26/11/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Gold Coast, Recognition Stakes day

11 Steady Ready (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a quality colt for Team Sears that resumes. He hasn’t raced since September 3 at Doomben where he looked a good thing on paper but was pretty plain in the straight as a short priced favourite, finishing second to Flaming Conquest, who went right on with it soon after, so the form reads well, he seems effective over the short course and his trial win indicates he’s ready to go.

4 Strategic Position (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has found winning form…can he hold it? Too bad to be true fresh behind Five Oxford before going to Doomben again a fortnight back where they rode with more intent and the end result was a strong on speed win. He’s got room for improvement and I reckon he’ll be better with a bunny to chase.

2 Frederick (Bet Now:  $SP.00) The Dane will jump on the bunny and run a bold race. He did that a few weeks ago at Eagle Farm, attempting to lead throughout, and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish it off behind Rainbow Connection. His racing style is suited to the Gold Coast more so than Eagle Farm.

5 Mighty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) still looks a bit raw and new to the caper, but I think she has an okay engine under the hood. Time was nothing flash when winning her trial at Doomben, but once she balanced up in the straight, she seemed to move pretty well. Stable does fire with their juveniles, so watch the market.

7 Tango Fever (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a daughter of More Than Ready for Gary Portelli that is on debut. This stable is outstanding when it comes to juveniles and you’d assume this girl is here to try and get a spot in the Magic Millions. Trial win was good in solid time and have to respect the stable for making the trek.

6 Salt Lake Betty (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has the raceday experience under the belt to give this a shake. Debuted two weeks back at Doomben when near the speed throughout and battled away pretty well in defeat behind Skirt The Law, who was a dominant winner and ran solid time, so I think she has to be respected.

7 Montabot (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the horse on the up and is in winning form. Just needed the run fresh behind Five Crowns at Eagle Farm before going to the Ipswich midweeks when given a peach by Ben Thompson and despite a betting drift, he was far too good for them. I reckon if this was 2000m, he’d be a moral, but 1700m is fine and has more upside than most.

3 Drive A Deel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is creeping up in the relative weights but Rob Heathcoate has this mare absolutely flying. She was there to be beaten at Doomben a fortnight back but she found when required and was able to fend them off and win. Closer to the end of the prep than the beginning, but hard to knock the way she’s racing.

2 Slow Hands (Bet Now:  $SP.00) isn’t far off a win for Kelly Schweida. He ran in the Drive A Deel race from two weeks back at Doomben and I thought he worked to the line pretty well, though I will say the race shape was set up for him to finish off. He doesn’t have the best of winning strike rates, but is racing well enough to be a threat.

5 Storm The Fortress (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is heading in the right direction for Team Edmonds. Has won 2/2 to start his career, both over the 1200m here, the latest of those wins coming last Saturday when finishing best under a heavy ride from Harley. He’s racing like 1350m suits and this does look a winnable Saturday metro race.

9 Writrose (Bet Now:  $SP.00) has really turned the corner since joining the Gold Coast stable of Annabel Neasham. 2/2 in Queensland, bolting up to break the maiden tag over this track/distance two back before giving her rivals a spanking at Ipswich in a dominant display. Has to rate as one of the hardest to beat.

Fitter and up to 1350m are two big ticks for the Les Kelly trained 6 Chayse N Artie (Bet Now:  $SP.00). This quality three year old resumed at Doomben a fortnight back where he paraded like he would need the run and that’s how it panned out when down the track behind Northern Express. Showed good promise as a juvenile and has home track advantage so don’t pen him.

Looks a lovely race for 5 Star Gamble (Bet Now:  $SP.00). He has been kept on ice for five weeks since racing on shifty ground at Doomben and worked to the line very well without threatening behind Zoukina. Tick over trial was good and I do think back to 1200m and firmer footing are two big ticks for him.

7 Arentee (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is getting towards D-Day. Kept quite safe in betting when resuming two weeks ago at Doomben where he was given every chance by Maloney and was there to win on the turn but couldn’t finish it off and was plain late behind Petronius. Back to a Class 3, if he can’t go close to winning here, he’s in trouble.

Last bit will test 12 Ready For Better (Bet Now:  $SP.00) but she’ll give a sight. Ran behind Strategic Position at Doomben last time where she was near the speed throughout and battled late, but was beaten under a length. Has won at 1400m before but I do think short course is her go, so hoping for an aggressive ride and be strong late.

2 Zuma California (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a beauty for Cameron Richardson that comes here off a freshen up. He ended his Spring prep on a high with three wins on the bounce, the last of those being a win over 1400m at Eagle Farm. 1100m is on the short side for him but has residual fitness and is tough.

5 Shamaton (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is three weeks between runs for Tony Gollan since racing at Doomben where I thought she was given every chance by Thompson and looked the winner when she dashed but was nabbed late by Starvirgo, who had the suck run and finished best. Bursting to win and gets her chance.

6 Miss Hipstar (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Kelly Schweida trained mare that resumes. She hasn’t raced since July 9 when placing behind Uncommon James, who looks a Group l winner in waiting and looked a Group l winner in waiting in Melbourne before injury struck, so that form clearly has to read well for this.

8 Coco Rox (Bet Now:  $SP.00) will jump on the bunny and run a bold race. Bad jump beat her fresh at Warwick Farm before going to Rosehill where she found the front and tried hard, but was simply no match for I Am Me. Third up now so she should be hard fit and has a good racing style.

5 Salateen (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks really hard to beat against this lot. Tony Gollan trained mare that resumed in the Keith Noud two weeks ago and I thought she closed her race off well enough and was a definite pass mark behind Holyfield. Fitter and back to Mares grade, she’ll take beating for sure.

Think a rise to 1200m is a big tick for 6 Kisukano (Bet Now:  $SP.00). Resumed with a big win at the Sunny Coast before going to Eagle Farm on Cup Day and was pretty plain behind Simply Fly. Getting to 1200m I love for her and back to Mares grade, off the first up win, she’ll look the winner at some stage I am sure.

9 Kinloch (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to win. Should have won three weeks ago at Doomben but he just had zero luck in the straight when bolting for a run and it certainly holds a nomination for sickest beat of 2022. If he can get clear air this time around, I’m sure he has the finale to take care of this lot.

2 Holyfield (Bet Now:  $SP.00) did the right thing by us first up and is hard to beat again. Got the A1 run in transit two weeks ago in the Keith Noud before Loy found clear air with him and class kicked in late when challenged to fend off Garibaldi and win. Up to 1350m should be fine and has more upside than most.

Best version of 4 Blondeau (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is certainly capable. He is second up here for Chris Waller, having not raced since the Sydney Stakes where things didn’t go to plan so forget he went around behind Rocketing By. Tick over trial was a solid piece of work and he has a solid second up record.

10 Release The Beans (Bet Now:  $SP.00) looks back on track. Jury was out after a plain return behind Rainbow Connection but he bounced back to positive at Doomben when a closing third to Petronius. Proven at 1400m so the rise to 1350m is ideal and with natural improvement, he rates as one of the hardest to beat.

6 Rathlin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is hit and miss but his best is certainly good enough to give this a shake. He ran in the Rubamos race from a few back at Doomben and was close up in defeat after seemingly getting every chance when third to Rubamos. Hard fit now, he’s a key threat despite being a little while between wins.

12 Red Bloom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) commands respect. Over a month between runs when racing two weeks ago at Doomben and she was very honest, didn’t stop chasing when a close up third to Giulia. Better for the run you’d assume and she is a Saturday class horse when right, so she’s right in the mix.

BEST BET: Race One Number 11 Steady Ready

NEXT BEST: Race Nine Number 10 Release The Beans

LONG SHOT: Race Three Number 7 Montabot
