The two day Wagga Carnival kicks off this Thursday, headlined by the Wagga Town Plate (1200m). The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:30) 000 Trades 2Yo Showcase Hcp 1000m
2 Lord Elrond (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a good thing here and I will be surprised if he’s not favourite come jump time. He resumes for Tom Charlton and returns to racing as a gelding, looking quite sharp in trial work, the latest a trial win over 1045m. Good grounding, lands on speed, keen on his chances.
1 Better Off Alone (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Bjorn Baker trained juvenile that ran second in the Wellington Boot last start when off speed and worked home strongly late. Bursting to win, commands respect…but does seem on the short side.
7 Eyes Right (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Tim Donnelly trained filly that is on debut. Moved well enough several weeks back in a trial here and the stable does have a good record in this race. Watch betting and see what it does.
Race 2. (13:05) Taber Electrical Super Showcase Mdn 1000m
8 Our Noble Boy (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the way I am going. He resumes as a gelding, his lone run coming at Rosehill in November when down the track behind Fireball. Form is A1 and was scratched from the opening race for this. Keen.
2 Masked Vision (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes back to 1000m after racing over 1200m here when on speed and copped heat but tired badly in the straight. Slow recovery post race so he had an excuse and the debut run was super. He can bounce back hard.
12 Carnival Girl (Bet Now: $SP.00) is first up for Gary Colvin and is an interesting runner. She hasn’t raced since Sep 23 at Leeton when on speed and just felt the pinch late. Lands near the front again here and is one for exotics.
Race 3. (13:45) Nsw Racehorse Owners Association Mdn 1400m
2 Will The Thinker (Bet Now: $SP.00) will need luck from the gate but if he gets it, he’s top seed for mine. Thought he closed well last Tuesday at Queanbeyan, finishing strongly from off speed to finish second. If he gets luck from the gate, he only runs well.
4 Heligan (Bet Now: $SP.00) had had a few chances to break the maiden tag but that said, I think he’s racing in not too bad of form, his latest run seeing him finish third. Maps to do no work and will be effective late.
5 Don’t Get Dirty (Bet Now: $SP.00) is one of the better $101+ chances going around. Never really a threat when racing here last time but the finale was more than sound. Has to be one for exotics.
Race 4. (14:20) Daily Advertiser Showcase (Bm66) 2000m
5 Taytay Bay (Bet Now: $SP.00) each way for me. On the seven day back up after racing over this trip last Thursday at Wagga, getting off speed and worked home well enough in defeat. If he can be within range, he has the finale to score.
11 So So D’Oro (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Adrian Knox. Thrown in the deep end and just lacked the class/quality. Much better suited at this level and with a more patient steer, she can bounce back.
3 Winning Point (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Murrumbidgee Cup where he was back near last in the run and wasn’t too bad late without threatening. Maps to settle much closer and be effective late.
Race 5. (14:55) Devcore Property Group Showcase (Bm66) 1600m
12 A Dime Approach (Bet Now: $SP.00) is worthy of an each way speck. Former Victorian that is having his first run for Matty Dale. He didn’t fire a shot last prep but first up for the new stable, at a mile, T Berry booked…to me, there is clear intent here so at the price, I’ll speck.
8 The Stars Align (Bet Now: $SP.00) is flying at present. He has won two on the bounce, the latest coming at Canberra when giving them a start and a beating to win and win well. Good test here but hard to knock the way he’s racing.
5 Grey Lad (Bet Now: $SP.00) has a good racing style and will give himself every chance, as seen at Wodonga last start when on speed and looked the winner for a fair way up the straight but had to settle for a second. Dangerous if the track is playing up/in.
Race 6. (15:35) George Carroll Kitchens & Joinery Hcp (C1) 1200m
1 Kendalia (Bet Now: $SP.00) for me. He resumes for Matty Dale, his first run since Nov 7 at Albury over 1400m when working to the line well in defeat. Looks here to play and strikes a winnable race.
9 Hunter One (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after racing over 1000m at the Sapphire Coast when beaten for early speed but didn’t mind the way she finished her race off in defeat. Like the rise in trip and commands respect.
7 Just Hear Me Out (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been given a mini freshen up since March 19 when seemingly struggling at Albury but the track was quite shifty and I don’t think he appreciated it. Firmer deck here, he’s an improver.
Race 7. (16:10) Wagga Town Plate 1200m
9 Indispensable (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a massive price here I feel. Resumed in the Prelude and was never a winning threat but loved the way he closed his race off for a horse clearly in need of the run. They’ll go hard here so I want to be on something strong late that will do no work, which this horse fits the criteria of.
4 Royal Insignia (Bet Now: $SP.00) is the big watch horse. Grahame Begg trained galloper that returns as a gelding. Has Group class ability but hasn’t put it all together. Spelled, gelded, three jumpouts…he’s here to play. Hopefully the market agrees.
8 Fine Vintage (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a ripper for Luke Pepper. He won at Warwick Farm last time, sitting on speed and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and score. Good racing style, he’ll be around the mark.
Race 8. (16:50) Magic Millions Country Boosted Showcase Hcp (C2) 1400m
10 Belnera (Bet Now: $SP.00) each way for me in the last. This mare comes back to 1400m after racing over the mile at Albury last start when off speed and was there to win but had no answers late for Brazil. Racing really well and is very genuine.
4 Spread The Love (Bet Now: $SP.00) was awful in the Guineas Prelude. Led and seemingly had every chance but was quite weak late. Better suited here I feel and with a more conservative steer, he can run a much improved race.
16 Lucy Lulu (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1400m after racing over 1300m here in the Queen Of The South Prelude when wide throughout and was never a factor. Hit and miss but if she brings her best, I say she’s dangerous.
