Adam Page gives us his runner by runner preview and analysis for tomorrow’s Streets Ice Cream Stakes at Flemington racecourse. View his tips.
1. Golden Archer
Did the job well enough to win at Launceston after being spanked by Sepoy in the Blue Diamond Preview prior. From an ideal barrier he’ll be on the speed and although he has to carry 57kg, he’ll be awfully hard to hold out.
2. Vatican
Surprised many with a strong on-pace effort at Sandown to finish within a neck of Atomic. His form before that hadn’t been too bad so I wouldnt rule this son of God’s Own out. A must for exotics
3. Predator
Was even in the Merson Cooper on debut before running a game third to Golden Archer at Flemington back in December. Looked good in a recent Casterton barrier trial. Watch closely.
4. Rockshaft
Was solid on debut at Bendigo then gave his rivals a towelling at Wodonga, leading throughout. Has to jump to city grade but on that last start win, he is sure to be in the thick of things.
5. Decircles
Was even on debut behind Delago’s Lad, however he meets some handy horses here. Happy to watch him.
6. Henshaw
First starter from the Snowden yard. Impressed in a recent barrier trial and any Snowden juvenile has to be respected. Big watch on him.
7. Kid Kobe
Beat Henshaw in the trial mentioned above. Trained by John McArdle and his juveniles can surprise. I’d have something on him for the place.
8. Tallica
Tale Of The Cat gelding on debut for Mark Riley. No trial form so it’s hard to say how he’ll go so check the betting for any moves.
9. Ervbefel
Over time she is going to be a nice filly. Did plenty wrong last start behind Anevay down the straight. She had no idea how to put it together but still hit the line nicely. She has that experience now and is drawn to get a lovely trail.
10. Fortune Of War
First starter by General Nediym for David Hayes. Looked very slick in a trial at Werribee recently. I like her alot. From all reports she is a smart type and if successful she’ll head to Western Australia for the big two-year-old race over there where she is rated as a $41 chance. I’d snap that up quickly because I think she’ll win this and win over there.
11. Retsina
Beautifully bred daughter Redoute’s Choice out of Star Shiraz who was a great race mare a few years back. Based on the breeding alone she is a top chance. 1000m might be a bit short for her but the Freedman camp is going well.
Selections (Not in order): 1 Golden Archer, 6 Henshaw, 9 Ervbefel, 10 Fortune Of War
