26/12/2017 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Randwick, Summer Cup day

2 Commissioner (Bet Now: $7.50) looks the way to go to my eye. Team Snowden train this colt and he debuted in the Phelan Ready at Doomben last Saturday where he sat off the speed and like the other three runners, they were just no match for Ef Troop, who is the Magic Millions fav. Looks very well placed back to this level.

7 Lilith (Bet Now: $2.80) is a daughter of Hinchinbrook on debut for the Allan Denham yard. This girl has shown good in two trials, each resulting in wins, with the first trial seeing her bet Bondi and Witherspoon, two of the better juveniles we have seen this season. Draws a touch awkwardly, but I think she has the pace to overcome it.

Joe Pride isn’t really known as a trained of juveniles but he looks to have a handy type in 1 Bad Boy For Love (Bet Now: $10.00). This bloke trialled on December 19 at Warwick Farm and to my eye he went about his business quite nicely when second to The Autumn Son. Draws a touch awkwardly, but in terms of market place, he’s overs.

If 1 Calculated (Bet Now: $2.60) relaxes, he wins this and will go close in the Magic Millions. He just has this bad habit of wanting to overdo it in the run, which is what he did first up over 1100m here behind Savatino. Should improve with the run under the belt and I think the patient hands of Blake Shinn will really suit this horse.

Nothing wrong with what 2 Intuition (Bet Now: $3.70) is doing this time in. He is two for two this prep with James Cummings. Resumed with a maiden win at Wyong before taking on the older horses at Newcastle where he had to chase hard the final furlong but he did and ended up winning being eased down. Hardest test to date here but I think he can measure up.

4 Royal Phoenix (Bet Now: $12.00) comes through the Savatino race here last Saturday. He was three weeks between runs after running in the Magic Millions race on the Ballarat and he stuck on okay but lacked the class. I think something similar will happen again, but I think he can be included in all multiples for sure.

8 Nonpariel (Bet Now: $3.20) on top. Daughter of Commands first up for James Cummings and Godolphin. She can be a hard one to trust at times but on ability, she just about has these covered. Goes really well fresh, the form around her from last prep reads great and she has looked great in a couple of trials.

7 Don’t Tease Me (Bet Now: $4.00) will make sure this is a fast run 1000m. Rachel Hunt just let him stride over 1100m last time out at Rosehill, setting up a big margin and though paddling late, he clung on, and that form has held up nicely via Test The World in the race mentioned above. Should lead again and again has the light weight.

1 Princefamous (Bet Now: $4.50) is the class runner of the field but how well he is going, I’m not too sure. He resumed over 1100m at Rosehill and tried hard when attempting to lead all the way but just felt the pinch late when fifth to Test The World. I think back to 1000m is ideal and he maps superbly from the draw.

Pretty keen on 8 Cordero (Bet Now: $3.60). His opening three runs this prep were solid but he needed a confidence boost and he got it big time last Friday night at Canterbury when Avdulla rode him just off the speed, peeled out on the turn and put them away in a couple of strides for a dominant win. He can go right on with it now.

4 Coonawarra (Bet Now: $4.00) a definite threat. Progressive son of Snitzel for the Waterhouse/Bott yard who has won his last two races in pretty dominant fashion. Gave them a towelling two back at Muswellbrook before racing over 2000m at Hawkesbury last Sunday where he led all the way and did it pretty comfortably under Avdulla. 2400m looks no issue, should lead and take some beating.

8 Moqueen (Bet Now: $18.00) is a horse I am convinced is going well and out to a trip on a big track, I am expecting her to run really well. She has been going around recently at Canterbury and has been running on without threatening. She should do no work from the draw and is racing as if the 2400m will suit her ideally.

5 Baysa (Bet Now: $3.50) is on the quick back up for the Chris Waller yard after racing over the 1550m at Canterbury on Wednesday where I thought Tye Angland rode the mare an absolute treat, fitting of a win, but Jaunty got the suck run and split inside to nab her on the peg. Randwick mile looks good, has upside and love Waller horses backing up.

6 Ladder (Bet Now: $6.50) is a former Godolphin mare having her second start for Jean Dubois. She had her first run for the stable at Newcastle where she did a bit of work on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t hold out the finishing burst of Golly Miss Solly. Recent trial at Kembla was good and up to the mile is no issue.

Watch out for 9 Artistic Beauty (Bet Now: $11.00). Cameron Crockett should always be respected when he comes to town and he brings this mare, who has come back really well to my eye. Looked to have the race won last start at Orange but Tycoon Mar just had that hard race fitness which beat her. Should be near peak fitness now and does excel at the mile.

9 Montauk (Bet Now: $12.00) is a hard one to trust, but I think he’s going really well at the moment. He ran in the ATC Cup a tick over three weeks back where he tried hard but couldn’t quite let down on the shifty surface when third to Broadside. Tick over trial was good, loves firm going and saves his best for Randwick.

4 Mighty Lucky (Bet Now: $4.60) is an absolute beauty for the Fred Cowell yard. He comes through the Villiers where he spotted Cabeza De Vaca a huge start yet rattled home from the back in what was a ripping effort behind the eventual winner Crack Me Up. His record at 2000m+ is very good and is very well in at the weights.

3 Testashadow (Bet Now: $7.50) hasn’t raced over 2000m for a long time but I think the way he is racing at the moment, he’ll get it comfortably. Villiers run was enormous because he, like Mighty Lucky, gave away a huge start, yet finished off his race with real purpose, suggesting that the rise in trip will be no issue. Leading chance.

4 Montreal (Bet Now: $2.00) on top. Waterhouse/Bott trains this lightly raced gelding who resumed from a decent break at Wyong (Metro) where Tim Clark took him to the front and the heavily backed odds on pop took care of things from that point for a rather comfortable win. Second up syndrome a query, but on form he’s the one.

6 Radcliffe (Bet Now: $6.50) is a talented son of Lonhro second up for the James Cummings yard. He doesn’t have the greatest of records, but there is a decent engine under the hood. He resumed over 1300m at Hawkesbury and worked home with purpose late when third to Filomena’s Grace. His lone career win did come second up.

9 Vaniloquio (Bet Now: $23.00) is the very interesting runner. Former Hong Kong galloper who has had a couple of preps now in Australia for Clarry Conners and for the most part he has been quite consistent. He is wound up to run well fresh given he has had three solid trials in readiness for his return to the races, the latest over 1200m.

11 The Hipster (Bet Now: $4.00) was heavily backed when racing over 1200m at Rosehill last time out where I thought Hippo gave the lightly raced son of Rothesay a dream run off the pace and was there to win but he just lacked the killer blow at that level when fourth to Drachenfels. Winkers on now to sharpen him up and should be hard fit.

All you can is win and that is what 8 Dawn Raid (Bet Now: $6.50) has done in three runs this prep. Resumed with a maiden win at Goulburn before winning there on Goulburn Cup Day. He then went to Hawkesbury and looked in a bit of trouble but he attacked the line late to win. Randwick 1400m looks ideal.

1 Sharpe Hussler (Bet Now: $21.00) is the knockout runner at huge odds. Former Queenslander who has had a couple of runs now for the Cameron Crockett stable. Attacked the line with real purpose to win the feature sprint race on Mudgee Cup Day back on December 1. Trialled up last week at Narromine and ran sizzling time in winning. He’ll get back and charge home.

VALUE: Race Six Number 9 Montauk
