4 Excommunicado (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a really nice filly for Team Freedman and happy to be in her corner to make it 2/2. She debuted at Mornington where she was backed as if unbeatable and after sitting on speed, she drew clear late and was dominant in a sharp display. Had jumped out super prior to that so she looks like she has an engine under the hood. Siding with her.

2 Don’tdoubtlayla (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key chance. Ciaron Maher trained filly that resumed on the Kenso where she was met with market support at odds and the bets were landed as she came with a strong finale from off the speed to win and win impressively. She looks like she has an engine under the hood and with good upside/improvement, she appeals.

5 Lady Of Poise (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of Trapeze Artist for GaiBott that resumes. This girl debuted on the Kenso in July where she did a bit of early work from the wide gate but she kept finding under pressure and was strong in winning. Given a good break and with a couple of strong trials under the belt, she’s ready to go I’d suggest.

1 Smokin Giant (Bet Now:  $SP.00) could be a very nice horse. Keen to see how he goes at metro level after debuting with a spank job maiden win over the mile at Pakenham where he sat on speed under Lane before being clicked up 400m out and away he went, spanking them to win and win well. Off that debut win, he’ll take beating against this lot.

2 Crossoverkid (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is progressive and heading in the right direction for Andrew Payne. He ran three weeks ago over 2000m at Flemington where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a threat, he made up a stack of ground and was very good in defeat behind Bold Soul, who bolted up last week at Launceston to frank the form. He is hard to beat against these.

7 Yosemite Falls (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in with a shout for Archie Alexander. Daughter of Dundeel that went 1200m to 1600m when leading throughout and bolting up at Seymour last time, producing sustained speed from the front and giving nothing else a look in. Good test here against some likely types but off last run, she’s in with a shout.

3 Johnny Rocker (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should prove hard to beat for Nick Ryan. First run for the stable came two weeks ago down the straight at Flemington where he did a bit wrong under pressure but once switched on, he found the line with purpose when second to Mornington Glory, who won again last Saturday to frank the form. Fitter, bending track, good upside…hard to beat.

11 Tanto (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form and she can certainly go on with it. She won last Wednesday at Sandown, getting the sweet sit behind the speed before angling clear and she got better as the race went on to win and win well. There is depth to this 70 contest, but she’s hard fit, in form and has a kind map.

2 Deekay (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a son of Hellbet for Anthony Chibnall that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since Bendigo Cup Day when near the speed but didn’t finish it off at all behind Dashing. Good fresh record, has jumped out well and Blinkers first time for the return signals intent so watch the market.

The horse that I think is here to play is 4 Counteroffensive (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for Team Snowden. The stable won the Preview for the Boys with High Octane and bring this guy down. He trialled very well alongside High Octane then bolted up in his latest trial, interestingly with a cheekpiece on. Whether that is something they keep up the sleeve or have it on for the weekend, have to wait and see, but I think he’s here to play and stamp himself as a Blue Diamond contender.

2 Eneeza (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a sharp filly for Moody/Coleman that resumes. She ended her Spring prep on a high, taking out the Merson Cooper before being spelled with the Blue Diamond in mind. Thought she absolutely trucked in her Pakenham jumpout and while the Grand Final is a few weeks away, she is sharp enough to take this out, but the market will be the guide.

3 Scampi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Ciaron Maher trianed colt that is first up after a two run Spring. Too bad to be true on debut in the Breeders Plate before going to the Golden Gift when back and made up headway, far from disgraced in defeat behind Shangri La Express. Trial work to get ready has been encouraging and Zahra booked signals intent to me, so watch the market.

10 Bullet Wing (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell for Ben Brisbourne and should just about be at peak fitness. He attempted to lead throughout three weeks ago over 1400m at Flemington and he did give a strong kick but just couldn’t quite see it through, run down late by the in form Vagrant. Hard fit now and strikes another winnable race.

7 Punch Lane (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a break. Team Freedman trained gelding that let down with purpose to win fresh at Geelong before going to Sandown when near the speed throughout and seemingly had his chance I thought behind Magnaspin. Maps perfect, he gets M Zahra and should just about be at peak fitness.

15 Mawkeb (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Team Hayes since racing over the mile at Flemington where she contested a very messy race so be forgiving of the run behind Regal Vow. The run prior at this track/distance was very good and off that effort, she is good enough to take this out.

5 Herman Hesse (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable. Maher/Eustace trained stayer that ran at Flemington a few weeks ago where he kept chasing the speed and tried his guts out, but couldn’t quite finish it off in a blanket finish, beaten a lip by Aurora’s Symphony. I think he has room for improvement and seemingly strikes a winnable race.c

3 Monbaher (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has good upside to come and off the fresh effort, I think he’s a key threat. He resumed a few weeks ago at The Valley over 2040m where he looked in need of the run and while he didn’t win, he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Dunkel, beaten two lengths. Bigger track, fitter, up to 2400m, he only runs well.

2 Skelm (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a long spell and should appreciate a rise in trip. Both runs this prep have come over 2000m, the latest being three weeks back at Flemington where he just found them too sharp and was never really a factor when down the track behind Aurora’s Symphony. The rise in distance and added fitness, I am keen to see how he goes at a price.

I want to take a chance with 2 British Columbia (Bet Now:  $SP.00). To me, he has been very dour vs last prep. He has had two runs this time in, both runs seeing him very one paced, the latest behind So Risque at Flemington over 1400m. Hard fit and up to 1800m, B Shinn booked, there is enough there to say he can run a much improved race.

7 Star Vega (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is looking to make it three on the bounce for Team Freedman. He has run/won over 1800m at Sandown his last two, each time giving them a start and a beating in electric performances. He deserves a crack at Saturday metro level and for mine, this isn’t a deep Saturday race.

6 El Soleado (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is flying for Robbie Laing. He got a 12/10 from Zahra to win at Flemington two weeks back, slicing his way through the field and drove hard late to finish best. 1800m is okay after last run IMO, Zahra sticks and he finds another winnable race IMO. Leading contender.

1 Wrote To Arataki (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the class of the field and that will carry her a long way despite 1200m being short of her best. She is first up, having not raced since the Rupert Clarke when far from disgraced in defeat behind Magic Time. Good fresh horse, loves Caulfield…yes, tricky gate and big weight, but she has class.

7 Star Vega (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is looking to make it three on the bounce for Team Freedman. He has run/won over 1800m at Sandown his last two, each time giving them a start and a beating in electric performances. He deserves a crack at Saturday metro level and for mine, this isn’t a deep Saturday race.

4 Party For One (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a talented mare for Price/Kent that resumes. This girl was very frustrating early on in her career when with Joe Pride but she turned the corner when joining Price/Kent, with another big help for her being Blake Shinn. She is Stakes class at her best and her jumpout work has been more than encouraging to say she can run well fresh so watch the market.

9 Midtown Boss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has come back a different/better horse it seems and IMO, good luck beating him here. He resumed at Flemington on New Years Day where he looked a moral on paper and won accordingly, pretty much going to the line like it was a jumpout. He’s got good upside/improvement to come you’d assume and the way he won first up, he is in for a very fruitful prep. Keen.

3 Rey Magnerio (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a model of consistency and should be around the mark for Griffiths/De Kock. He put together three wins on the bounce before going to the Flemington straight two weeks ago where he was simply no match for Jungle Jim, who led throughout and was much too good. Back to 1100m I do like and back to a bending track, I am happy to give him another chance.

13 Kin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well without winning for James Cummings. She ran down the straight at Flemington two weeks back when off the speed and tried to get involved but just lacked the killer blow to put them away late when fourth to Sans Doute. Back to a bending track, good speed in front, she can run an improved race at odds.

13 Jimmysstar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very promising animal for Maher/Eustace that resumes. He created such an impression in his first Australian prep during the Spring, getting a 12/10 from Shinn to win on Bendigo Cup Day fresh before proving that was no one off with a dominant display on Cranbourne Cup Day. Jumpout work has been excellent and given connections have bigger aspirations, he’d want to be winning this.

16 Magnaspin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has come back in super order and appeals as one of the key chances. He resumed over 1300m at Sandown where he got into a lovely spot behind the speed and was absolutely bolting. Just a matter of getting clear air and once he did under Hefel, he finished best. Fitter and up in trip, it all points to him taking this out.

4 Conqueror (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks to be in for a really good prep and up to 1400m, he’s going to take beating. He resumed down the straight at Flemington two weeks ago where he was one of the first off the bit but he kept finding and was very strong to the line when third to impressive winner Jungle Jim. Fitter and up in trip, it all points to him running well.
