. Both runs this time in have come over 1200m, the latest being two weeks ago behind Sixteen Reasons where they rode with intent to land near the front and stuck to the task well enough. Think with a more patient, he’ll be more effective.
4 Derby Downs (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will land near the front and prove hard to run down. Magro/Bush trained three year old that won the race mentioned above on Balaklava Cup Day. He led throughout and was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. 1550m, I think, will be okay, and with the racing pattern, he’ll give himself every chance.
Race 5. (15:18) Twilight Racing At Morph. (64) 1550m
8 Dual Fuel (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a mare I have plenty of time for and confident she will give this an almighty shake. Peter Hardacre trained mare that resumed last Wednesday at Strathalbyn where she got back and wide under a poor steer IMO from Maggie Collett and just left the mare with too much to do. She actually did a remarkable job to miss out on the win. If she gets a half decent steer this time around and is within range, she’ll take a power of beating.
7 Soames (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has turned the corner I feel. He won the maiden three back and in two subsequent runs, he has been more than sound, the latest coming a fortnight back here when a closing fourth to Set To Prophet. If he can settle closer in the run or at least be within range on the turn, he can take this out.
1 Angaston (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Jon O’Connor after racing last Saturday at this track/distance where he got back in the run and tried to get involved but was never really a factor behind Thirsty Guest. He has won on the back up before and strikes a winnable race if he brings his best, so I think he’s a market watch.
Race 6. (15:58) Skycity (Bm70) 1400m
8 Arugamama (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be at peak fitness. Andrew Gluyas trained mare that has been solid in two runs back from a spell, the latest over 1200m two weeks back on the course proper here when back, wide with cover, and worked home well enough without threatening behind Sixteen Reasons. Crying out for more ground, which she gets here, and has more upside than most.
6 Tapinforpar (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks to be in for a good prep and is hard to beat here. Richards/Moyle trained gelding that resumed a fortnight back over 1200m where he got a fair way back in the run and while he was never a threat, he did make up ground and the run was a definite pass mark behind Sixteen Reasons. Much better set up this time around and the depth isn’t overly deep.
9 Caliburn (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a son of Camelot that resumes for Bill Williams. This guy is a 1600m+ horse so he may need the run but he is a horse who can sprint well fresh and has trialled up nicely enough to my eye. Last run was June 17 at Murray Bridge over 1200m when on speed and tiring late behind Pegasi. First up at 1400m signals some level of intent so watch the market.
Race 7. (16:38) Adel. Galvanising Indus.-Bm82 1000m
8 Sweetened (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should prove hard to beat here for Clarken O’Shea. This mare was thrown in the deep end two weeks ago in the Whylie and while she was never a winning threat, I thought she was far from disgraced in defeat behind impressive winner Grey River. Yet to race on the Parks track but she drops a fair bit in depth and should be strong at the end.
4 Taunting (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look. Michael Hickmott trained gelding that I was quite keen on when he resumed in the Whylie at Morphettville after a sizzling trial but he didn’t run up to that at all, tiring late and was a bit on the plain side behind Grey River. Trialled too well to pen off one run so don’t dismiss him in a race like this.
7 Star Hills (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a Bob Richard trained nine year old that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since June 3 at this track/distance when back near last in the run and failing to make up any real impression behind Howl. He is a horse who can sprint well fresh…not sure I could back him to win, but he is one for exotics I can entertain.
Race 8. (17:18) Fleurieu Milk Company (Bm76) 2250m
1 Disagreeable Miss (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a knockout hope. Mick Huxtable trains this mare, who comes through the Montepulciano race from two weeks back on the course proper here where she tried to make a sustained run from around the 700m mark but she couldn’t quite finish it off. That said, she was a definite pass mark behind the Team Jolly runner. Definite winning chance with her best.
2 Does It (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is knocking on the door to win for Team Jolly. Looked like it would come a fortnight back when looming from off the speed but he couldn’t quite finish the job and had to settle for a narrow second to stablemate Montepulciano. Up in trip should be okay and he strikes another winnable race. One of the leading chances.
9 Italian Redwood (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) had a long run of outs and was never really a factor but that all changed last time at Balaklava when giving his rivals a spanking over 2200m. He was unwanted in betting but he was able to lob into a beaut spot behind the speed before angling clear and he made a mess of them. Now he has got that win on the board, he can go on with it.
Race 9. (17:53) The Fotobase Group (Bm62) 1250m
5 Bolted In (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect. Matty Seyers trained three year old that was kept quite safe in betting when resuming a fortnight back where he was ridden with a sit, getting back to near last in the run and made up good ground late in the piece behind Lovely Lookin’. He is a good horse when right and certainly good enough to take out a race like this.
1 Outpost (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) looks really well placed in a race like this. He comes through the Whylie from a fortnight back where he got to near last in the run and while he was never a threat, he made up ground and was good in defeat behind Grey River. That form clearly reads well for this.
7 Disco Tilmorn (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will put herself on speed and look to give her all. She ran two weeks back on the course proper here when attempting to lead throughout and gave a solid kick but couldn’t quite get the job done when second to Our Shining Star. Good racing style for this track, hard to beat.
