The Brisbane Carnival continues at Eagle Farm this Saturday with a host of feature races across the nine event program. The weather forecast is for showers, the track is good (4) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (11:28) Treasury Brisbane Hcp 1825m
3 Our Intrigue (Bet Now: $9.00) could be a moral here. It was a prep run for her fresh at Newcastle when back in the run and failing to come on behind stablemate O’President. Loved a recent tick over trial from her and back on a firmer deck, with good upside for an in form stable, she could easily put a margin on this lot.
4 Trevelyan (Bet Now: $4.20) is racing like he will eat up the 1800m. Dominant win over the mile here a few weeks back, sitting back off the speed and coming with a well timed run to sprint clear late and was pretty strong to the line and through it. Off that, 1800m is fine and is a leading contender.
1 Star Of Michelin (Bet Now: $5.00) isn’t far off another win for Stuart Kendrick. Ran over this track/distance a fortnight back where he got back in the run and while he was never a winning threat, but liked the way he finished his race off when third to Reggiewood. Harder here, but he saves his best for the big track here and should be strong at the end.
Race 2. (12:03) Treasury Brisbane (Bm75) 1825m
I’m quite keen on 11 Three Wise Men (Bet Now: $7.00). Ed Cummings trained three year old that should love the rise in trip and getting onto a dry deck. He ran in a Midway at Randwick last start when back near last in the run on a day where backmarkers had no hope. His run was very good and up to 1800m, he’ll take beating.
7 Vitesse Francais (Bet Now: $4.40) is a progressive four year old for Kelly Schweida that commands respect. Lovely ride from Maloney saw him get the job done at Ipswich last start, coming with a well timed run to nail the leader late. I reckon ridden quiet is his go in life, so hopefully that can eventuate here.
2 Hostage Of War (Bet Now: $8.50) will jump on the bunny and run a bold race, which is what he did over this track/distance two weeks back, just proving no match for a handy one in Reggiewood. 85 to 75 grade here, Lloyd sticks, likely leads and will run well for his supporters.
Race 3. (12:38) Treasury Brisbane Qlty 1300m
I want to give 4 Minsk Moment (Bet Now: $5.00) another chance back on top of the ground. Chris Waller trained colt that hasn’t raced since Golden Slipper Day when down the track in the Darby Munro behind Mazu, not really handling the wet track. Fresh legs and back on top of the ground, with class, can bounce back.
5 Kir Royale (Bet Now: $3.50) is a daughter of I Am Invincible for Chris Waller that resumes. This girl has done little wrong in a four start career, which came during the Spring/Summer, the last run coming in January when third at Rosehill. Two trials to get ready and stable has been waiting for a dry track, which she gets it here.
7 Zavaboom (Bet Now: $4.00) has come back really well. He comes through the Enterprise Pomme race from severak weeks back here and was good late from off the speed when third to the O’Dea/Hoysted runner. Yet to prove himself at 1300m but the way he’s racing, he’ll be fine at it.
Race 4. (13:13) Treasury Brisbane (Bm85) 1600m
10 Lunakorn (Bet Now: $6.00) is knocking on the door for Kris Lees and is racing like she wants further, which she gets here. Just got a bit too far out of her ground over 1500m here two weeks back but was good late when a close up fourth. Like her up to the mile and has a touch of class when she’s ready to go.
5 Gave Us Up (Bet Now: $2.60) commands respect. Lovely ride from Brad Stewart saw him bolt up here a fortnight back, really charging clear late when asked for the big effort. Gets in really well at the weights after the claim and he has a liking for Eagle Farm.
2 Wham (Bet Now: $6.50) is flying and deserves a crack at Saturday metro level for Lindsay Hatch. Too sharp for them at the Sunny Coast two back before going to Doomben when ridden positively and the ride won the race IMO when fending off Get The Idea. Good test here, but hard to knock the way he’s going.
Race 5. (13:48) Dalrello Stakes 1000m
Safe option is 2 Brereton (Bet Now: $6.50) for Peter Moody. Quality juvenile that dodged the Autumn in what I think was the right move by connections. This looks his level and there are plenty of races the next few weeks he will be suited in, starting here. Looked sharp in a Pakenham jumpout, he’ll land in the first few and prove hard to beat.
9 Plymstock (Bet Now: $11.00) is a James Cummings trained filly that resumes. She had a two run Autumn prep, winning on debut at Randwick before racing there again in the Lonhro Plate and she failed to fire a shot. Given a break in search of blacktype and she has trialled up nicely.
12 Al Pal’s Gal (Bet Now: $61.00) is one for exotics. Beaten odds on pop two back over 800m at Dalby before going to this track/distance where she chased strongly from off the speed, running a game second to Allude. Not sure she’s good enough to win, but she can fill a first four spot.
Race 6. (14:23) Treasury Brisbane Plate (C3) 1200m
I’m confident that 14 Arentee (Bet Now: $3.40) can measure up. Chris Meagher trained gelding that resumed over 1050m at Doomben where he looked a good thing on paper under Callow, making a mess of them from on speed and running fast time. Good depth here, but 1200m looks fine, down in the weights and prove hard to beat.
9 Maybe The Best (Bet Now: $6.50) is a quality mare that resumes for David Vandyke. This girl hasn’t raced since Feb 6 at the Sunny Coast when giving them a spanking over 1000m in a brilliant return to the track. Can’t find a recent trial for her but she is potentially blacktype class, so keen to see how she goes.
20 Titanium (Bet Now: $34.00) will be spotting those in front a start but he can unleash a decent finale. That was the case at Ipswich last time, geting a mile out of his ground but charging late when second to La Amigo. Clearly this is harder, but while those in front will be tiring, he’ll be launching.
Race 7. (15:02) Queensland Guineas 1600m
3 Bend The Knee (Bet Now: $4.20) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. Prep run fresh in the Darby Munro behind Mazu before going to the South Pacific and he was quite good from off the pace when third to Vilana, beaten over a length. He’s hard fit now and should be strong late.
2 Character (Bet Now: $7.00) looks the map horse. James Cummings trained three year old that comes here on the fresh side after contesting the Derby where he found 2400m on a bog track a bridge too far behind Hitotsu. Tick over trial was strong, he’ll get a suck run from gate one and has the class edge.
5 Cape Breton (Bet Now: $20.00) is knocking on the door. Ridden too warm in the Canberra Guineas behind Flying Crazy before bumping into the same horse here in the Daybreak Lover, working to the line strongly after being ridden cold. I think with a patient steer, that is when he is most effective. Key threat.
Race 8. (15:42) Victory Stakes 1200m
12 Jamaea (Bet Now: $21.00) saves her best for dry ground and she’ll get that here at Eagle Farm. Has been kept on ice for Team Price since The Galaxy when struggling on the testing Rosehill track behind the then in form Shelby Sixtysix. Trialled well since and on firmer footing, an improved showing is on the cards.
3 Rothfire (Bet Now: $2.40) is an absolute bomb horse for Rob Heathcoate that resumes. High class sprinter that was on an Everest prep in the Spring but he got injured in the Premiere and was spelled soon after. As you’d expect, lit up the turf in a trial win to tune up…I’m saying he’s here to make a statement.
11 Startantes (Bet Now: $9.50) kicks off a likely Stradbroke/Tatts Tiara path so will be better as the prep goes on, but she has class. Looked like she would win the Surround when she loomed but the photo just went the way of Hinged in a thrilling finish. She’ll be strong late. Just depends what sort of start she’ll concede.
Race 9. (16:18) Treasury Brisbane Plate (C6) 1400m
5 Go Wandji (Bet Now: $2.50) can keep progressing towards the Stradbroke with a win here. He should have won three weeks back at Doomben but just had no luck in the straight, charging late to run a very narrow second. 1400m on the bigger track, hard fit…gee it all points to him winning and making a statement.
9 Bullfinch (Bet Now: $6.00) has won at the mile overseas but I do think 1400m is his A1 trip here. Ran over 1500m here a fortnight back and I thought he was there to win. Just couldn’t quite finish it off, finishing a very narrow third. If he’s within range, with a soft trip, he’ll launch and be hard to hold out.
11 New Arrangement (Bet Now: $6.50) is bursting to win one for Chris Waller. Doubt it comes here, but he’s in good form. Four weeks between runs since an eye catching effort at Eagle Farm behind stablemate Bullfinch. He tends to race best with fresh legs and should be strong late.
