Race 1. (12:10) Sportsbet Fixed Odds Exotics (Bm70) 1400m
2 Gold Medallist (Bet Now: $SP.00) is unbeaten in three starts for Moody/Coleman so keen to see how she goes. Latest win was last Wednesday at Bendigo when getting the suck run in behind the speed before angling clear and she made a mess of them in an impressive display. Confident she measures up.
3 Hazel Baby (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs for Ciaron Maher since racing over this trip at Caulfield where she was held but far from disgraced in defeat behind On Dislay. That form reads very well for this so keen to see how she goes.
6 I Only Wish (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Robbie Griffiths trained mare that resumes. This girl is first up, having not raced since June 7 over 2000m at Flemington when just off speed and battled late in the piece behind Shockletz. Better suited over further but should sprint well fresh.
Race 2. (12:45) Ive > (Bm78) 1800m
8 Makdane (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a very genuine animal for Mick Kent and was a strong winner from a few weeks back, driving hard late to finish best and get the job done. Hard to knock the way he’s racing and commands respect.
6 Rise To It (Bet Now: $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. That winning form came over 2040m at The Valley where he really dug in when required, finding under pressure to score. Good racing style, he’ll be around the mark.
4 Alma Rise (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Moody/Coleman trained mare that resumes. She hasn’t raced since June 1 when placing in the Sandown Cup over two miles behind Diwali. Clearly is better suited over further but fresh at 1800m tells me she’s fit and can run a positive race fresh.
Race 3. (13:20) Sportsbet Feed Hcp 1000m
1 Shining Smile (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes through the Poseidon from two weeks ago at Flemington. He tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite see it through, tiring late behind Legacy Bound. He looks much better suited at this level and the big tick is gettng back to 1000m.
4 Aleppo Pine (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be better for the first up run, which came a few weeks back at The Valley when leading and gave a decent kick from the front but just felt the pinch late behind Space Rider. Better for the run, better set up here, his best is good enough to be a threat.
10 Olatunde (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes to town after two runs on the Ballarat Synthetic when a sharp fresh winner before being very plain last start as a deep odds on favourite. Maps ideally here in the small field and is suited to the short course.
Race 4. (13:55) Evergreen Turf (Bm84) 1400m
Keen to be with 1 King Zephyr (Bet Now: $SP.00). He resumed a few weeks ago over 1200m at The Valley where he just didn’t handle the tight track at all but was good late once balanced up. Fitter and up to 1400m, bigger track, needs to win to be any chance in the Toorak…keen.
7 Justadeel (Bet Now: $SP.00) comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Aug 20 over 1400m on the Lakeside. He gave them a start and a beating, producing sharp change up speed to win and win well. Maps ideally, he’ll be strong late…a threat.
4 So Risque (Bet Now: $SP.00) is four weeks between runs since resuming at Caulfield when far from disgraced in defeat behind Keep Your Cool. He has fresh legs and with a positive ride, he can threaten at a likely decent price.
Race 5. (14:30) Sportsbet Blackbook Hcp 1400m
2 Fermoy (Bet Now: $SP.00) stayed out of trouble in the Up And Coming a few weeks back, sitting out wide and finished hard, just missing out on the win when second to Grand Prairie. Better for the run, extra 100m, he’s one of the leading contenders.
3 Bacash (Bet Now: $SP.00) steps up to 1400m after racing over 1200m in the McKenzie at The Valley when leading and tried hard but had no answers late for impressive winner Rosberg. 1400m is the query but with front end control, he takes running down.
5 Fastoso (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a Greg Eurell trained gelding that broke the maiden tag two back at Bendigo and was impressive in doing so. He then went to the Exford at Flemington when held but far from disgraced behind Vinrock. Form was franked last night in the Stutt so he appeals against these.
Race 6. (15:05) Thousand Guineas Prelude 1400m
8 Custom (Bet Now: $SP.00) will love getting to 1400m I feel. She ran a few weeks ago in the Atlantic Jewel when back in the run and was forced wide on the turn but picked up and was quite good late in the piece behind Alpha Sofie. Like her up in trip and hard fit, she’s one of the hardest to beat.
5 Ole Dancer (Bet Now: $SP.00) looks a leading chance. She ran in the Atlantic Jewel where she was pretty much there for a barrier trial, getting back to near last and made up good headway but was never threatening. Better set up here, she will take holding out.
1 Ferivia (Bet Now: $SP.00) should be fine at 1400m and is much better suited at Sandown I feel vs The Valley. She ran a few weeks back in the Atlantic Jewel where she was back in the run and made up decent headway without threatening in a good effort in defeat. Off her Quezette triumph, she can threaten.
Race 7. (15:45) Sandown Stakes 1500m
1 Evaporate (Bet Now: $SP.00) has been given a mini freshen up for Team Hayes since resuming in the PB Lawrence where he wasn’t the cleanest to jump and that pretty much sealed his fate behind Private Eye. Has eyes on the Toorak/Golden Eagle you’d assume so it’s go time here.
13 Athanatos (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a key threat. He did more than enough when resuming at Caulfield before going to Flemington when thrown in the deep end and I thought he didn’t disgrace himself in defeat. Hard fit now being third up and he does have a touch of class on his side.
9 Sav On Ice (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a beauty and is in this race with a shout. He overcame the pattern to win the Balaklava Cup last start, following a few weeks freshen up and was impressive in scoring. Good test here, but I am not dismissing him.
Race 8. (16:25) Quayclean Hcp 1800m
2 Globe (Bet Now: $SP.00) is third up from a break and should just about be at peak fitness. He did more than enough when resuming at The Valley before going to Flemington when on speed and was hailed as the winner but was nabbed late by stablemate Golden Path, who ran out of his skin in the Underwood, so that form is A1.
15 Ziryab (Bet Now: $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 1800 after resuming over 1700m at Flemington where he was a real eye catcher from the back, closing with purpose late behind Golden Path. He’ll run a beauty here I suspect.
13 Cadmus (Bet Now: $SP.00) is a first four threat. He ran two weeks back behind Golden Path where he got back to near last in the run and was never a winning threat, but didn’t mind his finale in defeat. Maps to settle much closer in the run and be effective late.
