A bumper ten race card has been assembled for Cox Plate Day at The Valley this Saturday, the final Cox Plate to be run at Moonee Valley as it is. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

7 Beast Mode (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a short course specialist and does have a liking for The Valley it would appear, with his last start seeing him romp up in a 955m here. Good racing style, down in the weights, I think he’ll run very well despite the clear class/depth rise.

9 Tonkin (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Team Freedman trained mare that comes here with fresh legs, having not raced since Sep 13 down the straight at Flemington when on speed over 1100m and was hailed as the winner, only to be bloused late by Persian Spirit. Back to 1000m, good racing style, she appeals.

5 Major Share (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a very genuine animal for Adam Chambers that resumes. He really came of age when last in work, the highlight being a win down the straight at Flemington. Couple of sharp jumpouts under the belt, watch betting.

1 Prince Tycoon (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Busuttin/Young three year old that resumes after a two run prep as a 2YO, winning on debut at Caulfield before a gutsy effort at the Gold Coast. Spelled, jumped out well, he’s one of the hardest to beat.

2 Napoleonic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes to Melbourne for O’Shea/Charlton after a fourth in the Roman Consul two weeks back at Rosehill where he seemingly got every chance in transit and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. J Mac on, back a fair way in grade/depth, he appeals.

4 St Edward (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a progressive three year old for Price/Kent that comes into this off the back of a track/distance win when getting the suck run in behind before angling clear and finished best to score, winning well. Good test, but think he can measure up.

3 Kujenga (Bet Now:  $SP.00) for me. She was one horse who did work well on Tuesday morning here, and Annabel has stated that she needs cover to be effective. She comes up with gate one here, comes back to 1200m, back in depth and D Lane on…plenty to like about her.

2 Stardom (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the Scarborough when on speed throughout, doing work in the run, and was entitled to knock right up but she stayed on and was far from disgraced in defeat. If J Mac can get her across without spending too many petrol tickets, she takes beating.

14 Extragalactic (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a Trent Edmonds trained filly that comes to town off the back of a maiden win at Barinsdale where she gave them a start and a beating over 1000m, getting better as the race went on to win well. 1200m is fine, maps to do no work…first four threat.

3 Enviable (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a filly I have a lot of time for. Chris Waller trained filly that was given a barrier trial in the Flight Stakes both via the ride and the race shape, but she did close off very well, looking like a filly that has more to give hence why she’s here and I think she’ll take a power of beating. Keen.

5 Ruska Roma (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes through the Edward Manifold from three weeks ago. She just lacked change up speed when asked for the effort but she stayed on and was a definite pass mark in defeat behind Getta Good Feeling. Form around her reads well, she’s one of the leading contenders.

9 Stung (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes straight to town for Team Hayes off the back of a debut win at Kilmore where she gave them a start and a beating, getting better as the race went on to win well. Think she can measure up and run well here.

4 Future History (Bet Now:  $SP.00) won this race last year and is on track to repeat the dose. He ran last Wednesday in the Coongy at Caulfield when on speed and fought hard but had no answers for the turn of foot produced by Wootton Verni. He’ll land on speed and take running down.

6 Naval College (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a threat. Team Archibald trained gelding that comes through the Port Macquarie Cup when lumping 62kg and he tried his guts out but just couldn’t quite finish the job and sprint well enough with the big weight. Gets good weight relief this time around and this isn’t an overly strong contest.

7 Star Of India (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 2040m after racing over 1800m at Sandown. He got a fair way out of his ground and while he was never threatening, he kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat I thought behind Charterhouse. The rise in trip I don’t mind, sneaky going well…first four contender.

8 She’s A Hustler (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 2040m after a first up win over 1800m at Flemington. She got into a lovely spot just off speed before being clicked up by Childs and away she went to spank them in an impressive return. Good upside, loved the tick over jumpout…like her here.

1 Jennilala (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is third up from a spell and should be hard fit. She ran second to Oh Too Good a fortnight back at Caulfield, sitting on speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. The rise in trip is fine, she has good upside and a good racing style.

I am convinced that 6 Movin Out (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well and should love the rise to 2040m. She ran behind Oh Too Good two weeks ago where she got back to near last in the run and while she was never threatening, she kept chasing and was pretty good in defeat. Like her up in trip and strikes a winnable race.

8 Oh Too Good (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a mare in form and is one of the key threats. She won at Caulfield two weeks back and while she didn’t beat a great deal, she was impressive the way she let down and put them away. Good test here, but think she measures up.

5 Golden Path (Bet Now:  $SP.00) comes back to the mile afte racing over 2000m in the Turnbull Stakes where he just found them a bit much, finishing down the track behind Sir Delius. Back to the mile is ideal and if there is petrol left in the tank, he’s dangerous.

1 Pinstriped (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is racing well and is a proven track/distance performer. He was close up in the Toorak Handicap and should have fought the finish out if given clear air, but didn’t quite get the clearest of paths in the straight. He’s back on track and will run really well.

4 Klabel (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is capable with his best. He ran in the Apache Cat at Cranbourne when on speed, ridden with intent, and despite being one of the first off the bit, he kept on and was quite game in defeat. Genuine animal, 1200m I like and stable rarely misfire in Melbourne. Each way for me.

3 Tropicus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a key threat for Team Freedman. Sharp first up winne before having a mini let up before going to Caulfield again two weeks ago when on speed and tried hard but had no answers late for Giga Kick. Fitter, good racing style, he appeals.

2 Regal Zeus (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a John McArdle trained gelding that resumes, potentially with eyes on a race like the Cranbourne Cup maybe? 1200m is on the short side for him but he has jumped out well, he likes firm ground and is very genuine.

1 Observer (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a good colt. A really good colt. Can easily make a case to say he wins the Caulfield Guineas if he gets clear air but it ended up being a nightmare watch when third. He’ll have no issue with the trip, has upside…leading chance I say.

3 Options (Bet Now:  $SP.00) steps up to 2040m after a win in the Super Impose three weeks ago at Flemington, giving them a start and a beating in an impressive performance to score. The rise in trip should be fine and the way he’s racing, he’s one of the leading contenders.

5 Providence (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is bursting to do something. He comes through the Gloaming where not much went right for him but like he has done all prep, he has found the line well enough, suggesting a rise in trip will suit, and has class I think to run very well.

6 Via Sistina (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is a gun mare…but is she at her best? Not sure. She did win the Winx first up, but her two runs since, she has raced well, but not at the level we know she can reach. Was the Cox Plate win last year an outlier? Not sure, but she has runs on the board and Waller in a Grand Final…has to be given serious respect.

8 Aeliana (Bet Now:  $SP.00) should have run in the Caulfield Cup IMO. She has been racing very well but for mine has been racing like a stayer, so for her fans, she will want this Cox Plate to be truly run. She was good in the Turnbull after hitting the flat spot and love the booking of Hugh Bowman. She’ll run very well.

9 Nepotism (Bet Now:  $SP.00) is the horse I am warming to as a knockout chance. Shinn was only hands/heels in the Caulfield Guineas, if that. It was a barrier trial. I’d love to see Zac get him out of the gates and sit on speed because IMO, the only chance a 3YO has in the Cox Plate is if they settle forward. If he does, he’ll run a beauty.
