23/3/2022 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Sandown

An eight race card has been set down for Sandown Hillside on Wednesday. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is out five metres for the entire circuit.

4 Hollywood Park (Bet Now: $5.00) is an American Pharoah three year old for Peter Moody that is on debut. This guy has had a couple of Pakenham jumpouts to get ready for start one and has won them both in pretty good style. He finds a winnable maiden and stable is in form.

3 Dun Warrior (Bet Now: $3.30) is well educated for start one. Price/Kent trained gelding that is on debut. He had a Spring prep without a run, and trialled up well. Spelled and has come back with three jumpouts, where he has got better with heat hit out. J Kah for start one, keen to see how he goes.

2 Bors (Bet Now: $4.20) has been up a little while but continues to hold his form okay. He was there to win when but couldn’t quite finish it off when nabbed late by Semper Fortis. He’ll land on speed and look to give his all. Like him back to 1400m. Just not sure if there is any petrol left in the tank.

4 Belle Savoir (Bet Now: $8.50) on top in a tricky race. Nick Ryan trained filly that is having start two. Debuted at Ballarat back in March of last year when letting down strongly from off the speed to get the job done. She’s had a couple of jumpouts to get ready, winning the latest at Flemington. Keen to see how she performs fresh.

5 Morean (Bet Now: $3.90) looks to be a filly with talent. Team Freedman trained filly that won on debut at Sale. She then went to Pakenham and was good late without threatening when third. The rise to 1300m I do like for her and she does get J Kah. Definite threat.

2 Adele Amour (Bet Now: $2.25) is an interesting runner. John Sadler trained filly that resumes, having not raced since the Ethereal when down the track and potentially at the end of her prep. Stable just starting to find its groove in recent weeks, so I’d watch the market with her.

I want to give 1 Pearlman (Bet Now: $3.20) another chance. Luckless two back on the Parks track before racing here last Wednesday where the race shape was against him but was okay late. He will eat up 3000m here I feel and the depth here, as a whole, doesn’t look overly strong.

2 Eaton (Bet Now: $4.20) should have little trouble with 3000m. He ran over 2500m at The Valley last time out and was solid late from off the pace when fourth to the very much in form French Moon. He doesn’t win out of turn but in races like this, he does have to be respected.

9 There For You (Bet Now: $27.00) is a real one batter but she is honest and stays all day, as was the case last week at Warrnambool when a solid fourth to Count Zero. She will have no issue with the trip, down in the weights, gets a suck run…doubt she wins, but one for multiples.

5 Old Flame (Bet Now: $3.60) looks the best on the card IMO. Former UK galloper that makes his Australian debut for Team Snowden after showing promise overseas. Has had a couple of trials to get ready and I thought his latest trial was a good piece of work, producing change up speed, which I like to see from an import. J Kah on first up tells me there is intent.

2 Faretti (Bet Now: $3.10) will put himself on speed and look to give his all. Resumed over this track/distance two weeks ago when leading and giving a solid kick but was no match late for The Garden, safely holding the rest. He’ll land in front here and look to control proceedings.

6 Show Some Decorum (Bet Now: $10.00) is racing in pretty good form for Team Freedman. Contested the Magic Millions 3&4YO Classic at Murray Bridge where he was wide no cover, which isn’t really a disadvantage at that track, and fought on well enough in defeat behind Zoist. Not sure he wins here, but one for multiples.

7 Dancelittesister (Bet Now: $3.50) will jump and run, hopefully pinching it. Has tried to do that in both runs this time and has fought on bravely to finish runner up each time, the latest here behind Tycoon Humma, who ran a super race in defeat on Friday night. Last bit will test, but she’ll look the winner.

1 Sense Of Honour (Bet Now: $2.20) is a fascinating runner. Price/Kent trained mare that resumes, having not raced since July 2020 when a strong on speed winner at Flemington and at the time, she looked like she could be Stakes class. Has clearly had her issues, but has trialled up well and gets J Kah fresh. Huge market and yard watch.

2 Universal Lady (Bet Now: $11.00) is racing like 1200m will suit so staying at 1000m I find interesting. Maher/Eustace trained mare that ran over 1000m at Sandown when back off the speed and working home pretty well without threatening behind More Secrets. I think she’ll be around the mark.

4 Deepstrike (Bet Now: $4.60) is getting towards last chance territory. He was good late fresh at Pakenham before going to Murray Bridge where he was pretty plain I thought behind Sanblas, but he was four weeks between runs. Only 18 days between runs leading into here and gets a significant jockey upgrade. D-Day.

2 Ocean Chief (Bet Now: $3.90) has found his winning groove for Michael Moroney. His last three starts/wins have come over the mile at Pakenham, and each time he has been impressive with a good racing style. The query is rising to 1800m but he is bred to appreciate it. Hard to beat.

1 Hasseltoff (Bet Now: $8.50) can run a much improved race from the inside draw. Narrow second to Worthily at Caulfield two back before being freshened up and racing over the mile here two weeks ago and was okay late from the wide gate behind Jaffastock. If the inside gate is used to advantage, he’ll be dangerous.

2 Saint Of Katowice (Bet Now: $3.00) on top. Maher/Eustace trained gelding that ran under the lights at Canterbury last time out. Market took a set against him and it was proven correct, proving quite weak late after leading. J Kah on, firmer footing, should sit on speed and take beating.

11 Lunares (Bet Now: $6.00) doesn’t win out of turn but is an honest horse that should be around the mark. Ran over 1300m under the lights at Cranbourne and was gallant in defeat from just off the speed behind Bellinger. That was her first run in seven weeks, so there is room for improvement.

4 Stagger Together (Bet Now: $6.50) is racing really well this time in for Barry Goodwin. Strong winner two back at Pakenham before going to Bendigo where he found a bottomless track and duly saluted, albeit he beat nothing. Good test here, but confident he can measure up.

10 Lafargue (Bet Now: $3.40) is a three year old taking on the older horses but this is an ordinary race. He made a mess of them in an Echuca maiden last time out. Did he beat much? I am saying no, but he did make a mess of them. J Kah on and should get run of the race from the draw.

5 Black Bolt (Bet Now: $5.50) has a tricky draw to overcome but I think he has returned in pretty good order. Resumed over 1300m at Newcastle when on speed and tried hard, but couldn’t quite get the win when second to Stellar Performer, who was an eye catcher at Rosehill on the weekend, so the form reads well, should press forward and take beating.

7 Nerone (Bet Now: $27.00) should be okay back to 1300m. He ran over 1400m at Ballarat last time out in the Country All Star Mile Heat and was far from disgraced in defeat behind Intellective. He was six weeks between runs, so whether this is a prep run for something else, not sure, but the map looks okay.
