Race 1. (12:09) Bob & Jill Memorial (Bm80) 2500m
Not much of a race this, but for the sake of a tip, on top is 3 Miss Gobcain (Bet Now: $2.00). Three weeks between runs since racing over 2000m where she was very one paced on the testing ground and whacked away gamely when third to Ichibansan. Like her up to 2500m and on a firmer deck, Vorster on, she’ll do me.
5 Dixie Whistler (Bet Now: $7.50) has been up a little while but she’s racing really well for the Richards/Moyle camp. Tad plain here two back on a bog behind Ichibansan so the stable backed it up a week later at Murray Bridge and ran a narrow second to Lord Bouzeron. That looks to read well enough for this.
4 Smiling Assassin (Bet Now: $6.00) will be strong late. He got a mile out of his ground at Murray Bridge last time but liked the way he finished his race off when fourth to the in form Lord Bouzeron. He tends to save his best for Murray Bridge but has run well in town previously. Knockout chance.
Race 2. (12:42) Australian Trainer's Assoc Mdn 1100m
Back to 1100m I hate for 11 Pretty Reliable (Bet Now: $4.00) because I think 1400m+ is when she’ll fire, but with that said, there is good speed engaged here and while they’ll be getting the staggers, she’ll be the closer. She was very good late on debut at Murray Bridge over 1200m behind Intrepid Eagle, finishing third. Hard to beat if she’s within range.
7 Sghirippa (Bet Now: $1.95) is a Team Oxlade trained gelding that resumes. He had a two run prep as a juvenile and showed good promise, which followed sharp efforts at the trials/jumpouts. He’s done that again leading into this prep and the market hasn’t missed him. Last 10-15 minutes of betting will tell you if he’s ready.
6 Pearl Adios (Bet Now: $7.00) is the main threat. He ran last Wednesday in a Gawler maiden where he had the suck run behind the speed and presented to win when clear but couldn’t get past Lucky Blue, who had been knocking on the door to win a maiden for some time. Maps ideally and has the hard race fitness/experience.
Race 3. (13:17) Thomas Farms Hcp (58) 1050m
5 Lope De Wolf (Bet Now: $9.00) is a knockout hope. He ran in the Zarace race from a few weeks back where he was never really a winning threat but that said, he worked to the line okay late in the piece. He has a very good second up record, which he is here, so he can bounce back hard.
4 Magic Phantom (Bet Now: $6.00) is a hard horse to follow/trust but I think he’s racing in solid enough form to command respect here. Ran over 1000m on the Parks track at the midweeks and worked to the line pretty well late in the piece when third to Old Time Rock. Thin race, he’s a key chance.
8 Fields Of Athenry (Bet Now: $8.00) ran two weeks back at Murray Bridge and the run was a clear forgive IMO given they rode her very warm, sitting on speed, and she couldn’t finish it off, running down the track. With a more conservative steer, she’ll run a much improved race.
Race 4. (13:52) Hindmarsh Plumbing (Bm68) 1800m
I think a rise in trip is ideal for 6 African Awesome (Bet Now: $7.50). I was really keen on him over 1550m at the midweeks on the Parks here last time and I thought he had every chance, comfortably held by Another Free Glass. He has won up to 2200m so I do think a rise to 1800m is a plus and he has upside.
2 Trumpsta (Bet Now: $4.60) is racing so well for Phillip Stokes. Strong on speed win over 1950m on the Parks track last time, pouring the pressure on from a fair way out and he really toughed it out superbly to wear down the leader and win well. If that hasn’t busted him, he commands respect.
4 Rapid Raiser (Bet Now: $5.00) can bounce back. He is on the seven day back up after racing last Saturday over 1950m on the Parks track here where he had a suck run behind the speed and battled on just fairly behind Aeecee Dolce. Back on the course proper and back to 1800m, an improved showing is on the cards.
Race 5. (14:27) Fullhammer (Bm72) 1600m
2 Melody Man (Bet Now: $3.70) has found winning form and I think he can hold it. Just a run I thought fresh behind Zoulah before racing at this track/distance several weeks ago where he made an absolute mess of them from on speed and was quite dominant on the line. He’s got room for improvement and is hard to beat once again.
6 Unlaced (Bet Now: $6.50) is three weeks between runs for Michael Hickmott since racing at this track/distance where she was near the speed and she tried her guts out. Just couldn’t quite get past leader France’s Boy, who had control in front and kicked on too strongly. Hard to beat against this lot.
11 Kenyan Wonder (Bet Now: $21.00) is racing like the mile will be ideal. Ran over 1400m at Murray Bridge two weeks back where she got back in the run and never really threatened but was good late behind Impossible Action. Racing as if 1600m suits and dangerous if she can settle closer in the run.
Race 6. (15:07) Grand Synd. - Join Team (Bm82) 1050m
9 Great Diviner (Bet Now: $5.50) should be suited here for Will Clarken. Market said he would need the run when resuming over 1050m here three weeks ago and that’s how it panned out, though he did make up some headway behind Zarace. Fitter and showed last prep he does have a touch of class/quality.
8 Extra Mile (Bet Now: $8.50) is working up to a win. Last couple of runs have come over 1000m at Murray Bridge, the latest being a fortnight back where he tracked up beautifully out wide with cover and launched late, but couldn’t quite get there when second to Wolflands. He’s nearing a win and gets his chance here.
6 Aadelad (Bet Now: $11.00) has been thereabouts this time in and that should be the case again. He ran two weeks back at Murray Bridge where he was near the speed throughout and battled on really well when fourth to Wolflands. I doubt he wins, but he can fill a first four spot.
Race 7. (15:47) Maughan Thiem Auto Group (62) 1200m
7 Bellini Miss (Bet Now: $10.00) looks really well placed here by Lindsey Smith. She resumed on a bottomless at Warrnambool and tried her guts out but couldn’t pick up in the conditions when fourth. On a firmer deck and the stable rarely get it wrong when they come to SA. With upside, Pannell on, she’s the pony to beat.
1 Born To Run (Bet Now: $7.50) is a key threat. Peach ride from Hurdle saw him bolt up at this track a few weeks back, settling just off the speed before coming with a well timed run and showed good change up speed to win and win well. Has to be respected against this lot.
12 Graceful Eagle (Bet Now: $8.00) certainly appeals in a race like this. Just a run first up behind Madam Furphy where she needed the hitout after a long break. She then ran two weeks ago and was very good from the back behind Cheloon. She’s got good upside to come and near peak fitness now, she appeals.
Race 8. (16:27) Australian Clinical Labs-Bm60 1600m
4 The Big Kahuna (Bet Now: $6.00) is a horse I have plenty of time for. He resumed at this track/distance several weeks ago where he got a mile out of his ground but was absolutely trucking before slicing through late and drove hard to run second to Prince Jofra. He’s got really good ability IMO and finds a very thin 60.
10 Turfitt (Bet Now: $4.00) is bursting to win a race for the Richards/Moyle camp. Ran last Saturday on the Parks track where she got badly held up at a crucial stage and had that not happened, I think she wins instead of a narrow second. Better luck this time around, she’ll be around the mark.
8 The Snow Burner (Bet Now: $26.00) is progressive and is a knockout chance at odds. He ran last Wednesday in a Gawler maiden where he got back in the run but was able to cut back inside and in a driving go, he finished best to win well. He was 1200m to 1500m that afternoon so he’ll be better for the run and can be dangerous.
Race 9. (17:02) On Fire Racing Syndication-62 1200m
14 The Wizard King (Bet Now: $SP.00) on top. Shawn Mathrick trained three year old that was awfully placed as a juvenile, contesting strong races and was just outclassed. Given a break, resumed in a thin Wangaratta maiden and he made a mess of them in an impressive return. If he can build off that, he’s the one they have to beat.
3 Exalted Fire (Bet Now: $9.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Grant Young, he now finds himself with Michael Hickmott, a stable that can improved a tried horse. His form tapered off towards the end of last prep but with a new camp now and his trial win was a good piece of work, so watch the market.
8 Hansom Man (Bet Now: $13.00) is one I could see pinch a first four spot. Teased to win a race and that win came last Wednesday at Gawler, appreciating a wet track and in a slog to the line, finished best. Not sure I could back him to win, but he’s one I could include in wider exotics.
Race 10. (17:40) House Inspect Australia (Bm68) 1050m
I think you have to be with 1 Taunting (Bet Now: $2.15) in the last. This four year old was an electric first up winner at Murray Bridge, darting up nearer the inside, which was the worst part of the track, and he made a mess of them. Tends to race best with fresh legs, so with several weeks between runs, gate one, soft trip, class, he’ll do me.
2 Agrimony (Bet Now: $8.00) deserves another chance. Will Clarken trained gelding that was a total forgive a few weeks back given he made his run nearer the inside of the pack and the inside section of the track was clearly inferior ground, so forget he went around. His best is certainly good enough.
11 So You Can (Bet Now: $9.00) is a knockout chance for me. Macdonald/Gluyas trained gelding who hasn’t won in some time but is knocking on the door now as he drops in grade. He ran over 1100m here three weeks aog and worked home with purpose from the back, looking the winner but was nabbed on the peg by Saville. Back to 1050m I find interesting but should be strong late.
