Race 1. (15:20) Drinkwise Mdn Plate 1100m
The gate is tricky for 4 Getty (Bet Now: $SP.00) but I think he’s clearly the one they have to beat. He had start one in The Debut on Magic Millions Day and I thought he did a good job in atrocious conditions, just missing out on the win when a narrow second to Rush Hour. Firmer footing and getting to 1100m, should slide forward with J Mac on and the unraced brigade do look thin as a whole.
3 Capital Heart (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Capitalist on debut for John O’Shea. He’s had two trials to get ready for start one and has won both trials. He was ridden out to win the latest trial but seemed to move well enough in solid time. Should be able to hold a forward spot from the inside gate and in terms of first starters, he is the one that seems to have the most talent.
6 August Bloom (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Snowden filly that is on debut. She trialled last week at Randwick over 1045m where she got a fair way back in the run and was good to the line late under riding to finish fourth. I think she is a filly who will appreciate more ground but if they overdo it in front, look for her to be one of the strongest at the end.
Race 2. (16:00) Ranvet Mdn Plate 1100m
9 Parisal (Bet Now: $SP.00) is short enough but she does appear to have a bit on them. James Cummings trained filly that resumes after a two run Spring prep to start her career, running a close up second on debut at Canterbury before going to the Reginald Allen when far from disgraced in defeat behind A Lot More Love. Couple of strong trials to get ready and for mine, this looks to be a kill.
4 Dakota Vroom (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beautifully bred filly on debut for Chris Waller and rates highly. This girl is by I Am Invincible out of Blue Diamond winner Catchy so she is bred to be a good one. Trials indicate she has good talent, winning her latest trial at Warwick Farm and seemingly won with something in hand. If the favourite is off her game, this will be the pony to bet on.
5 Decisive Lass (Bet Now: $SP.00) would be hard to beat in a Provincial maiden IMO. Not sure she wins here but one I can certainly entertain for wider multiples. She debuted at Wyong where she wasn’t entirely suited on the tight track but didn’t mind the way she found the line when balanced up in the straight. Maps to get a soft run in transit and is bred to appreciate ground.
Race 3. (16:40) Tab Mdn Hcp 1400m
2 Call Di (Bet Now: $SP.00) is short enough but she has the runs on the board to resume a winner. Thought she was a real eye catcher on debut in a midweek maiden at Rosehill before going to the Reginald Allen where she was well tried at a price and I thought she was very good from near last when third to A Lot More Love. If indeed she is going to be a Stakes class horse, she’d want to be putting this field away and confident she will.
1 Associate (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Danielle Seib trained gelding that resumes. He debuted here in early December and did a ripping job in defeat. Had a good run in transit and was hailed as the winner, only to be nabbed late by Stait Acer, a horse I do have time for. Moved well in a recent Hawkesbury and this stable are absolutely flying when they bring them to town.
4 Outsider (Bet Now: $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give a bold sight I am sure. He was kept relatively safe in betting when debuting in a strong maiden at Newcastle where she lobbed outside the speed and gave a good kick under Prebble but couldn’t quite finish it off and had to settle for a narrow second to Infinitive. Potentially gets a soft run once again on speed and better for the run under the belt, she’s in with a shout.
Race 4. (17:20) Furphy (Bm72) 2400m
3 Whangaehu (Bet Now: $SP.00) seems a very one paced type so 2400m should be fine for him. He attempted to lead throughout over 1900m last time at Canterbury and for mine, J Mac rode him too cute in front. He is a one batter and not a sprint/sit type, so he was flat footed when they dashed in the straight, but past the line, he was in front, so that tells me 2400m is fine and gets Nash back on.
6 Oz Legend (Bet Now: $SP.00) ran well at 2400m last prep and he’s the one with upside, plus gets J Mac, so he has enough going for him to suggest he is a leading contender. He ran behind Irish Legend over 2000m at Rosehill last time and wasn’t too bad in defeat, but was just very one paced despite Blinkers going on. Hopefully J Mac on can see him go close.
5 Olympic Gaze (Bet Now: $SP.00) is on the quick back up for Paul Perry after breaking a long run of outs when winning at Newcastle on Saturday, finishing best in what was a proper 1850m staying contest, but I will say he beat nothing. That said, you could argue he is up against nothing here, and after a slow burn, Lewis German has found his feet and form since arriving from Victoria. A win wouldn’t shock.
Race 5. (18:00) Kia Ora Prague (Bm72) 1550m
1 Ella Te Ama (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a former Kiwi mare who has done a good job since arriving in Australia. Didn’t disgrace herself at all two back in the Belle Of The Turf at Gosford before going here two weeks ago where she got back off the speed and worked to the line strongly late in the piece behind Banana Queen. End of prep run could be on the cards, but that last start indicates she’s fine and is hard to beat.
3 Cap Estel (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness for Anthony Cummings. Just looked in need of the run fresh at Canterbury on New Years Day before going here and I thought was solid to the line after seemingly getting every chance behind Banana Queen. was 1200m to 1600m so she has that mile run under the belt, which should hold her in good stead.
7 Pink Baroque (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks like she will eat up the mile. Strong maiden win on Boxing Day at Randwick before having a mini break and going to Wyong last prep where she was a bit rusty but was good once balanced up in the straight behind The Halo, finishing third. Better for the run under the belt and I think 1550m will be okay. Leading chance.
Race 6. (18:30) Precise Air (Bm72) 1400m
5 Stroke Of Luck (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a son of Fastnet Rock for John O’Shea that resumes after a three run Spring prep, which ended with a third in the Dulcify behind Williamsburg. Couple of trials to get ready but the big lead is J Mac booked and O’Shea stated in the media this week that when he is booked to ride his runners first up, it’s a sign the horse is ready to go.
2 True Crime (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a bulldog who will be on speed and fighting hard. That was the case last time at Canterbury. He looked a beaten horse when Lancaster Bomber ambled up outside him but True Crime dug in when it counted, kicked back and was able to win. More depth here, but hard fit now and with his racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.
7 Owen County (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a three year old I do have time for so keen to see how he resumes for John Sargent. He is best suited over 1600m+ so he might need the run but he certainly has the engine under the hood to be more than competitive here and his trials haven’t been too bad for a horse wanting more ground. Look for him to get back and be strong late.
Race 7. (19:00) Blue Point First Yearl. (Bm72) 1000m
3 Narito (Bet Now: $SP.00) has had two runs back from a spell for Chris Waller, each at 1100m, and I think a fast run 1000m will suit. The latest run came two weeks ago where the track was suiting up/in as the day progressed and he tried to make ground, but couldn’t quite finish it off when third to Diamond Dealer. Tempo should be more genuine and he’ll get his chance to launch late.
2 Duchy Of Savoy (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Team Hawkes trained mare that resumes. This mare ended a pretty good Spring prep with a down the track effort on an absolute bog in the Nivison behind Sky Command. She is a mare who can sprint well fresh and I thought her trial behind Semillion was a good piece of work, so keen to see how she goes.
10 Italian Informant (Bet Now: $SP.00) is hit and miss but his best is good enough to be dangerous. He has been kept on ice since December 31 when down the track in a Midway behind Garrison, who had complete control in front and gave nothing else a look in. Not really a horse who races best on the fresh side, but he does have the talent to measure up so watch the market.
