Race 1. (18:15) Ladbroke It (bm78) 3000m
2 Wellsford (Bet Now: $7.00) should eat up 3000m here for the in form Jarrod Robinson. Bless him and the big odds he was when winning over 2500m here last time out, and was well specked at a big price. He’s a real stayer so the rise to 3000m suits and the depth is not overly strong.
6 Atonement (Bet Now: $4.40) has the Matty Smith polish and he does have a good record in these 3000m races at The Valley. Didn’t have the best of luck over 2400m at Randwick last time when close up behind Outlandos, which clearly reads well for this, and she’s a mare better suited on firmer footing, which she gets here.
9 Alienated (Bet Now: $23.00) is worth a throw at the stumps at odds in including. Proven performer at the trip, and that being recent as well. Won at the trip two back at Cranbourne before going to 2500m at the Valley and just found them a bit sharp behind Swelter Magic. Up in trip, gate one with Frog on board, he only runs well.
Race 2. (18:45) Long Fine Hospitality (rs0mw) 955m
Specking 2 Superset (Bet Now: $8.50) each way in what looks an even contest. Son of Super One who is on debut for Shea Eden. His jumpout last week at Cranbourne, he looked to crab on the turn but once balanced up in the straight, I thought he moved alright. Gate one in these 955m races is a big help and there is no real standouts.
3 Wilbury (Bet Now: $2.00) is a Capitalist colt for Team Freedman that resumes. Hasn’t raced since his debut in the Maribyrnong Plate when down the track behind Brereton. Looked to jump out well recently in readiness for his return and the stable finds a very winnable race.
6 You Ess Ess (Bet Now: $3.40) Are isn’t a long shot, but she’s third pick in the small field for me. Debuted on Cranbourne Cup Day and just couldn’t let down on the bog surface when hard in the market, so want to be forgiving. Jumped out well leading in and stable is starting to find form.
Race 3. (19:15) Buy Better At Inglis (bm70) 955m
The map looks ideal for 5 Island Edition (Bet Now: $4.00). Resumed over 1000m at Sandown where he just lacked the change up speed to get the job done but worked to the line pretty well I thought behind a beauty, Lunar Hero. Stalks Titans from the draw and I think with the run under the belt, he’ll take beating.
1 Mynumerouno (Bet Now: $3.30) is the best horse in the race but just not sure where he is at fitness wise. Hasn’t raced since September 4 when winning over 1200m here. 955m is clearly not his trip, and his two jumpouts have been plain, but he has class and that will carry him a long way.
2 Titans (Bet Now: $5.50) is a jump/run type that looks extremely well suited at the 955m. Tough win over 1100m at Moe last time. She was there to be run down but found plenty under pressure, fended them off and was too good. 955m I like, she leads and will be tough to get past.
Race 4. (19:45) Ladbrokes 55sec Challenge-bm70 955m
Not surprised that 2 Young Liam (Bet Now: $8.00) has had early specking at odds. Bless him and his on speed win here fresh three weeks ago when travelling sweetly under Childs and he was the winner from a fair way out. I think he’ll get a dream run in transit, likely stalking Midwest, and be dangerous late.
1 Midwest (Bet Now: $1.75) is an absolute speed demon that will carve across and lead. Sustained speed from the front saw him win two back at Caulfield before going to 1000m here where again, his speed came to the fore and was dominant. Proven at the 955m and will look the winner for a long way.
3 El Salto (Bet Now: $7.00) will appreciate a fast run 955m here. Ran over 1100m at Bendigo last time out where he got a fair way back in the run and worked to the line pretty well I thought behind Tax Free Prophet. Gets a significant jockey upgrade and will be strong at the end.
Race 5. (20:15) The Drain Man (bm70) 2040m
4 Vardani (Bet Now: $5.50) gets Johnny Allen back aboard and he was on the horse when it bolted up four back at Warrnambool. Three runs since have been mixed but I thought his effort behind Worthily at Caulfield last time was quite good and I do think that form reads very well for a race like this.
2 Agnelli (Bet Now: $3.00) is a consistent animal for Chris Waller that slogged it out best to win at this track/distance last time out, with Prebble really lifting him late to nab Laundy, who ran well on Wednesday at Sandown. Gets in well after the claim for Stockdale and maps pretty well.
1 Rider In The Snow (Bet Now: $46.00) is a former NSW galloper that makes his debut for Symon Wilde and you would assume that they have eyes on jumping/Warrnambool carnival. Just one soft jumpout to get ready for the return but resuming at 2040m tells me there is some level of intent.
Race 6. (20:45) Midway Concrete (bm70) 2040m
10 Sheezadandi (Bet Now: $3.50) gets a jockey upgrade and drawn better, she gets her chance to get into the winners list. Ethan Brown slaughtered her here last time out, sitting wide no cover for the trip and she stayed on quite well behind Sacred Lass. Draws to get every chance and is bursting to win one.
1 Angel Rock (Bet Now: $4.40) is on the seven day back up after bolting up at this track/distance last Saturday where she was ridden a treat on speed by Josh Richards and she was much too good for them. I think she gets in well after the claim. Just a slight bit of a negative jockey downgrade, but hard to knock the way she’s going.
2 Nerve Not Verve (Bet Now: $15.00) comes through the Sacred Lass race mentioned above and I want to be forgiving. She just copped a bit too much pressure on speed and tried hard, but was a beaten horse a fair way out. Her prior form was sound so want to give her another chance on speed.
Race 7. (21:15) Typhoon Tracy Stakes 1200m
2 Scorched Earth (Bet Now: $2.25) is a beauty and has to be the safe option. Looked home in the Kevin Hayes, only to be bloused on the peg by Argentia in a really good effort. Like that the stable dodged the Angus Armanasco to keep her at 1200, where she is most effective. Hard to beat.
7 Snapped (Bet Now: $2.60) is a progressive unbeaten filly for Team Freedman that is 2/2 to start her career. She hasn’t beaten a great deal in both runs, but has run time each start and did spank them at this track/distance last time. Good test for her here against Scorched Earth but I think she’s capable.
9 Neverstandingstill (Bet Now: $91.00) is a good looker and she does have talent. Strong maiden win at Yarra Valley before racing at Sandown two weeks back where she tried hard from off the speed but was clearly no match for No Crying, who won like Black Caviar. That form reads okay for this.
Race 8. (21:45) Rule Prostate Cancer (bm70) 1200m
12 Sandy Prince (Bet Now: $3.50) is a talented three year old for Team Hayes that resumes. Hasn’t raced since the Gothic Stakes during the Melbourne Spring when a gallant third to Extreme Flight. It was a busy prep, but a fruitful prep. Jumped out well and has a touch of class.
4 Mariamia (Bet Now: $2.90) is a beauty for Shane Stockdale. Been in work forever it seems like but she is holding her form nicely. Led and looked home in the Bellmaine last time but was nabbed near the peg by Probabeel. Has a big win at this track/distance from this prep and with her racing style, the wide gate is fine.
1 Tibetan (Bet Now: $71.00) is big odds here I feel. He did a really good job last prep when sent to Matty Enright, highlighted by an Ararat Cup triumph. Good fresh record and I thought a jumpout earlier this week was a good piece of work, so keen to see how he goes despite being an unsuitable trip.
