A bumper ten event program has been assembled for Kembla on Saturday, headlined by The Gong (1600m). Weather is fine, track is soft (7) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

Race 1. (12:35) Tab Highway Hcp (C3) 1400m
20 Lambay (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) looks a very good prospect for Joseph/Jones. He comes to town off a win at Gundagai last Friday where he gave them a start, a beating and won by a space in very good time. He looks a beauty and confident he can measure up here.
4 Gentileschi (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a progressive mare for the Messara/Gavranich camp that has good upside to come after resuming at Rosehill a fortnight back where she got back in the run and made up some headway without threatening. Good improvement I say and with a more positive ride, is hard to beat.
12 Daze Off (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) can threaten. She was 1175m to 1400m last time out at Albury when on speed and she tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through when second to Future Fund. Has that 1400m run under the belt, which should hold her in good stead.
Race 2. (13:10) Midway (Bm72) 1400m
12 Monte Supreme (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) has home track advantage and looks ready to rock and roll. He ran in the Midway at Rosehill two weeks ago where he got off the speed and came with a well timed run but just couldn’t quite pick up Direct Fire. If he is within range 400m out, I think he has the finale to take this out.
6 Direct Fire (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is another trained on the track, this on by Theresa Bateup. He landed a big plunge at Rosehill, leading throughout and although challenged, he found under pressure to fend them off. Can he repeat the dose? With that racing pattern, he definitely can.
7 Satness (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) has home track advantage and a good racing style. He comes back to 1400m after racing over 1800m in a Midway at Randwick where he was near the speed throughout and tried hard but just didn’t really run the trip out behind Flying Bandit. Back in trip, trained here, he’s a threat at odds.
Race 3. (13:45) Traffic Logistics (Bm78) 1000m
4 Pisanello (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) seems the straight bat play. He ran down the straight at Flemington two weeks ago where a nation roared for a hero, J Mac, to lift the last favourite of Cup Week across the line and bless his heart that he did. Good test here back to 1000m, but the way he’s returned, kind map, class, he has to go on top.
Once upon a time, 11 Duke Of Bronte (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) would struggle to win an 800m barrier trial but Matty Dale has really toughened up and she resumed with an all the way win on the Kenso, producing sustained speed from the front and gave nothing else a look in to win impressively. Think he can measure up.
13 Angel Fund (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is racing well and can threatn. David Pfieffer trained mare that ran over 1100m a fortnight back at Rosehill where she got off the speed and kept finding the line without threatening behind impressive winner Confess Our Dreams. Fast run 1000m is fine and this race, as a whole, isn’t a deep race overall.
Race 4. (14:20) Carlton Dry 3.5 (Bm78) 1200m
2 Gently Rolled (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) looks set to go third up and the Bryce Heys camp is starting to hum. She ran at Randwick on Cup Day where she got off the speed and tried hard but just couldn’t quite finish the job. Unbeaten third up and maps perfect, so she looks hard to beat.
3 Infatuation (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is an improving type Bjorn Baker. She resumed at Rosehill over 1100m when on speed, did a bit too much early work, and just felt the pinch late in the piece. Better for the run and a more kind map, she can threaten.
11 Monte Kate (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a knockout hope for Team Price. She ran behind Confess Our Dreams two weeks back at Rosehill where she got into a decent spot on speed but just couldn’t quite finish the race off. I think with a more economical run in transit, she’s a threat at a price.
Race 5. (14:55) Pfd Food Services (Bm78) 2000m
4 Alalcance (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) could put her hand up for some blacktype over the next couple of months. She looks a really nice prospect for GaiBott, making her Australian debut over 2140m at Warwick Farm when on speed and was trucking before putting the race to bed and she was impressive. That was on Sep 25 and her trial work since has been quite good. Keen.
7 Modesty (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) looks the one with upside, the sense of timing and he does have the Chris Waller polish. He was 1300m to 1800m when winning two weeks ago at Rosehill, getting a peach from Moreira and in a driving finish, he was too good. He will eat up 2000m and strikes another winnable race if the top tip isn’t at her best.
5 Fleet Commander (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) becomes dangerous if this track is playing up/in, which it can do on a firm deck. He found the front at Rosehill last time and tried hard but just couldn’t quite see it through late in the piece behind Kadavar. Back to 2000m I like and with front end control, takes beating.
Race 6. (15:30) Evergreen Turf (Bm78) 1400m
13 Blazing Harry (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) has found winning form and he can go on with it. Price/Kent galloper that was working up to a win and it came over 1300m at Randwick on Cup Day, getting the sweet sit in transit and finished best to win impressively. He can win again.
10 Midnight Opal (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) looks ready to win for Nathan Doyle. This guy was good in defeat behind Fire Star two weeks ago at Rosehill when off the speed and kept chasing when clear in a really good effort. He’s hard fit now, can settle closer in the run and still be effective at the end.
5 Snapback (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) has had a couple of runs for Mick Minervini and hasn’t been too bad after formerly being with Team Snowden. His latest run was two weeks back at Rosehill behind Fire Star where the race shape wasn’t suited to him but he kept on and wasn’t too bad in defeat. Hard fit now, I am not dismissing him.
Race 7. (16:05) Abax Civil (Bm88) 1600m
2 Estadio Mestalla (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) looks ready to win for Joe Pride. He looked all over the winner last time out at Randwick in The Little Dance when he hit the front but was nabbed on the peg by St Lawrence. He has that 1600m run under the belt, which should hold him in good stead.
14 Chica Mojito (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) should appreciate a rise back up in trip for Chris Waller. She was 1600m back to 1400m at Rosehill a fortnight back and you can easily make a case to say she wins if given a half decent ride but got a butcher I thought when narrowly beaten by Need Some Luck. Up in trip again, she appeals.
13 Hollywood Hero (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) has to be given another look. I have no idea what to make of the ride from J Parr at Randwick last time. It was horrendous, making all the wrong calls when having plenty to offer. Drawn out here, so should get clear air, room to move and launch late.
Race 8. (16:45) The Gong 1600m
10 Converge… (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is there a pulse? It’s fleeting, but it’s there I feel. His two runs back have been somewhat inconclusive but he hasn’t done much for a long time so that’s why I reckon he was given a good hitout to win a Randwick trial last week, pushed out to the line and won the trial by a space in good time. If he brings his best, he can threaten.
3 Territory Express… (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) surely his time in the spotlight this Spring is coming. It should have been in the Five Diamonds two weeks ago but he was given none by Zac Lloyd and it ended up being a car crash. He is trained on the track, he should get room to move on the big track…surely he’s hard to beat.
5 Lion’s Roar (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) can run an improved race at odds. He resumed off a let up in the King Charles where he just found them a bit sharp over the mile and ran accordingly when down the track behind Ceowulf before getting too far back in the Big Dance. This looks more his go, he will love a fast run mole and if the breaks go his way, he can finish best and get the job done.
Race 9. (17:20) The Warra 1000m
He’s been such a frustrating horse to follow, but on paper, this looks THE perfect set up for 7 Iowna Merc (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) to resume a winner. He should have won the Ortensia first up last prep but was slaughtered and the prep just didn’t eventuate from that point on. I think he’s a dynamic 1000m/1100m horse, he looked very sharp in a recent trial win and he’ll be just about on the minimum, plus with all the speed engaged, I think he’ll give them a start and a beating.
3 Hedged (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a talented sprinter for Price/Kent that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since June 22 when a dominant winner on Ipswich Cup Day, with class coming to the fore. He has been given a good break and his trial work to get ready has been great, so keen to see how he goes.
8 Quick Tempo (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) ran well in this race last year and looks on track to do something similar. He ran at Randwick on Cup Day when back off the speed and kept finding the line without threatening behind Dragonstone. If the breaks go his way, his best is good enough.
Race 10. (17:55) Elite Sand & Soil (Bm78) 1200m
4 Iron Man (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is racing so well but is just finding it very hard to greet the judge first. He ran a fortnight back at Rosehill when wide no cover throughout yet kept chasing when second to the in form Fire Star. If the breaks go his way, he’s hard to beat.
9 Starman (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) looks to have returned well. Chris Waller trained gelding that resumed over 1200m two weeks ago where he got back in the run and while he was never threatening, he did make up headway and was good in defeat behind Fire Star. Has a much better set up and with a more positive ride, he can win.
7 Bunker Hut (Bet Now:ย $SP.00) is a son of Savabeel for Michael Freedman that resumes. This guy is first up, having not raced since June 12 on the Kenso when finding heavy ground and tried hard but couldn’t quite finish the job when third to Pure Alpha. Trial work to get ready has been good and this isn’t a deep race.
