Ten races will be run and won at Randwick on Saturday. The weather is fine, the track is soft (6) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (11:20) Atc Thank You Trainers Hcp 1100m
5 Estriella (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) on top but not really a race I want to get involved in. Maher/Eustace trained filly that debuted at Gosford over 1100m where she wasn’t entirely happy on the tight track I didn’t think but once balanced up in the straight, she dashed and was impressive in winning, with that form standing up with multiple winners coming out of it. Like her on the bigger track and with relatively fresh legs, she’ll take beating.
7 Sounds Of Heaven (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a well bred filly for Annabel Neasham that commands respect. She hasn’t raced since June 3 when a strong on speed debut winner over 900m at Newcastle where she was there to be beaten but she found under pressure and was strong to the line in winning. More depth here, clearly, but a tick over trial was sharp and maps ideally.
I am very interested in 11 Destructive Diva (Bet Now:Β $SP.00), who resumes for Norm Gardner. This filly is first up after a two run Autumn prep, winning on debut during the Black Opal Carnival at Canberra before going here in the Kindergarten when far from disgraced in defeat on testing ground behind Libertad. Resumes without a trial but maps to do no work and be effective late. I think she’s a knockout chance.
Race 2. (11:55) Midway (Bm72) 1600m
1 Dr Evil (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a proven Saturday metro horse so he commands respect in a Midway. He was far from disgraced two back at Rosehill behind Touristic before going to the Midway here two weeks back when dragged back from the wide gate and found the line well enough in defeat behind Oakfield Waratah. Think with a more positive ride, he’ll take beating against these.
9 Wealthy Investor (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a handy three year old for Damien Lane and rates highly in a race like this. Market kept him quite safe in betting when resuming during the Grafton Carnival. He had the suck run behind the speed and was there to win the race but couldn’t quite finish it off when second to Alamira. There is a slight query at the mile but he has a touch of quality and good upside to come. Just wants an economical run.
2 Dimaggio (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is working up to a win and strikes a winnable Midway. He ran two weeks ago in the Midway at this track/distance when just off the speed throughout and kept on in a pretty good effort I thought when third to the very much in form Oakfield Waratah. He has that 1600m run under the belt now, which should hold him in good stead.
Race 3. (12:30) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1200m
6 Wizard Of Oz (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Warren Gavenlock, he’s now with Danny Williams and looks to be absolutely flying. That is being said off two trials, both at Goulburn, but each time he has looked very sharp to the eye, full of running and plenty up the sleeve. Sneaky chance of being in The Kosciuszko? A first up win here and that question can be answered with more confidence in the positive corner.
2 Zaru (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an absolute beauty for Joseph Burges. Just such a model of consistency, especially at Highway level. He got a lovely ride from Zac to win the Highway a fortnight back here, slicing his way through the field and driving hard late to nab the win over a handy horse in Melody Again. He was only third up there so you’d like to think there is good room for improvement.
9 Iron Will (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and give a bold sight. He did that when resuming here two weeks back. He was met with good market support and attempted to lead throughout but first up at 1200m, condition just gave way and he couldn’t quite finish the job when fifth to Zaru. He’s got more upside than most here and with that racing style, he’ll give himself every chance.
Race 4. (13:05) Atc Thanks Stable Staff (Bm78) 1800m
11 Endorphins (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Kris Lees and confident she can measure up at Saturday metro level. She ran last Wednesday over the mile at Warwick Farm and I think had she got clear air earlier, she wins the race instead of a fast finishing close up third to Good Omens in a blanket finish. Both runs back have been at the mile and I do think up to 1800m, peak fitness just about, upside, it all points to her.
5 Mascaret (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should just about be ready to go. Chris Waller trained former French mare that hasn’t quite set the world on fire in two Australian runs, but that said, she has been far from disgraced, and I do think getting to 1800m is a big tick, as well as J Mac booked, so watch the market and see what it does.
7 One Aye (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) likely has eyes on defending her Forbes Cup title from last year and getting into The Big Dance, so how hard they try here? Not sure, but she was a late nomination, so that signals some level of intent that they think this race is winnable. She was a bit plain to start the prep but her last couple of runs have been encouraging and was good in defeat last time in the Narrandera Cup. First four player.
Race 5. (13:40) Atc Thank You Owners (Bm78) 1800m
5 Mahagoni (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is dangerous with his best. I was keen on his chances two weeks back here but he just didn’t fire. He had a suck run out the back and I thought was going to present in the straight and launch, but he just whacked to the line and was a bit on the plain side I thought behind Special Envoy. I think with that 1800m run under the belt now, I am giving him another look.
1 Special Envoy (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) commands respect for GaiBott. He has had two runs down under since arriving from the UK, not really firing first up behind Touristic before going here a fortnight back when just behind the speed before Hippo found clear air and in a driving finish, he was able to prove strongest on the line. Good upside to come, stable flying, he is a key chance.
9 Tip Of The Spear (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is an Annabel Neasham trained import that resumes. This guy teased to be a nice horse when last in work but couldn’t quite put it together. He has come back and off two trials, I think he has returned in pretty good order. Tricky draw to overcome but first up at 1800m tells me intent.
Race 6. (14:15) Marcellin College (Bm72) 1300m
6 Nosey Parker (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) keeps sucking me in and at likely decent odds, I’ll be having a throw at the stumps at him again. He ran last Saturday in the Midway when well tried at odds but things didn’t go to plan for him and he should have finished much closer behind Soami, who had all the momentum out wide. Maps to settle near the speed and with clear air, I think he has the engine to measure up and be strong late.
8 Gently Rolled (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Bryce Heys and deserves a crack at a Midway. She has won her past two, both at Newcastle. Two back she was impressive over 1200m before repeating the dose over 1400m, settling just off the speed before angling into clear air and letting down with purpose to win nicely. Harder here, clearly, but the way she is racing, she has to be given a crack and a look as a serious chance.
11 VenelopeΒ (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is a key threat. She was backed with confidence when resuming on the Kenso but given the pattern of up/in, she wasn’t really a threat, but I did like the way she finished her race off against the pattern when third to Sweysive. Form out of that race has been franked, the track should play more fairly here and she’ll be strong late.
Race 7. (14:50) Godolphin Lifetime Care (Bm72) 1100m
4 Mogo Magic.. (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) beware the unbeaten horse. A win here and he all but secures himself a slot in The Kosciuszko. He has been kept on ice, four weeks between runs since a strong all the way win in a Highway at Rosehill over 1100m where he copped heat on speed but he kicked, found, and was strong to the line in winning. Good test here, but confident he measures up.
10 TintookieΒ (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look. I was very keen on her when she ran here two weeks ago but after receiving every chance, she failed to finish the race off and on face value, she was quite plain but she didn’t pull up 100% post race so she had a clear excuse. Off the runs prior, that is good enough to measure up here.
2 Authentic JewelΒ (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Brad Widdup since attempting to lead throughout over this track/distance and credit to her, she did give a very strong kick but couldn’t quite see it through and was nabbed late by Miss Jay Fox. I reckon with a bunny to chase, she’ll be more effective, and she gets in well after the claim.
Race 8. (15:30) Kanebridge (Bm88) 1100m
3 Deepour (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to rate as the one to beat for Adam Campton. He ran in the Ramornie at Grafton and given the way the track played, he was no hope, so given the pattern, his effort to finish as close as he did was absolutely enormous when fourth to The Big Goodbye. Bigger track, fair track, he’ll get his chance to get to the outside, clear air and launch over the top.
4 Insurrection (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is flying for Michael Freedman and has to rate as one of the hardest to beat. He has been excellent this time in, winning two on the bounce, both over 1100m at Randwick. Latest of those wins came three weeks ago where he was given a lovely on speed steer from Zac Lloyd and in a driving finish, he was able to get the job done. Not sure what upside is left but he only has to hold his form to be around the mark.
8 Kir Royale (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has to be given another look. She was kept quite safe in betting when resuming a few weeks back at Randwick but she didn’t really fire. She had the suck run out the back and presented to win but didn’t let down at all in the straight when finishing down the track behind Miss Jay Fox. Good second up record, not penning her.
Race 9. (16:10) Nswroa Trophy (Bm88) 1600m
9 Bazooka (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) should love the rise to 1600m and is very hard to beat against these. David Payne trained gelding that ran over 1500m at Rosehill a few weeks ago, his first run in three weeks, back in trip, and I thought he kept finding the line in a strong effort behind Attractable. Fitter and up to 1600m, upside to come, I think it’ll take a good one to get past him.
11 Tazaral (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) has come back a bigger and better horse, so he clearly rates highly against these. He was kept quite safe in betting when resuming here two weeks ago and #They knew he was there to rock and roll, giving them a start and a beating in such a sharp return to the track. Fitter, up to 2000m, enormous upside to come…he has to rate as the one to beat.
5 Casino Kid (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is on the seven day back up for Joe Pride after having his first run for the stable last Saturday at Rosehill when back near last in the run and on a day where up/in was dynamite, he was never a factor, running last behind Kalino. Much better set up this time around and Joe Pride horses on the back up usually have to be respected.
Race 10. (16:50) Gow-Gates Insurance (Bm78) 1300m
5 Bella Rouge (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) comes back to her home track and I think is dangerous for Chris Waller. She resumed in a solid 88 three weeks back at Randwick but was never a factor in a pretty plain return behind Wewillrock. She is a previous second up winner and back to 78 grade, with runs on the board from last prep, she’s in the mix.
1 Excelladus (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for David Pfieffer since racing over 1400m here. He was just off the speed throughout and tried his guts out but couldn’t quite get there when a close up fourth to a handy one in Battleton. I reckon the end of 1400m at this level sees him out so like him back to 1300m and with hard fitness, he appeals.
6 Cruel Summer (Bet Now:Β $SP.00) is one I can entertain for wider multiples. He ran in the Battleton race from three weeks back here when ridden with intent to sit near the speed and stuck to the task really well when beaten just under a length by the Bjorn Baker trained four year old. He’d love this track to be heavy but even on a dry deck, I think he’s in with a shout.
