11 Mr Metrics (Bet Now: $2.90) should prove hard to run down from near the speed. First two starts/wins for the career resulted in dominant all the way wins in solid time. He then went to Oakbank where he led again and battled away pretty well in defeat when third to Defining. Williams on board, he’ll slide forward and take beating.

6 Rialtor (Bet Now: $7.00) is a quality animal for Stuart Padman that comes back to town in winning form after leading throughout at Penola. Led throughout under Angus Chung and gave nothing else a look in on the very testing ground. Has measured up in town before so he commands respect.

9 Lianne (Bet Now: $17.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. Her two runs back from a spell have been encouraging. Resumed and far from disgraced behind Calypso Reign. Then raced last Saturday and was solid late behind an in form Another Award. Third up now, hard fit, she is capable.

8 She’s A Toff (Bet Now: $4.40) is a promising mare for David Jolly that I am confident can measure up. Was a notable drifter in betting when resuming at the Easter Monday meeting at Oakbank and was one of the rare horses across the two meetings to lead throughout and win nearer the inside. Plenty of merit to that…if there is no second up syndrome, she’s the one they have to beat.

11 Li’l Piper (Bet Now: $14.00) is a leading chance. Run off her legs early three weeks ago over 1100m on the course proper but picked up and surged hard, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Aston Rapova. Tempo won’t be as hot this time around so she can settle closer in the run and the extra week off I do like.

4 Miss Langtry (Bet Now: $10.00) will be dangerous if she’s within range on the turn. Brutal tempo saw her lose sight of the bunny when racing three weeks back on the course proper here and was good late behind Aston Rapova. She’ll take beating if she gets a drag into the race and isn’t far off the front few 400m out.

9 Full Probe (Bet Now: $6.50) looks a straight bat option. He did a good job in the Summer, winning two of four, the latest run coming on Boxing Day when fourth to Poysed To Rein. Two jumpouts to get ready for his return, he’ll put himself on down and prove hard to run down.

5 Meteorite (Bet Now: $3.40) is a huge market watch. Formerly with Team McEvoy, he now finds himself with Will Clarken, one of the best when it comes to tried horses and improving them. Trial/jumpout work has been very sharp and at his best, he can run sizzling time over the short course. Market will tell you if he’s ready. Hoping he is.

7 Diamonds (Bet Now: $4.80) is a Chris Bieg trained mare that resumes, potentially with eyes towards a Proud Miss. Hasn’t raced since December 11 down the straight at Flemington when a close up fourth to Florescent Star in a blanket finish. Has run well at Stakes level before and sprints well fresh.

Hard to get away from 10 Defining (Bet Now: $4.00) for Team McEvoy. She was smashed in betting at Oakbank two weeks ago and the market got it absolutely spot on. She was the only horse you wanted to be on and she spanked them by a space. Just has to hold her form and I think she wins again.

1 Hopon Harry (Bet Now: $20.00) is racing well without winning for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp. Game third two back behind Somewatt Fabulus before going to Oakbank where he tried but was clearly no match for Defining. Off that effort, I doubt he’s good enough to win, but a first four threat.

Fitter and up to 1400m are two big ticks for 6 Star Of Chaos (Bet Now: $11.00). Ended last prep with a midfield effort in the Twilight Glow during the Spring. Resumed over 1100m at Caulfield where she was near the speed throughout and battled on quite strongly when third. Like her up in trip and I think ridden a touch more quiet, she’ll be effective late.

7 Hope At Hand (Bet Now: $15.00) is a quality filly for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp. Both career outings have been quite good, the latest a dominant win four weeks ago over 1100m, coming with a well timed run to draw clear and spank them. Good test here, but think she can measure up.

5 See You In Heaven (Bet Now: $2.35) could stamp herself a genuine Melbourne Spring filly with another Stakes win here. Beaten odds on pop fresh on Adelaide Cup Day behind Bistro before going to the Dequetteville where she was double figure odds but ridden cold off a good speed, she exploded late and was dominant in winning. Tricky gate, but she commands respect.

3 Spencer’s Spirit (Bet Now: $51.00) is a horse with talent. David Tootell trains this gelding, that resumed several weeks ago over 1100m here and worked to the line pretty well from off the speed when third to Hope At Hand. The form out of that race, I think, will be solid, and he can pinch a first four sport.

4 Harleymoven (Bet Now: $2.20) is the #1 seed for the locals when it comes to this race and the SA Derby. Arrogant win two back on the Parks track before racing three weeks ago in the Port Adelaide Guineas where Hurdle made sure the inside gate was used and once he was able to land box seat, it was race over and he gapped them. Extremely hard to beat once again.

3 Jungle Magnate (Bet Now: $9.00) should appreciate the rise in trip for the Price/Kent camp. Resumed with a win on protest in the Mornington Guineas before remaining at the mile at Caulfield two weeks ago where he got back in the run and was okay without being a threat. Like him on the bigger track and big tick is getting to 2000m.

5 Son Of Emperor (Bet Now: $6.00) is unbeaten in two runs for the Price/Kent camp. Dominant all the way win in the first run over the mile at Pakenham before going to Caulfield where he was specked at a price and under J Kah, he found hard late to fend them off and win. Hard to knock the way he’s racing at the moment.

I’m keen on 5 Douceur (Bet Now: $17.00) running well here. Luckless in her first two runs for the prep before going to the mile at Caulfield where to the eye, she was plain, but post race she was found to be lame, so a clear excuse. Track should have some give in it, which will be ideal for her, and off her first two runs this time in, she’ll eat up 2000m.

You’d assume Jamie Kah had the choice of either 6 My Whisper (Bet Now: $3.00) or Mamounia given she has an association with both so the fact she goes with My Whisper might be a lead. Dominant wins at Sandown before sitting wide throughout in the Auraria but was too classy for them in a really strong effort.

10 Glint Of Hope (Bet Now: $12.00) has looked an Oaks horse all prep. Pushed My Whisper hard two back at Sandown before going to Caulfield where she was warming to the task late in a good effort. She’ll love the rise to 2000m and with that sense of timing, she appeals.

3 Morvada (Bet Now: $4.00) becomes very dangerous if the track is playing on speed. He was several weeks between runs when racing over 1400m at Oakank. He didn’t handle the downhill run and sharp home turn that flash but balanced up and kept finding the line, only to be nabbed late by Zoist. Hard to beat if the track is suiting those near the front.

8 Zoist (Bet Now: $5.00) deserves a crack at some blacktype and a win here will give connections a $10,000 bonus after winning a race at Oakbank two weeks ago, helped by a peach from Barend Vorster, who found the A1 ground near the outside fence to blouse them. He’s flying and will be strong late.

10 Struck By (Bet Now: $6.00) has gone off the boil but I think he’s had excuses his past couple. Copped too much heat on speed two back when third to Struck By. He then went to Oakbank and this isn’t a crack at Angus Chung. But he just couldn’t steer the horse properly and ride it out like a stronger/senior rider would have. He seems to be a horse who thrives on a rider that takes no BS so he can definitely bounce back.

7 My Boy Birmingham (Bet Now: $3.00) on top in the get out. Team McEvoy trained gelding that resumes, having not raced since the Country Final during Cup Week at Flemington when a tired horse, looking for the paddock, when down the track behind Bermadez. Two jumpouts have been strong and stable gets J Kah fresh. Good enough for me.

The Blinkers are back on 3 Extra Time (Bet Now: $10.00) and hopefully that can spark him back into action. Far from disgraced fresh in the Manihi behind Lombardo before going to the Railway at Oakbank and he failed to fire on the tricky track. Back on familiar ground with the gear tinkering, I am expecting improvement, and his best is clearly good enough.

15 Tubby Two Tracks (Bet Now: $34.00) is a Chris Bieg trained mare that continued her love affair with Gawler when winning there first up. She then went to Oakbank when near the speed throughout but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Belle Plaisir. Not sure she wins, but a first four threat.
