2/6/2018 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Rosehill

Sydney racing this Saturday heads to Rosehill for a nine race card. The weather is overcast, the track is good (4) and the rail is out six metres for the entire circuit.

9 Galina (Bet Now: $2.70) looks the one to beat. The Snowden camp have got a huge opinion of her and hard to argue. Beat all bar Eawase first up at Randwick before going to Warwick Farm where it was a hard luck story and arguably should have won with clear air. Bigger track and she should take some beating.

1 Irish Bet (Bet Now: $4.40) is a talented son of Smart Missile that resumes for John O’Shea. He was going to head down the Slipper path but in a couple of lead ups, he was disappointing and didn’t measure up. Been spelled and looked good enough in a recent trial to the eye. Interesting to see what the market does.

4 Celer (Bet Now: $11.00) is a progressive youngster for the Kim Waugh team who has had two career outings. Debuted with a disappointing seventh behind the above average Pretty In Pink before being freshened up, trialling up a storm and bolting up at Wyong. Looks talented and should run well against this lot.

2 Gresham (Bet Now: $2.60) has to go on top. I had him marked down as impossible to trust but I think I’ve been swayed after his win at Canterbury last Wednesday. It was outstanding, sitting near the speed throughout before Shinn pressed the button and he showed a lovely turn of foot to put them away quite comfortably in the end. He can go right on with it now.

6 Chalmers (Bet Now: $9.00) is the x factor. Desperately unlucky first up when beaten a lip by stablemate Juventus before stepping up to 1500m and he kept finding under hard Andrew Gibbons riding to get the win. Showing good promise and wouldn’t surprise to see this horse head north for a race like the Sunny Coast Guineas. I’ll be backing him each way also.

8 Burden Of Proof (Bet Now: $34.00) is a talented filly for the Theresa Bateup team. This girl ran on Nowra Cup Day over 1200m where she got a fair way back off the speed and worked home strongly out wide in the best of the track to run fourth to Flame Of Love. Up in trip looks ideal, should get a soft trip and is a definite for exotics.

8 Brabinger (Bet Now: $3.20) is the big watch here. Kris Lees trains this colt, who is two for two to start his career. Both wins have come on his home track at Newcastle and while he hasn’t beaten much, the manner in which he has been doing it has been quite impressive and he has run solid time each start relative to the respective meeting. Shocked if he didn’t measure up.

4 Charlayne (Bet Now: $5.00) is the best horse in the race but she is just doing a bit wrong which isn’t attractive to watch. Loomed large to win here a fortnight back but didn’t want to flatten out and run straight and in the end that probably cost her the win over Epidemic. Up to 1200m with the run under the belt, she’s well placed.

1 Curdled (Bet Now: $9.00) is a Gerald Ryan trained gelding that is second up here. He resumed in the Epidemic race mentioned above where he was well backed late and tried hard but had to settle for a close up fourth, beaten just under a length. Should get a lovely run just off the pace and Angland is riding in fab form.

10 Andy’s A Star (Bet Now: $7.50) on top for me in what looks a really good Highway. Debuted with an outstanding win at Dubbo when wide throughout before going to Parkes where the track pattern was against him but I thought he did a great job in defeat. 1400m on the big track looks ideal and looks one of the hardest to beat.

1 Radiant Choice (Bet Now: $4.80) is a former Team Hawkes trained three year old who has had a couple of runs now for Stirling Osland and looks well placed here. Ben Looker gave him a peach on speed last time out at Tamworth and the horse absolutely bolted in. McDonald on a good lead and maps well.

5 Haames (Bet Now: $18.00) is the knockout runner. Colt Prosser trains this three year old, and he will run a strong 1400m. He ran over the Taree mile last time out and if you were on, it would have been a hard watch, but he thankfully got clear and finished best to get the win. If the breaks come his way, he can threaten.

1 New Tipperary (Bet Now: $3.90) for me. This horse was well backed when racing in the Scone Cup last time out but if you were on, gee it was a tough watch. He was bolting behind them and just couldn’t get any luck in the straight. 1800m second up looks ideal for this Joe Pride galloper and I’m happy to be in his corner.

10 Dagny (Bet Now: $4.60) looks to be ticking over quite nicely for the Chris Waller yard and third up at 1800m, she looks ready to show her best. Ran over 1500m at Rosehill last start and worked home strongly from the back to run a close up fourth to King Darci. Good record beyond the mile and has upside.

2 Lubiton (Bet Now: $11.00) is another that could sharply improve. Attempted to lead all the way in the Scone Cup last time out and did cop a bit of pressure on speed. Just felt the pinch late and I think now she’s hard fit, and she does have a touch of class and quality on her side. Just needs a soft sectional on speed.

1 Magic Alibi (Bet Now: $7.50) is a quality mare for Gerald Ryan who has had two runs back from a spell. Resumed with a close up fourth to Epidemic before getting too far back behind Missile Coda. Back to mares grade now and draws a sweet gate so she should get run of the race stuff. Depends if the desire is there.

8 Queen Misty (Bet Now: $11.00) is another that can be hard to trust but I reckon she could add some value to exotics with the right run. Resumed at the Warwick Farm midweeks over 1200m and for mine just looked in need of the run and didn’t get the best of luck in the straight behind It’s Time For Magic. Goes well second up and likes racing here.

2 Our Belisa (Bet Now: $12.00) looks a knockout chance. She was kept solid in betting when resuming at this track/distance two weeks back but just looked in need of the run in the end when midfield behind I Am Serious. Goes much better second up and the depth engaged here compared to the resumption isn’t as strong at all, so she can bounce back.

2 I Am Serious (Bet Now: $2.00) looks the one to beat. Tempo was too hot for her first up but she bounced back in a big way a fortnight back over 1400m here when spanking her rivals under James McDonald, really putting them away with ease once he pulled her out into clear on the turn. Looking for further, which she gets, and has upside to come.

3 King Viv (Bet Now: $9.00) is an interesting runner. Kim Waugh trains this galloper, who resumes here. Created a decent impression around this time last year, winning a few races and showing good city class ability. Has been given a couple of solid trials to prepare for his return and as we know, stable is low flying.

10 Chatelard (Bet Now: $13.00) is a Chris Waller trained gelding that is first up here. The Summer prep was a bit off as a whole and certainly a shadow of what he produced in his first prep. If he’s right, I think he runs very well here, and his trial here last week looked good to the eye. I think market will be the guide.

This is the easiest race that 4 Mister Sea Wolf (Bet Now: $7.00) has contested since arriving in Australia, so this is D-Day for him to see if he’s any good. Hasn’t raced since the Hawkesbury Cup when sitting back in a slowly run affair and not coming on. Freshened up and looked to trial well last week. Speed should be on and McDonald steers. One last chance.

7 Special Missile (Bet Now: $4.00) is racing really well at the moment for the John Thompson team but just can’t quite crack it for a win. Ran over 1500m here a fortnight ago where I thought Shinn gave him every chance off the speed but he couldn’t get past King Darci. If he can dominate from the front, he’ll take some beating.

2 Grande Rosso (Bet Now: $16.00) was the street corner tip in the Luskin Star during the Scone Carnival in his first run for the Snowden camp but was wide no cover throughout in a total forgive behind Osborne Bulls. Very good second up record, just needs the track to dry up. If it does, he’s right in the game and has upside.

9 Difficult To Get (Bet Now: $5.00) looks the one to beat in the get out. Jeff Englebrecht trains this mare, who is first up. Her Summer/Autumn prep was very good overall, racing quite consistently. She is an absolute bomb when produced fresh, likes Rosehill and her two trials leading in have been outstanding. Gets map favours and looks the safe play.

4 Nictock (Bet Now: $6.00) is a very good galloper for Cameron Crockett who is first up here and for mine he is a big, big watch. For me, first up in town tells me there is intent to run well first up and the two trials leading in have been very sharp, and when the stable bring them to town, respect them big time.

1 Bolero King (Bet Now: $12.00) is a beauty for the Clarry Conners team. He hasn’t raced for a month since racing over 1350m here in a much stronger race where he did a bit of work on speed and tired late behind Tougherthantherest. Back to 1100m fresh a big tick and is a proven weight carrier so the 61.5kg no issue for mine.

BEST BET: Race Seven Number 2 I Am Serious

NEXT BEST: Race Five Number 1 New Tipperary

LONG SHOT: Race Four Number 10 Andy’s A Star
