26/4/2025 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Morphettville, Robert Sangster Stakes day

Group l racing returns to Morphettville this Saturday with the Robert Sangster Stakes (1200m) and Australasian Oaks (2000m) attracting a quality field. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

3 Chicago Storm (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was a strong all the way winner in this race last year and I think he’s on track to repeat the dose. He resumed in the Matrice a few weeks ago where he found them 1200m too sharp but was okay late in the piece behind Aviatress. The rise to 1600m is ideal and with better luck in transit, he takes a power of beating.

7 Regal Azmon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well for Phillip Stokes and is one of the key chances for mine. He ran over 1400m at Caulfield three weeks ago when back near last in the run and worked home with real purpose late in the piece behind Rhinceros. He has won at The Valley previously and with a more positive ride, think he’ll measure up.

8 Bamyan Buddha (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a knockout hope. He ran in the City Of Adelaide two weeks back where he got off speed and kept chasing but was never really threatening behind Hellsing. Not sure I could back him to win, but is a must for exotics.

Hard to get away from 3 Petit Artiste (Bet Now:  $SP.00), a Team Yargi trained filly that spanked them two weeks ago in the Without Fear, appreciating a fast speed and rounded them up with ease to win impressively. Off that, 1200m is no issue…I doubt she’ll win as arrogantly as Growing Empire did in this race last year but she should be winning.

1 Legacy Bound (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks a juvenile with talent. Robbie Griffiths trains this gelding, that debuted over 1200m at Ballarat where he didn’t beat much but the manner in which he put them away was very impressive. Good test here at Stakes grade, but he looks a likely type.

7 Oakley Miss (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can entertain for exotics. She ran third to Petit Artiste two weeks back in the Without Fear where she was on debut and was far from disgraced in defeat. The rise to 1200m should be fine…doubt she wins but she can run first four.

3 Sans Doute (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a mare I am really keen on. She ran down the straight at Flemington last time and was one of the runs of the day in defeat against the pattern behind Joyful Fortune. She should have won this race last year and looks perfectly placed to go one better.

6 Watchme Win (Bet Now:  $SP.00) was thrown in the deep end two weeks back in the Irwin and while he was held on the line by Asfoora, he didn’t disgrace himself in defeat at all, beaten just under two lengths in his first look at the big boys. Off that, I think he can measure up here.

5 Karacasu (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is one I can be entertained for exotics. He ran a few weeks back in the Matrice when just off the speed and he tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when fourth, but was far from disgraced. One for exotics.

4 Saint Emilion (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should appreciate getting to 2000m for Ciaron Maher after racing in the Carbine Club a few weeks back. The race shape wasn’t to his liking at all and he was never really a factor behind impressive winner and quality galloper Evaporate. Fitter and up in trip, he’s a definite improver.

3 Opening Address (Bet Now:  $SP.00) can run an improved race for Liam Howley after finishing down the track in the Alister Clark where he just looked not happy at all on the shifty track so forgive and forget the run. 2000m is okay and his best is clearly good enough.

9 Darknconfidential (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a threat. He won over the mile two back before going to the Port Adelaide Guineas where he got off speed and while he was never a winning threat, he did make up good ground in defeat behind Snoopy Now. 2000m is fine, he’s a winning chance.

5 Gallant Son (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat for me. He ran two weeks ago in the Redelva when a fair way off the speed but looked to be trucking before angling into clear air and drove hard late when a narrow second to Reserve Bank. Racing like 1200m suits and should be hard fit.

2 Reserve Bank (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has class on his side and that class will take him a long way. He won the Redelva a fortnight back, getting the right run in transit and his class kicked in late when challenged to fend them off and win. Confidence is up, he can go on with it.

12 Kuroyanagi (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a threat for sure. She resumed in the Redelva where she wasn’t far away from the inside gate and she tried hard but just coudln’t quite get there when fourth to Reserve Bank. Fitter and up in trip, her best is good enough.

9 Zloties (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very good mare for Grahame Begg and confident she can measure up to this level, like she did in the Bendigo Bracelet, giving them a start, a beating, overcoming the pattern…she was impressive. Good test at the mile at this level, but she is a mare in form.

12 Spirit Of Camelot (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in the mix here for Michael Hickmott after a dominant win two weeks back here. Admittedly she had the A1 run in transit but she was absolutely trucking before angling clear, took the front and was strong to the line in winning. I think she can measure up here.

10 Episodic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well for the Clarken/O’Shea camp. She ran third in the City Of Adelaide a fortnight back here when off speed and chased with purpose in the straight in a good effort in defeat behind Hellsing. Back to Mares grade suits, she’s in the mix.

3 Movin Out (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is on the back up for Chris Waller after an arrogant win in the Mornington Guineas where she rounded them up from last, came widest, and was very impressive in the run to the line. She has always shown promise and off the win last weekend, 2000m looks perfect. The one to beat.

9 Polymnia (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for the O’Shea/Charlton camp since contesting the Adrian Knox at Randwick. She got a fair way back in the run but tracked up with purpose before angling clear and she tried hard but couldn’t quite get past Belle Detelle. Saved for this, J Melham on, she appeals.

13 Pelevecchio (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will eat up 2000m and is a knockout hope. Both times in the Clare Lindop and Auraria, she has got a mile out of her ground but has finished the race off with real purpose, suggesting a rise in trip will suit. If she can get a drag intl the race, be within range, she’s dangerous.

14 Ameena (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks woudn right up to go here. Team Freedman trained filly that resumes, and she looks to be set for the race first up, where she tends to race best. She hasn’t raced since the Thousand Guineas Prelude where she got back and did make up ground but was never a factor behind Too Darn Lizzie. Jumpout work has been excellent and she does seem effective as a sprinter.

15 She’s Got Pizzazz (Bet Now:  $SP.00) gave them a start and a beating to win the PJ Bell three weeks ago, letting down with good late speed from off the speed to score. She seemed to relish being ridden with a sit so if that can eventuate here, she’s going to take beating against these.

6 A Little Deep (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a few weeks between runs since a win down the straight at Flemington where she knuckled down with purpose late to win and win well. She was only first up there so with upside/improvement to come and up to 1200m, she’s one of the leading contenders.

5 Richie D’Amour (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is in a purple patch and commands respect. He won three weeks ago at Morphettville Parks, getting the sweet sit in behind before angling clear and finished best to win narrowly but impressively. He is flying at present and onto the course proper is no issue.

7 The Mansman (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Phillip Stokes trained gelding that resumes. He hasn’t raced since ending last prep on a high with a win at Murray Bridge on Jan 11. He can sprint well fresh and with all the speed in front, he’ll launch late.

2 Platinum Wolf (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with his best. He resumed over 1100m here two weeks back where he got back to near last in the run and while he was never a winning threat, I thought he was far from disgraced in defeat behind Zanthron. Better set up here, not penning him.

BEST BET: Race Three Number 3 Sans Doute

NEXT BEST: Raec Seven Number 3 Movin Out

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 4 Saint Emillion
