9 The Catch (Bet Now: $3.00) gets a great chance to measure up in town. 2/2 this time in, winning fresh at the Gold Coast before going to Ipswich where he needed luck in the run and once he got it, away he went and he was dominant. He has been very well placed throughout his career but he seems spot on to measure up here.

Danger

6 Fast Talking (Bet Now: $6.00) brings winning form and has good wet track experience. David Vandyke trained gelding that comes to town off the back of a dominant win at Ipswich where he landed on speed and trucked in the run before being clicked up on the turn and he showed good change up speed to win impressively. Hard to beat in these conditions.

Long Shot

3 Montez (Bet Now: $9.50) should be suited up in trip for Maryann Brosnan. Two weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at the Gold Coast where he was a month between runs and that lack of race fitness just worked against him. Fitter and up to a more suitable trip, an improved showing is on the cards.

Race 2. (12:33) Bill Carter Stakes 1200m

4 Zougotcha (Bet Now: $2.05) is a few weeks between runs for Chris Waller since racing on a bottomless track at Randwick. She tried her guts out but couldn’t quite finish it off when second to Bandi’s Boy. I think the extra time off and back to her own age/sex, back on firmer footing, she’ll take beating.

Danger

6 Midnight In Tokyo (Bet Now: $4.40) has done little wrong in a two start career for Annabel Neasham. Debuted with a dominant maiden win at the Sunny Coast. Spelled and resumed in the Ken Russell where she surged hard late, just missing out on picking IMO the best juvenile in Queensland, Nettuno. Back to her own sex, fitter, she’ll take beating.

Long Shot

9 Stroll (Bet Now: $17.00) can run an improved race for the O’Dea/Hoysted camp. Market wanted her late when she resumed in the Ken Russell two weeks back and while she was never really a threat, I didn’t mind her finale in defeat. If she can settle closer in the run, she’ll be dangerous.

1 Shelby Sixtysix (Bet Now: $8.00) needs bottomless conditions to fire and that, plus J Mac being booked, is enough for me. He has pulled up lame at his past three runs, the latest in the Takeover Target, so on the outside looking in, the optics of him continuing the prep aren’t great, but I’ll back in the judgement of Danny Williams, and he does get his preferred conditions.

Danger

14 Joy Too All (Bet Now: $9.00) is a promising mare resuming for David Vandyke. This girl has won four of her six outings, all four wins coming on wet ground. She has been well placed by the camp throughout her career so interesting they go straight to Stakes grade fresh, but she has trialled up well enough and gets W Pike.

Long Shot

13 Winside (Bet Now: $14.00) is suited back to this trip. Ran last Saturday in the Bright Shadow over 1200m and she didn’t disgrace herself at all in a pretty solid Mares race won by Written Beauty. She is a short course mare so back to 1110m I do like for her and with hard fitness, she’s in with a shout.

Race 4. (13:43) Pam O’Neill Stakes 1600m

Happy to butter up with 3 Yamazaki (Bet Now: $6.00). She resumed in the Silk Stocking two weeks ago at the Gold Coast and I reckon with clear air, she goes close to winning instead of getting eased late when on heels, finishing fourth to Dzsenifer. The 1600m, I think, is okay, and hopefully the track isn’t too bad.

Danger

6 April Rain (Bet Now: $4.00) got her blacktype placing via the Silk Stocking last start…now can she get a win? A new TV was on standby because I’ve been on her back since Day One but dropped off at the Gold Coast. She looked the winner but couldn’t quite get past Dzsenifer. I think the mile will be fine and she’s in the right camp.

Long Shot

9 Adelase (Bet Now: $34.00) is a knockout hope. Barry Baldwin trained mare that resumed in the Silk Stocking where she paraded like she would need the run and that’s how it panned out, but she was far from disgraced in defeat. She’ll love the rise in distance and has good upside to come.

Race 5. (14:18) Brc Sprint 1350m

A bottomless Heavy10 is leaning me towards 12 Taksu (Bet Now: $4.80) now. Joe Pride has done a fab job with this horse, coming into this off the back of an absolute spank job at Randwick on a bog track, lapping up the conditions, similar to what we’ll get here. Down in the weights, on speed, he’ll do me.

Danger

4 Buffalo River (Bet Now: $4.80) is a key threat. Michael Moroney trains this gelding, who comes here second up after resuming in the Anniversary Vase at Sandown. He attempted to lead throughout and gave a very solid kick but was just nabbed late by Regardsmaree. He has the right racing pattern for this track, he’s fitter, he loves getting his feet wet…he only runs well.

Long Shot

3 Soxagon (Bet Now: $8.00) is a Mark Currie trained galloper that was backed with confidence at odds when resuming at the Gold Coast two weeks ago and after 100m, you knew your fate if you were on. He drew wide, but the intent from Stewart to sit on speed ensured the horse would be hard to beat and so it proved. Harder here, but he commands respect.

Not going to dive into the shorts about 1 Zaaki (Bet Now: $1.50), but I can’t see him getting beat. Arrogant win in the Hollindale two weeks ago. He was ridden like he was the best horse in the race and duly saluted. The wet track is the query, because his last couple, while he has been performing at a high level, he’s clearly not as dynamic. I think he wins, but couldn’t back with confidence.

Danger

9 Polly Grey (Bet Now: $7.00) could be the fly in the ointment for Zaaki. Tim Clark was booked to ride Great House, but Waller has put him on this mare, so to me, that says, ride this mare with intent and don’t allow Zaaki to make it a procession. In these conditions, it almost becomes advantage this girl and IMO, the $6 is a slice of overs and is an easy bet to have if Zaaki remains as short as he is.

Long Shot

No secret I am seat 1A of the 6 Huetor (Bet Now: $12.00) fan club. I think he’s a Group l winner in waiting. Wouldn’t shock me at all if it came here. He was outstanding against the pattern fresh at Randwick before going to the Hollindale, his first look against the big boys, and he measured up big time with a closing fourth to Zaaki. If he is around double figures or better, I think he almost becomes the 1×3 bet.

Race 7. (15:28) The Roses 2000m

6 Stalking (Bet Now: $10.00) should appreciate a rise to 2000m for James Cummings. Finally the maiden win out of the way in style two back at Kenbla. She then went to the Bracelet and probably just found the 1800m a touch too short for her style but was good late behind Dynasties. Like her up in trip and does have a touch of class.

Danger

7 Teranga (Bet Now: $21.00) is racing like she will appreciate 2000m. She comes through the Princess Stakes from a few weeks back and I really liked the way she finished her race off nearer the inside when second to stablemate Canadian Dancer. She’s had two runs at the mile now. The rise in trip suits and is a key threat.

Long Shot

8 Belle Savoir (Bet Now: $9.00) can bounce back. On face value, she was a touch disappointing a few weeks ago at Sandown but when you break down the sectionals, she actually did a really good job to get as close as she did to beating Carlisle. More genuine tempo here, she can get back into the winners list.

Race 8. (16:03) Impressu Darby Mccarthy 3Yo 1110m

10 Nord Lyon (Bet Now: $13.00) will do me in the get out for Stuart Kendrick. Admittedly he hasn’t raced in strong races this time in, but he has been performing quite strongly with two wins from three outings, and go back to last prep, the form around him reads very well for a race like this.

Danger

2 Rubiquitous (Bet Now: $5.00) is a Chris Anderson trained three year old that will put himself on the bunny and give his all. Bets at big odds were landed when on speed and fighting hard to win the Mick Dittman. They could have stepped him up in trip but they’ve stayed in their lane and staying at the short course, he’s hard to beat.

Long Shot

5 Grey Defence (Bet Now: $20.00) is a ripper for Les Ross. He’s been a busy horse since day one but continues to race at a solid level, which was the case in the Gold Coast Guineas two weeks ago wehn a strong third to Prince Of Boom. I reckon 1200m at this level sees him out so back to 1110m here, he appeals.

Race 9. (16:33) Nova 106.9 (Bm85) 1200m

Back Me

15 The Big Goodbye (Bet Now: $4.20) is a very genuine horse for Rob Heathcoate that looks hard to beat. He ran at the midweeks at Eagle Farm last start when chasing a genuine speed and he tried his guts out. Just couldn’t quite get there when a narrow second to Boomnova, who bolted up last Saturday, sot the form reads well and up to 1200m looks ideal.

Danger

7 Snowzone (Bet Now: $12.00) has a fab record at Doomben and comes here as a last start winner. That win came at Grafton where he absolutely trucked on the bog track at Grafton and gave them a spanking, albeit in a far easier race than this. But, his record at the track certainly keeps him in the mix.

Long Shot

3 Irish Songs (Bet Now: $51.00) is the class of the field and has wet track form, so he’s in with a shout. He got a mile back in the Town Plate at Wagga and while he was never a threat, I didn’t mind the way he finished his race off behind Front Page. Miles back in grade/depth, he’s a winning chance.
