Nine races will be run and won at Morphettville Parks this Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (13:02) Sportsbet Jockey Watch Mdn Plate 1000m
11 Yayoi (Bet Now: $9.50) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Team Hawkes, she now finds herself with the Clarken/O’Shea camp. She had two runs for the Hawkes stable in NSW, both runs seeing her finish fourth and each time she was good in defeat. Trialled up well and this stable are guns when it comes to tried horses.
14 Whine For Wine (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a nice filly for Andrew Gluyas that resumes. This girl debuted at Murray Bridge on Aug 31 where she had a decent run in transit and loomed to win but just couldn’t quite see it through behind Duchess Of Sussex. This isn’t a strong race and that form does appear to read well here, so I say she’ll be hard to beat.
10 Press Express (Bet Now: $2.35) seems to be a short course specialist so for mine, is suited here at the 1000m, especially if they jump/run, which was the case at Murray Bridge last time and tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when second to Naralinga. Not sure she wins, but she’ll give a decent sight.
Race 2. (13:37) Festival Hire (Rs1mw) 1250m
4 Top Calibre (Bet Now: $2.45) is the straight bat option. Alex Rae trained gelding that is unbeaten in two career outings, spanking them on debut at Bairnsdale before proving that was no fluke with a dominant win on the course proper here four weeks ago. Good test here against likely types but maps perfect and should be strong late.
7 Schroder’s Mistake (Bet Now: $2.25) will put himself on speed and try his guts out, which was the case a fortnight back here when leading and copping heat but he did stick on very well and was only run down by Great Maximus, who had the suck run in behind. If there is petrol left in the tank, he takes beating.
5 Brazen Kingdom (Bet Now: $9.50) is a Phillip Stokes trained gelding that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Aug 3 when a strong winner at Murray Bridge, giving them a start and a beating. He has trialled up really well for the return and has a good fresh record. One of the leading contenders.
Race 3. (14:12) The Fotobase Group (Bm74) 1950m
7 Dolcemente (Bet Now: $4.00) looks the one on the up for John Hyam. She has won two on the bounce, both over 1800m on the course proper, with the latest win being four weeks ago when on the seven day back up and was too strong for them late. Extra 150m should be fine and has upside/scope compared to most.
5 Proven Correct (Bet Now: $5.50) has found winning form and he can certainly go on with it for Andrew Gluyas. He won two weeks ago over 1550m here, leading throughout and credit to him, he was there to be beaten but he found under pressure to fend them off and win. The rise in trip is fine and this ain’t a deep race.
1 Clever Man (Bet Now: $26.00) gets in well after the claim and his best is good enough to be dangerous after racing in the Dunkeld Cup where he just found them a bit sharp over 1800m but he stayed on and was good in defeat. Up in trip now, gets the 3kg claim and will be strong late.
Race 4. (14:47) Sportsbet Fast Form (Bm66) 1400m
4 Spirit Of Camelot (Bet Now: $1.70) is a mare heading in the right direction for Michael Hickmott and rates highly off the back of a sharp win on the Parks track a few weeks back where she was backed as if unbeatable and duly saluted, winning by a space. Her confidence is up and the stable is flying.
1 Alectrona (Bet Now: $3.90) looks a key threat. Team McEvoy trained mare that resumed over 1300m on Bendigo Cup Day when near the speed and she tried hard but couldn’t quite see it through when third to Floozie. Maps ideally, good upside to come and finds a winnable race.
5 Angelic Appeal (Bet Now: $15.00) is three weeks between runs since racing over this track/distance when taking on the boys, and stronger company. She got a fair way out of her ground and made up solid headway late in the piece when third to Easy Campese. Back to Mares grade, she takes beating.
Race 5. (15:22) Happy 60Th Paul Smith Hcp (C2) 1550m
4 Swycho (Bet Now: $2.10) looks one of the hardest to beat. She ran over 1700m on Oaks Day at Flemington when attempting to lead throughout and she gave a strong kick but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Bon Mistress. That form has to read well for a race like this.
1 Morris Minor (Bet Now: $3.10) is racing like a rise in trip will be ideal. He ran behind Great Maximus two weeks ago and you can make a case to say he goes close with clear air but got badly held up a crucial stage and had plenty to offer so be forgiving when third. Up in trip is fine and strikes a winnable race.
3 Flambard (Bet Now: $7.00) is a definite winning chance. He was well backed in betting when racing at Balaklava last time out, giving them a start and a beating and was very strong to the line. The run prior at this track was quite good and is certainly in the mix as a winning chance.
Race 6. (15:57) Winning Edge Presentations (Bm76) 1000m
10 Vintage Star (Bet Now: $2.80) comes here with fresh legs for Team Jolly, having not raced since Oct 19 when a strong winner over 1100m on the course proper here, sitting wide no cover throughout but he found under pressure and was too strong. Good test here, but confident he measures up.
5 Deepfloat Diva (Bet Now: $4.40) is a beauty for Team Jolly and is in ripping form at the moment. He ran over 1100m at Morphettville a few weeks ago when near the speed and presented to win but just couldn’t quite get there behind Sir Sway. I think with a positive on speed ride, he takes beating.
7 Secret War (Bet Now: $21.00) is three weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance where he did too much work to land on speed and hold a spot, tiring late to finish down the track behind The Gov. I think if he finds the front and gets front end control, he takes beating at odds.
Race 7. (16:37) Quayclean Hcp (64) 1000m
3 Qeyaady (Bet Now: $8.50) is one of the key threats. He was seven weeks between runs when racing over this track/distance two weeks ago where he got into a decent spot in transit and tried hard but couldn’t quite get there when third to Cool Magnum. He has good upside/improvement to come and this race isn’t strong.
1 The Stalker (Bet Now: $6.50) comes through the Cool Magnum race from a fortnight back. He sat near the speed and tried hard but just lacked the killer blow to go with them late and felt the pinch late. I think with a better run in transit, he can win for sure.
8 O’whatapicture (Bet Now: $15.00) rises sharply in depth but hard to knock the way he’s racing at present. He has won two on the bounce, firstly at Balaklava before going to Broken Hill where he was a dominant winner in what looked a solid 58. I think he can measure up against this lot.
Race 8. (17:12) Weslo Staff Hcp (64) 2250m
8 Chosen Miss (Bet Now: $7.50) jumped sharply back in trip last time out and now she jumps sharply up in trip again. She was 2100m to 1550m when racing here a fortnight back and was good in defeat I thought, especially given the set up, behind Eaglelou. Back up in trip and this isn’t an overly deep contest.
2 Tewkesbury (Bet Now: $3.70) is racing well for Team McEvoy and strikes a winnable race. He ran over 2600m at Ballarat last time out where he loomed to win from off the speed but just couldn’t quite get there when second. Racing in very consistent form at present and back to 2250m is a big tick.
1 Lavish Thinker (Bet Now: $6.50) looks hard to beat after a track/distance placing three weeks ago when on speed and giving a strong kick under Neindorf but couldn’t quite finish the job when third to the in form Tippa, who won again last Saturday to frank the form. That surely reads well for this.
Race 9. (18:00) Sportsbet (Bm66) 1400m
8 Never Surrender (Bet Now: $6.50) is three weeks between runs for Andrew Gluyas since racing over this track/distance when near the speed and doing work but credit to him, he fought on really well and only just tired late when third to impressive winner Mighty Sapphire. Better run in transit, he takes beating.
5 Lomax (Bet Now: $20.00) comes back to 1400m from the mile but he is a hard fit/in form galloper. He was a mile winner on the course proper four weeks ago, getting a sweet steer by Neindorf and in a driving go late, he was too good for them. He’ll likely get back but be strong at the end.
7 Final Chance (Bet Now: $27.00) is on the quick back up after racing on Sunday at Strathalbyn when back off the speed and kept finding the line without threatening in a pretty good effort behind proven metro performer Limited Risk. Not sure he is a horse I could back to win but is one for exotics.
