Nine races will be run and won at Ascot on Saturday for Scenic Blast Stakes Day. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (17:28) SEACORP PLATE 1000m
6 My Baby Blue Jean (Bet Now: $2.80) looks well above average and confident she can successfully measure up here. It was a stunning maiden win at Pinjarra last time out, leading all the way, eased down the final 100m yet still ran fast overall time. She looks potentially blacktype quality so I’m keen on her despite coming back to 1000m.
2 Beads (Bet Now: $2.40) will love getting back to 1000m I feel. He has been racing really well this time in but last start well and truly proved that 1200m is a bridge too far. That, and he’s not at the level of Trix Of The Trade. So back to 1000m is a big tick for him, he maps super from the draw and should be around the mark.
5 MIchelada (Bet Now: $21.00) is a daughter of Nicconi for Simon Miller that resumes. Hasn’t raced since the early part of the Spring when down the track in a 3YO race at Belmont, where she was on trial for a Carnival prep but the stable spelled instead. Looks to have trialled well at Belmont and should get a suck run from the inside gate.
Race 2. (18:05) TABTOUCH WESTSPEED HCP 1000m
I think the booking of Chris Parnham might well be a lead that 2 Alien From Mars (Bet Now: $5.00) is ready to go. Resumes for Bob Turrell, having not raced since September 27 when an impressive winner over 1000m at Northam running very good late splits. Resumes without a trial but the jockey booking tells me she’s ready to go.
1 Express Time (Bet Now: $2.80) is getting right up in the weights now but gee she’s genuine. Loved the way she dug in to win over 1200m here last time. Led and was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure to get the win. Back to 1000m no issue, hard fit now and in form.
4 Halatorian (Bet Now: $5.50) is looking to make it three on the bounce for Roy Rogers and will be interesting to see if he can measure up in town. Too good for them two back at Pinjarra before going to Albany where he was given a peach by Rawiller and finished best in a driving go. If he can overcome a tricky gate, I think he measures up.
Race 3. (18:40) MAGIC MILLIONS PLATE 1000m
Tricky juvenile race to start the meeting but I am leaning towards 1 Galaxy Affair (Bet Now: $4.20) with the winning race experience under the belt. Strong win here two weeks ago when wide with cover before peeling wider into clear and coming with a well timed run to nail them late. He will be strong at the end and overall, I don’t think this a strong juvenile race.
4 Hang Glider (Bet Now: $3.80) is a son of Flying Artie on debut for Steve Wolfe. He trialled on his home track at Albany over 1000m where he didn’t exactly smash the clock but looked to go about his business nicely in winning. Early market support suggests he has ability but last 10-15 minutes of betting will be the guide.
7 Spiritson (Bet Now: $16.00) is a first starter here and I think can be dangerous. He has had two trials to prepare for his first day at the races, winning a 1000m trial last Monday at Belmont where he ran okay time relative to the morning. Unfashionable jockey/trainer combo so you should get a decent price and run well on debut.
Race 4. (19:20) KAREN HAYNES 50TH BIRTHDAY HCP 1400M
3 Trade War (Bet Now: $2.60) looks well placed here. Michael Lane trained gelding that ran over 1500m here two weeks ago. He got back to near last in the run but finished off hard late when a narrow second to the very much in form Cheval De Vega. Back to 1400m should be fine, Parnham sticks and finds a winnable race.
1 Kendel’s Mee Dad (Bet Now: $8.00) commands respect for Roy Rogers. Three weeks between runs since racing over 1200m here when back in the run and closing his race nicely when a close up fourth to Burnya To Survive, who won on Monday, so the form does read well and 1400m should be fine.
4 Dipara (Bet Now: $19.00) is a hard horse to catch but his best is capable of measuring up. Lovely ride from Whiting saw him win at Belmont last time, getting decent cover and launching late to finish over the top. He has a fab track/distance record and now he’s in winning form, he’s in with a shout.
Race 5. (19:53) HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY MARGIE HCP 1600M
6 Crescent City (Bet Now: $9.50) is hit and miss but his best is certainly capable of measuring up here. Ran over 1500m here two weeks ago. He got a mile out of his ground but tracked up nicely and was good late when third to a progressive mare, Fashion Queen. Up to the mile, in form now…hopefully can hold it.
9 Deputano (Bet Now: $9.00) looks to be in for a good prep. Four weeks between runs since resuming at this track/distance where he was one of the real eye catchers of the meeting from near last behind Bogart. Four weeks between runs…does that mean he’s had a setback and this is a prep run for a 2000m race? Market will be the guide.
3 Allez Allez (Bet Now: $27.00) should be suited up to the mile. He resumed over 1300m at Pinjarra and was okay late despite being under pressure a fair way out. He is a proven metro performer at this trip and has a good second up record, so an improved showing is on the cards.
Race 6. (20:26) BELHUS RACING STABLES HCP 1600M
Back to the mile, I do like 6 Chili is Hot (Bet Now: $6.00) a lot. Her last couple of runs have come over 1800m here, the latest being two weeks ago where she was there to win but just missed in a tight go when a narrow second to Bogart. Back to the mile from gate one, she’ll take a power of beating.
8 Cheval De Vega (Bet Now: $1.85) has been one of the real finds in recent months in WA racing. 4/4 this time in, all coming at metro level, which isn’t an easy thing to do. Latest win was two weeks ago over 1500m here where he was super from on speed. Trade War was there to beat him but he found under pressure and clung on. The query is the mile but hard to knock the way he’s racing.
1 Friaresque (Bet Now: $26.00) should appreciate a truly run mile here. Ran over this track/distance three weeks back where he was near a moderate speed. The sit/sprint set up didn’t suit him but he was still good in defeat when second to Bruce Almighty. Like him sitting off a good speed and is a knockout chance.
Race 7. (21:00) AMELIA PARK HCP 1000M
10 Pink Carats (Bet Now: $7.00) on top in what looks a pretty solid five furlong contest. Simon Miller trained gelding that ran over this track/distance two weeks ago where he was smashed in betting and under a peach from Carbery, he got clear late and finished best to win impressively. Good test for him here, but looks to be a stack of speed engaged and should be strong at the end.
1 Acromantula (Bet Now: $4.20) is creeping up in the weights but he’s a 1000m horse and they best suit 1000m races. Copped serious heat on speed here last time out and was entitled to knock up but he found under pressure, fended them off and was too good. If he can get the front without spending too many petrol tickets, he becomes the one to beat.
Back to 1000m is a big tick for 2 Brooklyn Pier (Bet Now: $6.00). Ran over 1200m here two weeks back where he seemed to get every chance behind the speed. He loomed to win but six furlongs are just a bridge too far for him. Back to 1000m and sitting off a good speed, he’s in with a shout.
Race 8. (21:30) SCENIC BLAST STAKES 1200M
10 Iseered Iseered (Bet Now: $8.50) looks hard to beat here for Luke Fernie. He ran in the Miss Andretti two weeks ago where he was off the speed, a good speed. CJP presented him to win and he was hailed as the winner but had no answers for the brilliant finale of Miss Conteki. Maps super from the draw and for mine, only runs well.
2 Amasenus (Bet Now: $18.00) is a quality mare for Simon Miller that resumes. This girl hasn’t raced since July 24 when sprouting wings late to win the HG Bolton Sprint. Dodged the Carnival but looks to have trialled up really well in readiness for her return, so keen to see how she goes.
13 Kenyluck (Bet Now: $23.00) has been an absolute revelation this time in for Allan Hughes. His rise to being a quality sprinter was confirmed when winning the Batavia Sprint at Geraldton, leading throughout and finding plenty under pressure. This is his acid test, but hard to knock him given his record.
Race 9. (22:00) CROWN PERTH HCP 1200M
If he gets luck from the gate, I like 5 Keep Your Feet (Bet Now: $8.00) here. Resumed at this track/distance two weeks ago and worked home strongly from off the speed behind Express Time in a good effort. If the inside gate is used to advantage, I think he’ll take a power of beating here.
6 Mr Causeway (Bet Now: $7.00) has done a super job this time in for Roy Rogers. He has won two on the bounce, both at Albany. Won over this trip two back before coming back to 1100m and despite getting a bit keen in the run, he finished best under Pike, who remains on here. Key threat.
I doubt 10 Klondike Kenny (Bet Now: $34.00) wins but he can sneak a first four spot. Ran over 1000m here two weeks back where he was never really a winning threat given the start he conceded but was good late behind Pink Carats. Saves his best for 1200m, so he gets a tick there, and I think that Pink Carats form is strong.
