SA metro racing this Saturday heads to Murray Bridge for a nine race card. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out three metres from the 1600m-900m; True for the remainder.
Race 1. (13:06) Beston Pure Foods Mdn Plate 1000m
10 Divenire (Bet Now: $7.00) looks to have her share of talent. Debuted last Wednesday at Strathalbyn where she was back off the speed before presenting wider and she chased strongly. Just no match for Starspangled Saga, who led throughout and was impressive, but good sign is that there was a big gap to third. Leading chance.
17 Yulong Hero (Bet Now: $7.00) is a very interesting runner. Former NSW galloper that is now with Will Clarken, and we saw last Saturday with Ironclad as another example of how good this stable is with tried horses. His trials leading in haven’t been too bad so watch the market and see what it does.
14 Turfitt (Bet Now: $17.00) is a Gordon Richards trained filly that should improve on her debut, which was a few weeks ago at Morphettville when back in a slowly run race so she didn’t have much hope given where she was, but was good in defeat behind Daily Spirit. Should get decent three/four wide cover and launch late.
Race 2. (13:41) Wicks Estate Wines Hcp 1400m
Fitter and up to 1400m I do like for 3 Another Award (Bet Now: $2.50). Ran over 1250m on the Parks track two weeks ago where she had a suck run behind the speed and angled into clear air to look the winner for a few strides. Just couldn’t quite run down River Twain. Hard fit now, up in trip, she appeals.
No idea what to do with 1 Crown Mint (Bet Now: $3.30). I was all over him when he resumed on the Parks track a fortnight back but gee I was disappointed with his effort. He failed to fire a shot and seemingly had no excuses to my eye. Is he overhyped/overrated? Think this race will be the deciding factor.
5 Biarchi (Bet Now: $17.00) is a quality filly for David Jolly that is first up and kicking off a likely SA Oaks prep. Hasn’t raced since contesting the Oaks at Flemington where she was near a very strong tempo and couldn’t match it with the better fillies. 1400m fresh I like, suggesting she’s here to run well despite her GF being several weeks away.
Race 3. (14:16) Spry Civil Construction (bm86) 1200m
2 Blow Torch (Bet Now: $6.50) might need one more run but the McEvoy camp at Murray Bridge is usually an ATM. They are just so hard to beat when they bring their runners here, and his effort first up over an unsuitable trip behind Ididitforlove was a definite pass mark. If he’s within range 400m out, he’s good enough.
1 Tequila Time (Bet Now: $4.80) is racing well without winning for the Macdonald/Gluyas camp. Ran over 1100m a few weeks ago at Morphettville where he was there to win and for a few strides did look the winner, but was nabbed late by Ididitforlove, who is flying for Patrick Payne, so think that form reads well for this.
6 Oh Mo (Bet Now: $9.00) deserves another chance. He resumed in the Ididitforlove race from three weeks back at Morphettville. He seemed to be in a decent enough spot just behind the speed and tried hard. Just couldn’t quite finish it off, perhaps in need of the run. His best is certainly good enough.
Race 4. (14:56) Adelaide Event Catering (bm62) 1200m
Really good race this for the three year olds. I just can’t get away from the change up speed 2 Great Diviner (Bet Now: $3.20) produced to win on debut two weeks ago on the Parks track. Yes, he was cuddled and held up until the final 100m, but the way he savaged the line when clear, to my eye, is that of a really good horse, so keen to see how he goes and whether or not he can be a contender for the upcoming Carnival.
Long way to go, but 1 Outlaws Revenge (Bet Now: $2.25) could be a sneaky Goodwood chance. I’ve been really taken by his last two starts, both resulting in dominant wins with help from sharp change up speed. Latest win was at this track/distance back in January. Kept on ice for the Carnival, and think he’s well above average.
3 Bottom Line (Bet Now: $9.50) is a son of Unencumbered for Phillip Stokes that resumes. This three year old hasn’t raced since October 24 on the Parks track when third in what looked a moderate 0MW race won by Renegade and the form out of it since has been plain. But, he was in his first prep and has trialled well to get ready.
Race 5. (15:36) Total Workforce Solutions-bm82 1400m
When in doubt, go with Team McEvoy so I’m with 5 Renegade (Bet Now: $3.10). Has been kept on ice since winning in strong fashion at this track/distance, albeit the form out of it since has been below average. But, the stable has a fab record at this track and his tick over trial win indicates he’s ready to go.
A rise in trip should suit the Michael Hickmott trained 2 Sky Punch (Bet Now: $4.40). Ran over 1300m a fortnight back on the Parks track when on speed and trying hard. Just couldn’t quite finish it off when a close up fourth to Hankstar. He’ll take good improvement from that and is 1/1 on his home track here.
9 Jackthegiantslayer (Bet Now: $31.00) is an interesting runner. It’s one year to the day since he last raced. Raced at this corresponding meeting last year when running a closing fourth after getting a fair way back. No public trials or jumpouts to get ready, so will be interesting to see how he goes off a long break.
Race 6. (16:16) Magic Millions Sa 2yo Classic 1200m
Keen on 4 Scorched Earth (Bet Now: $2.50). This filly resumed in the Prelude when showing good early toe to lead them up and she fought on pretty well in defeat behind Arcaded. Reckon she will be a better filly if she has a bunny to chase, so think she’ll be hard to beat if that eventuates here.
9 Lady Of Honour (Bet Now: $4.40) is a Hayes/Dabernig filly that is on debut. Has had a couple of jumpouts at Flemington to get ready for start one and has looked solid enough each time she has stepped out. Tricky gate to overcome, but always have to respect the stable when they bring them over.
5 Hanabi (Bet Now: $7.00) looks to have her share of talent. This girl debuted two weeks ago where she was near the speed throughout and battled on strongly. Just no answers late for Knightstown. 1200m is the query with her, but from the gate, she gets a suck run and every chance to run the trip out.
Race 7. (16:56) The Ian Marwood Race (bm60) 1200m
Want to give 2 Dawn Salute (Bet Now: $8.50) another chance. He resumed last Friday on the Parks track and on face value, thought he was plain behind Fabulous Flipper after getting a suck run off the speed. He does save his best for Murray Bridge so fitter and back on a more ideal track, he can bounce back.
11 Morty (Bet Now: $11.00) is a very interesting runner. Shayne Cahill trained gelding that has had two career outings. Down the track on debut in a red hot maiden by subsequent Stakes performer Deep Speed. Spelled and resumed in a Bordertown maiden when backed as if he was Winx and visually, wasn’t as impressive as the mare, but he was still dominant. Keen to see how he goes at metro level.
15 Our Sustar (Bet Now: $8.00) deserves another chance. Was with her when she resumed on the Parks track but I think just forget she went around. She was back near last in the run and did make up ground, but was never a factor and couldn’t get into the race. Had trialled well prior, so giving her another look.
Race 8. (17:31) Riverscape Food & Wine (bm78) 2500m
Last chance territory for 4 Tibetan (Bet Now: $2.60). Like most, was keen on him two weeks ago on the Parks track at Morphettville and yes, had to chase a tearaway leader in The Red Sea, but I thought he was entitled to finish off his race better when second to the Grant Young tough nut. If he can’t win here, on his home track, then he’s in trouble.
7 Ourkhani (Bet Now: $5.50) is knocking on the door to win one for the Jolly camp. He comes through The Red Sea race from the Parks track. He had every chance to win but battled on pretty well for third, with a big gap to fourth, so think he’s racing well and was only third up there, so there should be improvement to come.
9 Flow Meter (Bet Now: $27.00) is an absolute beauty for John Hickmott. Grand campaigner that is 11 years of age but still maintains a zest for racing. Looked ordinary last Saturday in the Lord Reims but to be fair, everything behind Tralee Rose looked ordinary. Much better suited at this level and is one for exotics.
Race 9. (18:10) Racing Rewards Sa (rs1mw) 1800m
8 Good Girl Bella (Bet Now: $4.20) is in a real purple patch at the moment for Jeff Searle, winning three on the bounce. Two back, gave them a spanking at Murray Bridge before racing at Morphettville, lapping up the wet track and she was impressive again. Hard to ignore the way she’s going at the moment.
4 Black Syrah (Bet Now: $7.50) is on the quick back up for Belinda O’Loguhlin after racing at Morphettville last Saturday. That was his first run in three weeks and he worked home well without threatening behind impressive winner Lord Vladivostok. His run here three back behind Hankstar was a beauty and off that, is hard to beat.
Back up in trip I do like for 13 Getouttheway (Bet Now: $61.00). He was 1700m back to the mile when racing three weeks ago at Morphettville when back near last in the run and did make up ground without being a winning threat behind the very much in form Good Girl Bella. Back up in trip, he can threaten.
