The Melbourne Autumn Carnival wraps up this Saturday at Flemington, headlined by the Australian Cup (2000m). The weather forecast is for showers, the track is soft (7) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Keen to be with 6 Eagle Express (Bet Now:  $SP.00). I was keen on her running well in the Wenona Girl but unfortunately she got stuck wide no cover and the hard run just told late, but I thought she was far from disgraced. Better run in transit, I think she’ll only run well.

3 Gentle Steel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a pretty impressive winner of the Mystic Journey at Caulfield, leading throughout and yes, she had front end control, but she was in the inferior ground yet was still dominant in the run to the line. Hard to knock the way she’s racing at present.

4 She’s Got Pizzazz (Bet Now:  $SP.00) ran midfield behind Gentle Steel at Caulfield. Race shape was against and she just lacked the change up speed when asked but stayed on and was far from disgraced. She’ll be strong late, just depends what sort of race shape she gets in front of her.

15 No No Yes (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to Melbourne for Price/Kent after a maiden win at Newcastle when giving them a start and a beating. Handles wet ground it appears, has upside and should be strong late.

11 Exit (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the Kewney from a few weeks back at Flemington. She seemed to get a decent run in transit and was there to threaten but just whacked in the run to the line and the winner, Sass Appeal, could be a rocket. Salty Pearl franked the form a week later and with the mile run under the belt, I think Exit is in the mix.

6 Wise Inlaw (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key chance. Total forgive at Sandown I thought last start, sitting wide no cover throughout and kept chasing in a really good effort in defeat. Maps much better this time around, a knockout hope.

1 Gin Twist (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 1200m after a dominant win down the straight where she led throughout and was impressive. Good racing style, she’ll be around the mark against these.

4 Jadzia (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs since debuting in the Ottawa here. She got off speed and while she was never threatening and beating Medicinal, I did like the way she closed off. Fitter, 1200m, she clearly appeals against these.

7 Firm’N’High (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks the pick of the first starters. She has had a couple of jumpouts for Moody/Coleman and each time has looked strong. Might want further and the experience, but wouldn’t shock me if she ran well.

13 Actuality (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks ready to rock and roll for Moody/Coleman. Handy mare that is first up off a couple of jumpouts at Pakenham, the latest seeing her win and I loved the way she moved late when clicked up. Looks prepped up for her return, I think she’s a good gamble.

7 Castellar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been freshened up since Feb 21 when on speed at Caulfield, copped heat but stuck on really well. Tick over jumpout was solid, he’s a key chance.

5 Fission (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with his best. He ran down the straight a few weeks ago when off speed and made up some headway in a blanket finish, taken out by Dirty Grin. If he’s within range, he’s got the finale to be dangerous.

12 Jareth (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 2000m after a win over the mile at Pakenham last time where he gave them a start and a beating to win narrowly but impressively. Good test here, but gets in really well after the claim and has good upside to come.

15 Pantile Warrior (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will either handle the wet ground or he won’t. He hasn’t been too bad in two runs back from overseas and with a good racing style, commands respect despite the wet track query.

16 Politely Dun (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since racing over this trip at Flemington where he ran his usual honest race and tried hard but just couldn’t quite get there behind Ambassadorial. Knocking on the door and I say commands respect.

10 Educated (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is an absolute rocket for Ciaron Maher. 2/2 to begin the career and then made it three with a dominant display down the straight at Flemington a few weeks ago, ridden with a sit and she was just as dynamic when leading. Group l horse of the future IMO so quite keen on her chances here.

2 Legacy Bound (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was an impressive first up track/distance winner. He found a relatively weak race vs this and was strong late, getting better as the race went on. Good upside/improvement, likes the straight course, a key chance.

1 Tycoon Star (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team Hayes trained colt that resumes. He hasn’t raced since the Coolmore Stud when held but far from disgraced in defeat behind Tentyris. Looks to have jumped out well for the return, watch betting.

13 Litzdeel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat. She ran three weeks ago in the Australian Cup Prelude and while she was never a winning threat, she kept chasing and was quite good in defeat behind Arcora. Like the rise in trip for her, has upside and that sense of timing.

3 Whisky On The Hill (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing just fair at present but he does thrive when getting his toe in. Far from disgraced last time but with a wet track on the cards, he can run an improved race.

8 Steel Run (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a well backed odds on chance in the Torney Night Cup last start and he gave a decent sight from just off speed but overall, had his chance I thought behind surprise winner Bright Legend. Hard fit, has the hard runs under his belt to be in the mix.

6 Sabaj (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is going to take serious beating here for Price/Kent. I thought he was outstanding in the All Star Mile. First real look at the big boys and girls, and I thought he went very well, closing with real purpose behind Tom Kitten. Like him up to 2000m and confident he can measure up and only run well.

5 Birdman (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one of the hardest to beat for Chris Waller after his Peter Young triumph. He was arrogant the way he went about things and backed up what he did in the Blamey. He has come back a much better horse and is one of the hardest to beat.

10 Leica Lucy (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will love getting to 2000m. She comes through the All Star Mile where she wanted to lay in under pressure but liked the way she kept finding the line in defeat behind Tom Kitten. Getting towards peak fitness and rising in trip, only runs well.

8 Celerity (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to 1000m after an arrogant win over 1100m on Adelaide Cup Day. She was trucking in the run under Jamie Melham before being clicked up and away she went to win and win well, albeit it was a very weak Stakes race. But, she’s in form and back to 1000m is fine, and is proven down the straight.

2 Way To The Stars (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has been given a mini freshen up since the Oakleigh Plate where he did far too much work on speed and tried hard but just felt the pinch at the end. Back to 1000m I like, he’ll jump and run, proving hard to get past.

6 Corniche (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in the mix after his effort at Caulfield when never threatening but he kept chasing and was far from disgraced. Better suited here I feel, he’s dangerous.

19 Al Duca (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was ridden with intent when resuming a fortnight back at Caulfield over 1400m. He landed in a decent spot on speed and was there to win but just lacked the quality to go with them late behind Harry’s Yacht. That said, he was far from disgraced and appeals up to the mile.

14 Chief Little Rock (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Former Irish galloper that makes his Australian debut for Team Freedman, I dare say here with an eye towards the Spring. His last run was the King George VII at Royal Ascot in 2024 when down the track behind Calandagan, a world class horse. Given a good break and his jumoout work, notably his latest one, was very good. Drawn wide, but with a positive wide, he’ll only run well.

4 Land Legend (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very interesting runner. Formerly with Chris Waller, he now finds himself with Ciaron Maher and I will say, he looks to have jumped out really well, so watch betting.
