3/8/2024 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Belmont, Jockey Celebration Day Stakes day

4 Glasgow Lass (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is short enough but she does look to have a bit on this lot. She hasn’t raced since an electric debut win at Ascot on Jan 27 when letting down with real purpose from off the speed to win. Could be a filly to follow over the next couple of months and trial work to get ready has been very strong.

2 Lano (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1200m after a debut win over 1400m where he got into a decent spot just off the speed before being presented clear air and he finished off strongly late in the piece to score. Good test here against a nice horse, but he could be a nice horse in his own right.

6 Net Zero (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a complete knockout hope. He debuted two weeks back over 1200m here where he got back to near last in the run, was very raw and new to the caper, but his finale was sound enough in defeat I thought behind Horcrux. Maps to settle closer, do no work and be strong at the end.

2 Bonnie Lad (Bet Now:  $SP.00) hasn’t really proven himself at metro level previously but this race isn’t strong re quality and he’s the one for me. He ran over 1000m at Bunbury last time where he gave them a start and a beating, launching late to finish best in a strong effort. Maps to do no work in the run and be effective late.

6 Think Of God (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a So You Think mare for Mitch Pateman that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since April 13 when close up and far from disgraced in defeat behind Sonoftheboss, who will be hard to beat later in the program. No public trial but Pike booked fresh signals intent.

3 Golden Fighter (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run an improved race at odds. He resumed three weeks back at this track/distance when four wide no cover throughout and that early burn just told late in the piece when down the track behind Supportive. Maps to get a much better run and his best is more than good enough.

4 King Cartel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. Surprising move that he has accepted given he won on Wednesday, leading throughout to win at this track/distance. Whether he backs up or not, have to wait and see, but he’s found winning form, maps to be near the speed and is a winner. Some of these are struggling to greet the judge first.

6 Lova Session (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one that is struggling to greet the judge first but is a mare that is racing very well at present. She ran a fortnight back at this track/distance when back off the speed and let down hard late, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Probity. Fiore rides and she gets Blinkers back on.

9 Rommeo (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1400m. She was 1400m back to 1300m last time where she got a mile out of her ground but loved the way she found the line late in the piece when a narrow second to No Brainer. Gets in well after the claim and should be strong at the end.

3 Toropa (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to have a bit on these. Unbeaten in three career runs for Vernon Brockman, the latest coming last Wednesday at this track/distance where she spanked her rivals after getting a suck run in transit off the speed. She has ticked the 1200m box and only has to hold her form to be winning again.

If odds on is too short for you re Toropa, back 7 Forever Classic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for a place. She resumed behind Toropa last Wednesday in the race mentioned above where she got dragged back from the wide gate and while she was never threatening, she found the line in a good return. Maps to settle much closer, dangerous at a price.

5 Military Power (Bet Now:  $SP.00) lands on speed and will give cheek. He sat near the front over 1100m at Northam last time out and gave a decent sight but just couldn’t quite see it through when third to Under Influence. The slight query is 1200m but with a cheap run on speed, he’ll give cheek.

2 Cold Shizzle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is worth an each way speck for mine. This gelding is first up, having not raced since March 9 when far from disgraced in the Bunbury Stakes behind Aztec Ruler. He does tend to love racing at Belmont, he can sprint well fresh and seemingly moved well in a recent Lark Hill trial. Happy to back him in each way.

4 Triple Jay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Team Pearce and rates as one of the hardest to beat. This guy has won two on the bounce sitting on speed at this track/distance three weeks ago and in a driving finish, she was too good. Good racing style, hard fit and in form, he appeals as one of the hardest to beat.

1 Another Chino (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Talented stayer for Dan Morton that resumes, I dare say with eyes towards the Perth Cup. He hasn’t raced since Dec 9 when down the track in the Towton Cup and his 2024 Perth Cup plans were shelved. He has looked great in trial work and brings class.

Keen to be with 1 Iowa (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Formerly with Annabel Neasham, his first run for Simon Miller came over the mile here three weeks ago where he just found them a bit sharp but credit to him, he stayed on and was great in defeat behind Falcon Trader. Fitter and up in trip, enormous upside, has class…keen.

4 Strike Now (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gets the Blinkers back on and can be an improver. He ran over 2200m here a fortnight back when off the speed and was a bit one paced in the run to the line but was far from disgraced in defeat. Blinkers on, maps to get a suck run and will be quite strong at the end.

2 Benji’s (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Cliff Green after racing over the mile here last Saturday. He was back off the speed and held up at times so be somewhat forgiving of the effort behind Desennea. Unknown at 2100m but he’s racing like he will be fine at it and does have an element of class in his own right.

1 Sonoftheboss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Jim Taylor. He was ridden with a sit when resuming three weeks ago over 1200m and the end result was an impressive win. Once upon a time, he was a horse that was ridden with intent and that was it for him but now with an extra string to his bow, he is good and can keep winning.

8 Sentimental Belle (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Team Williams and commands respect. She has won two on the bounce, winning last Saturday at this track/distance where she gave them a start and a beating, launching late to finish best in a very strong effort. Hard to knock the way she’s racing and commands respect.

9 Comic Hero (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1200m. He resumed over 1000m here two weeks back where he just found them a bit sharp, finishing down the track in what was pretty much another barrier trial for him behind Songaa. Good second up record and fitter, up to 1200m, he appeals.

4 Covert Rose (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the straight bat option for me. Team Williams trained mare that is 2/2 this time in, both at Bunbury, first up over 1400m before going to the mile and was impressive from on speed, drawing clear late to win and win well. Maps perfect again and confident she can measure up in town.

3 Alberich (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well without winning. He ran two weeks ago at this track/distance when off the speed and kept finding the line in a good effort behind Sensessional. If he can settle closer in the run, he’s going well enough to threaten, and does seem decent value.

8 Ultimate Style (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout hope if this track can dry out. He has been plagued by wet tracks in recent times, which is why I don’t think we have seen the best of him, the latest being behind Sensessional. If this track can indeed dry out, I think he’s going well enough to be a threat.

8 Deamber (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will do me in the get out. Steph Bakranich trains this mare, who has been strong this time in without winning. Latest run was four weeks ago over 1200m here when back off the speed and was trucking before angling clear and finished off her race strongly when second to Siberian Siren. Like her up to 1400m, maps perfect again, hard to beat.

7 Colossal (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the Pike ride in the race named after him, and no matter the size of the ego, you’d want to win the race named after you. This horse is sneaky flying I suspect after racing over 1200m here three weeks ago where he got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never a threat, his finale was quite good. He’ll spot them a start but should be strong at the end.

3 Without Reg (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is dangerous at odds. He resumed in the race mentioned above that Colossal contested, which was won by Boots Like Bruce. He got back in a race dominated on speed and kept finding the line, clocking good late splits. Dangerous if he can settle closer.

BEST BET: Race Four Number 3 Toropa

NEXT BEST: Race One Number 4 Glasgow Lass

LONG SHOT: Race Five Number 2 Cold Shizzle
