2/11/2019 Horse Racing Tips and Best Bets – Rosehill, Golden Eagle day

Feature racing returns to Rosehill this Saturday where it is Golden Eagle Day, the first ever running of the 1500m contest, worth $7.5 Million. The weather is fine, the track is good (4) and the rail is in the true position for the entire circuit.

There is a bit of depth to this line up, but I can’t get out of my head the win of 11 Indy Car (Bet Now: $5.00 TOP ODDS) on debut. It was just outstanding, savaging the line from the back when Wolfgram put the whip in the right hand to straighten him up and he just motored past them like a good horse. Stable sends him straight to Saturday grade and Tommy Berry takes over. Keen to see if he can measure up.

2 Rule The World (Bet Now: $4.00 TOP ODDS) is an interesting runner. He resumes for the WaterBott stable after kicking off his career in the Winter with two wins from as many starts, the second start coming at Randwick when beating Betcha Flying, who was one of the hardest to beat here prior to being scratched. Trials have been good, blinkers on and gets run of the race potentially behind stablemate Faretti.

5 Grand Piano (Bet Now: $9.00 TOP ODDS) should be suited up to 1400m for John Thompson. He hasn’t raced for a few weeks since contesting a 3YO race over 1200m at Warwick Farm when sitting off a moderate tempo and chasing hard to run third. Gets a suck run from the inside gate here and appears as though 1400m will be ideal. Think he’ll run a positive race at odds.

Race is wide open now with Luna Mia out. Having a throw at the stumps each way with 13 Hard Merchandise (Bet Now: $15.00 TOP ODDS), who is finding it hard to greet the judge, but at the same time, is racing well. He ran at Port Macquarie last start when lumping 59kg and chasing hard, finding the front, looking home, but was nabbed late. Tumbles in weight, like him up to 1200m, and if he can hold the back of likely leader Fearnley, gee I think he’ll run a positive race at odds.

4 Zardoro (Bet Now: $6.00 TOP ODDS) is somewhat of a Highway specialist who resumed two weeks ago in a Randwick Highway and gee it was an ugly watch if you were on. Could make a case he should have gone close to winning but just had no luck in the straight when seemingly having plenty to offer. Fitter, likes racing at Rosehill and hopefully can get clear air from the outset.

6 Gumshoe (Bet Now: $8.50 TOP ODDS) is an improver at odds. Marc Quinn trains this gelding, who resumed in the Highway mentioned above two weeks ago at Randwick where he was wide with cover before presenting wider and finishing off okay without really threatening. Don’t think this Highway is that much stronger and with the run under the belt, he should be better off.

She’s a bet here 4 Strome (Bet Now: $8.00 TOP ODDS). She was relatively unwanted in betting when resuming over 1200m at Randwick several weeks ago when back near last in the run and never really a winning threat, but did make ground late and produced decent late splits behind Signore Fox. Liked the trial win last week at Warwick Farm and with a good tempo in front, I think she’ll take some beating against this lot.

Does 1 Asterius (Bet Now: $3.40 TOP ODDS) need one more run? Resumed over 1400m at Randwick three weeks ago when back in an on pace dominated affair and found the line quite well late despite parading like a horse who would need the run. He’s stepping up in trip, but is 100m enough? Does he want further? Time will tell, but he did bolt up at this track/distance second up last prep.

He hasn’t won in over two years but I’m quite keen here on 9 Super Star Bob (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS) running well. He is three weeks between runs since racing over 1400m at Randwick where he was back in the run and looked to race a bit keen, but still finished off alright behind Greyworm, who won again last Saturday to tick that form. Like him up to 1500m and should get run of the race from gate one.

This is the easiest race that 1 Sandbar (Bet Now: $7.00 TOP ODDS) has contested for a long, long time. He has contested blacktype company since after his debut, and his form is riddled with Group form and did run fourth in the Golden Rose last year, so the form just reads far superior to anything. Resumed in the Sydney Stakes when wide throughout and never in the hunt behind Deprive. Gate one, stalks Agent Pippa, hard to beat.

5 Beau Ideal (Bet Now: $4.20 TOP ODDS) is a working progress for James Cummings and a win wouldn’t entirely shock. He comes back to 1100m after racing over 1200m a few weeks ago when getting into a reasonable spot whilst doing work in the run and kept finding the line in a good effort behind Signore Fox. He’s working up to win I think ala Cascadian from two weeks back. Knockout chance.

3 Akasaki (Bet Now: $15.00 TOP ODDS) has been a ripper for Stephen Jones for a few seasons now. He resumed with a strong win in the Hurricane at Newcastle before going to Warwick Farm where they used gate one, and that probably took the finale out of him but still ran well for third. He’s better ridden cold and with the claim for Williams, he’s the one that looks overs at the double figures.

Little query at 1200m, but run of the race stuff has leaned me the way of 2 Miss Invincible (Bet Now: $4.20). She ran over 1100m at Randwick three weeks ago where she sat on speed and tried hard but couldn’t go with Agent Pippa, who led all the way and was impressive. 1200m I have doubts over, but she gets the A1 run in transit behind Dance Hall Girl and Nash remains on.

8 Jen Rules (Bet Now: $6.50) is a Redoute’s Choice mare for the Snowden camp that resumes. This girl has showed talent throughout her career and for the most part has contested some blacktype company. Finds a winnable race here fresh and her two trials leading in have been quite encouraging, so keen to see how she goes but I think watch the market and see what she does.

10 Eveleigh (Bet Now: $10.00) is racing really well at the moment for Joe Pride. Finished best to win two back at Kembla in a race which has produced five winners, so that form reads very well. Then went to Wyong and gee she showed good change up speed when clear to continue her winning ways. She is right down in the weights, gets a soft run in transit…definite chance.

7 Chapada (Bet Now: $7.00) is better than these isn’t he? Looked in need of the run fresh at Caulfield behind Admiral’s Joker in a race which has proven to be a good form reference with a couple of Stakes winners to come out of it. He then went to the Seymour Cup when on speed and gave a good kick but no match late for Admiral’s Joker again. Up to a more ideal trip, and the lack of overall depth, gee I think he’s a good bet.

10 Antilles (Bet Now: $5.50) is the unknown. It’s clear from the replays he has got no turn of foot, but will stay all day, as seen in the Gallinule behind Constantinople then in the Diamond Stakes at Dundalk over a staying trip on the Synthetic surface. If he’s to win, I reckon he will want a strongly run 2000m contest. If it becomes a sit/sprint, then he’s no chance I suspect.

Going to include 11 Emperor’s Way (Bet Now: $12.00) for Team Snowden. This bloke has had two runs back from a break, the latest coming over the mile two weeks ago at Randwick over the mile when held up at times but loved the way he closed off behind Cascadian. He’ll eat up 2000m and likes racing at Rosehill plus gets decent weight relief. He’ll run well I think at a price.

Forgiving a good horse for one poor run and will be doing that with 15 Arcadia Queen (Bet Now: $3.60). I want to be very forgiving of her run in the Everest. On face value, she was ordinary, but did cop a nasty check early on in the straight and that just took the stuffing out of her. Like her up to a more ideal trip in 1500m and third up, she’s at peak fitness and her best is better than these. Just hope she produces it.

Enormous respect to 2 Classique Legend (Bet Now: $6.00). He was surprisingly unwanted in betting in the Everest but gee he ran a beauty in defeat and you could make a case he should have gone close to placing. Just had no luck in the straight when full of running and Nash just didn’t get clear until it was race over. He’s looking like he will eat up 1500m and will be hard to beat.

The one at odds I like is 13 I Am Superman (Bet Now: $101.00). He’s the best hope of the overseas brigade. His best chance of running a positive race will be getting an economical run in transit. If he can get that, go to sleep, get cover and show that turn of foot of his. He’d a top five chance if that eventuates because the form around him does read quite well to run a good race here.

In the corner of 1 Pierata (Bet Now: $2.90). He comes through the Everest where he was unlucky in the straight and should have finished closer behind Yes Yes Yes, but couldn’t get the clear air to build the revs, which is when he is at his best. Big tick is the drop in depth and stepping out to 1300m, because he does seem a horse who is more effective beyond 1200m.

6 Deprive (Bet Now: $7.00) is a really good animal for James Cummings, but his best efforts have come at Randwick. Now needs to produce it at Rosehill. He comes through the Sydney Stakes where he was back with cover before unleashing a powerful finishing burst and just getting the better of the Champagne Cuddles in a ripping finish. Been up a little while but is racing so well.

7 Brave Song (Bet Now: $19.00) is a knockout chance here I feel. He comes through the Sydney Stakes where nothing really went right for him in the straight when seemingly having something to offer and should have finished much closer behind Deprive. He’s getting out to a more ideal trip here and if he can get clear air early, he’s good enough to run a positive race.

Giving 1 Spring Charlie (Bet Now: $7.50) another look because is best is better than these. He is second up for Kim Waugh after resuming on Port Macquarie Cup Day where he was wide no cover throughout but was a beaten horse on the turn and was awful when last to Grimoire. Pulled up with a poor post race recovery and Aaron Bullock told Stewards the horse was breathing poorly and felt average. Sent to the trials again and went impressively, like he did prior to the resumption. If he’s right, he wins.

Despite a break between runs, 3 Outrageous (Bet Now: $2.35) is one of the leading chances. He resumed at Randwick over 1200m when four wide no cover and was entitled to drop away and kept finding in a really good effort behind Signore Fox. Back to 78 grade and back on his home track, plus with that excellent form line from first up, has to rate highly against these.

5 Destiny’s Own (Bet Now: $19.00) is a son of Sepoy for Gerald Ryan that resumes. He has showed good talent throughout his career but consistency hasn’t been his strong point. Is first up here but I thought his trial behind leading Golden Eagle contender Kolding was very good I thought, and he draws gate one, so a decent showing fresh is certainly not out of the question.

LONG SHOT: Race Three Number 4 Strome
