Queensland’s feature race meeting will be run at Eagle Farm on Saturday in which we see’s a nine race meeting. The Winter Carnival has finished but there are plenty of races with good value in them.

The current track condition is a Heavy which has depleted a lot of the fields for today’s racing so overall it doesn’t look a great betting meeting.

Race One: Sky Racing Hcp 2200m Form Guide

Back Me: Tuskegee Hawk has been racing in a lower class recently and seems to have found the right range. 3 starts ago she finished 11th in the Ipswich cup after a tough run. Will get the distance and should be winning this.
Don’t Back Me: Clonmacnoise loves the wet ground however won’t be a match for Tuskegee Hawk
Big Danger: No danger as Tuskegee Hawk will be too strong
Roughie: Our Gold Stash get’s in with 52kgs here and could surprise with no weight on on his back.

Race Two: Hidden Dragon @ Lyndhurst Hcp 1600m Form Guide

Back Me: Rusty Colours will appreciate getting out to 1600m after working home well in his last two starts. Drawn to get a nice sit just off the leaders he will be doing his best work late and run over the top of them.
Don’t Back Me: Secret Harmony will have a tough run from barrier 15. He will be posted wide even with good gate speed. Expect him to be going backwards through the pack in the final stages.
Big Danger: Rudy won comfortably last time out by 5L on the heavy going. Stepping up to the mile on Saturday he will go close.
Roughie: Outback Lightning is at a decent price for this. His last two starts he hasn’t been far off the winners and with a good run from barrier 3 and a 2kg claim off his back, he could surprise.

Race Three: Bundaberg Rum Hcp (c6) 1600m Form Guide

Back Me: Viking Heart won on protest last start and needed the 1800m to get to the front. Dropping back down to 1600m, we should see him go back in the field and get a nice cart into the race and do his best work late
Don’t Back Me: Micken lost on protest to Viking Heart last time out. The owners have put apprentice Janette Johnson on board who claims 3kgs and therefore carries 51kg. Although it has the nice weight differential, I expect micken to be held up in traffic from barrier 3 and suggest the apprentice may not know how to handle this.
Big Danger: Ballybit is a New Zealand horse now owned by Robert Heathcote. Only have one trial in Australia it’s pretty hard to line up his form. However he is in the market and that’s enough to suggest he could be value.
Roughie: Triple Oh is a rough chance to win this having placed at half his starts at Eagle Farm. Will enjoy the mile and is a good each way chance

Race Four: Mount Franklin Sparkling Hcp 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Gotitallwrong will be in first few runners on Saturday and will handle the track conditions. Will be leading for a long way and should salute.
Don’t Back Me: Rouvray had all the favours last time out in the heavy conditions. Drawn well and set the tempo to suit himself. Stepping up in class is enough to suggest he won’t be saluting on Saturday.
Big Danger: Stolen Kisses is yet to break through for a win at Eagle Farm. Four attempts at the track and distance for three placings. Only just going doing narrowly last time out over 1400m she will be in the finish again.
Roughie: I’m Busted is having his first start at Eagle Farm after a tough win when posted wide at Doomben last time out. A small weight drop gives him a chance in this.

Race Five: Grinders Hcp (c6) 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: Divine City is first up and has won doing and has won twice over the 1200m. He has good form behind horses like Viking Heart and Someday and should be winning this at a nice price.
Don’t Back Me: De Dozen Stars Doesn’t handle the heavy conditions and is enough to suggest he won’t win this
Big Danger: No danger here as Divine City will be too strong
Roughie: Duke House is the roughest in the field after the scratchings. He placed last time out in the heavy conditions and could improve on that.

Race Six: Bollinger Hcp 1000m Form Guide

Back Me: Lennies Choice failed miserably last time out when stepping up in class. He has won 4 from 5 attempts at the course/distance. He will be leading the whole race and may prove too hard to run down.

Don’t Back Me: Dr Barnard has been racing at Toowoomba and his pattern is to miss the jump. Expect the same again today. Won’t be winning this.
Big Danger: No danger here as Lennies Choice will be too strong
Roughie: Brookton Tiara covered a fair amount of ground at Toowoomba when finishing midfield at her attempt. Runs well on a dead track and has multiple wins over 1000m. Could go close.

Race Seven: Channel Seven Hcp 1200m Form Guide

Back Me: Shafeeq and second up on Saturday and has an excellent record (4:3,0,0) With a 2kg claim from apprentice Kirk Matheson, this front running horse will pinch the race on the turn.
Don’t Back Me: Benny’s Buttons will be on the speed and should finish in the placings. He will be in the first few in running, however 1200m doesn’t appear to be his distance with only one win from 7 attempts. Won’t be winning this.
Big Danger: Metallurgical has been an expensive horse for trainer John Thompson and always promises so much. Help up badly at a crucial stage last time out, with a repeat rand a clear run we can win this.
Roughie: Craiglea Falcon is first up today and has won doing so. Getting in with a light weight here and is an each way chance

Race Eight: Yellowglen Hcp 1600m Form Guide

Back Me: Heza Jetsetter has finally drawn a barrier after his last two wide barrier draws. Will a clear run through traffic he will be too good for this lot having won at the course / distance before.
Don’t Back Me: Ellawisom has had five starts at Eagle Farm for one third. The statistics are against her here and won’t be winning this.
Big Danger: Lady Echelon didn’t appear to handle the heavy conditions in the Sunshine Coast Guineas. Back down in class on Saturday should see him in the finish here.
Roughie: Mishani Edge was buried last on the rail in the Grafton Guineas last start and worked home well. Will be swooping down the outside of the track late and may get up at odds.

Race Nine: X X X X Gold Hcp 1600m Form Guide

Back Me: Casino Card had a tough wide run last time out running on strongly. With a 2kg claim and an inside barrier draw I expect her to be produced at the right time and be too good for this field. Will be winning the ‘get out’ stakes.
Don’t Back Me: Got unders was just run down in the final 50m in the Grafton Guineas. Carrying the same weight you can expect a repeat performance and won’t go close here.
Big Danger: Little Long Horn will be on the speed and will have a gun run from barrier 1. Will love the wet track and will go close.
Roughie: Heart of Many has been backed into $10 from it’s opening quote of $26. Will handle the conditions and the money for him could be correct.
