Race One (13:00) : Equiano- King Of Speed Handicap 900m Form Guide

Back Me: Plenty to like about the trial win of Beau Rada (Best Odds: $6.50) recently at Cranbourne, sitting on the speed before drawing clear late, and running good time for the journey. Form looks very good from the Spring, and if he can overcome the wide barrier, he should be too good for these.
Big Danger: All Sewn Up (Best Odds: $4.80) looks the threat. She also raced well during the Spring in a couple of nice races. She has the barrier draw advantage and the weight pull.
Roughie: Raischeck (Best Odds: $3.00) is beautifully bred by Mossman out of a Desert Prince mare. That’ll suggest she’ll be better suited over further, but Mick Price is having a good run with his youngsters.

Race Two (13:35) : Perri Cutten Blue Diamond Fashion Stakes Maiden Plate 1800m Form Guide

Back Me: Really good maiden race with plenty of depth engaged from the leading trainers. I’m putting Rasa Lila (Best Odds: $7.50) on top. Her first two runs at Bendigo and Werribee were very good behind a couple of good types, then raced again at Werribee and had no luck at all when third to Silk And Diamonds, who franked that form by running well at Kyneton on Monday. Big track, 1800m…perfect.
Big Danger: Lamentations (Best Odds: $5.50) has had two runs now back from a break. First up ran a strong third to stablemate Saguaro at Cranbourne, then had no luck at Mornington when searching for a run on the turn. He is a big striding horse who needs to build up momentum and he should be allowed to do that here.
Roughie: The bigger track should also suit Kansha (Best Odds: $4.00), who was well backed last time out at the Valley, but didn’t appear comfortable and was a well held fourth. I can see this son of Postponed sharply improving here.

Race Three (14:10) : Welcome Back To Sportingbet Park Handicap (64) 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Written (Best Odds: $3.10) has been well backed at her past two outings at Mornington. Got the bikkies two back, bolting in after leading, then wasn’t given the best of rides by Katelyn Mallyon last week, sitting wide with no cover throughout. Great effort by the horse to be beaten just over four lengths, so provided she has taken no harm from that run, and with Jackie Berimian, who won on the filly two back, back on board, she’ll be hard to beat.
Big Danger: Bearish (Best Odds: $10.00) is the interesting runner. Had two runs back in the Spring, flying home from last to win on debut at Seymour before bumping into a smart type in Tips And Beers at Caulfield on Thousand Guineas Day. Hasn’t been asked to do much in two barrier trials to prepare for this, but she looks a very likely customer and Rodd is booked.
Roughie: Akagera (Best Odds: $8.00)  is first up here after failing in the Ethereal Stakes on Caulfield Cup Day. Her best form will be around that distance range, so whatever she does here, she will improve on, but does have the class factor.

Race Four (14:45) : #Charliesminimoments Handicap (70) 1000m Form Guide

Back Me: Really good race for the three year olds. I’m keen to have a look at Tansy (Best Odds: $4.00) and see what he can do in town. Had one run with Gai Waterhouse and finished unplaced at Kembla. Went to Byron Cozamanis and resumed at Werribee, when narrowly beaten by stakes peformer Hard Stride, then went to Stony Creek and made a mess of them, winning by seven without being extended. Meets several handy types here, but he has upside and improvement, and I’ll have something on him each way.
Big Danger: Best horse in the race is clearly Chloe In Paris (Best Odds: $2.75), having excellent form around Kiss A Rose, Metastasio and Anatina in stakes company. Trialled twice to prepare for this, and has looked very good. I anticipate she’ll be very short in betting, and that is a risk for a horse who has drawn wide, carries 1kg under the maximum, first up and is yet to win a race. Yes, I concede she’ll be very hard to beat, but from a betting point of view, she won’t have my money.
Roughie: Also interested to see how Paddy’s Gem (Best Odds: $13.00) lines up here. Took the scalp of Black Caviar’s sister Belle Couture on debut at Bendigo, then loomed to win at Flemington, but just died on the run late behind Spirits Dance, who has since gone on to win at Stakes level. The talent and ability is there, and coming back to 1000m fresh looks ideal.

Race Five (15:20) : MiStable Handicap (70) 1500m Form Guide

Back Me: Pyrrolic (Best Odds: $2.60) for me. Very impressive winner on the Lakeside track in May, winning comfortably without being fully extended. Went amiss during the Spring, came back and resumed with an encouraging seventh in the Autumn Stakes, where he got back and copped the backwash of a messy final 300m of the race. But it proved he has come back in good order, and coming back to midweek level gives him the chance to get a confidence boost and go on to the better class races.
Big Danger: Megamind (Best Odds: $34.00) looks a real up and comer for Robbie Griffiths. Should have won on debut at Warrnambool, then took care of a handy field at Sale quite comfortably despite wanting to do plenty wrong. Freshened up, went to the trials recently and hit the line nicely late. He’ll get back, but look for him to charge late.
Roughie: Gallant Express (Best Odds: $21.00) ran a couple of strong races at Caulfield during the Winter of last year without being disgraced behind some handy types in Lord Of The Sky and Monkstone. Resumed at the Valley and wasn’t suited, then got his maiden win at Cranbourne, being ridden upside down, then went back to the Valley and again wasn’t comfortable. The bigger tracks are his go, and with a sit off the pace, he can certainly beat these without surprising.

Race Six (16:00) : Sportingbet Best Tote Plus 5% Handicap (78) 1400m Form Guide

Back Me: Edgewood (Best Odds: $6.50) might have got the confidence boost he needed last time out at Sale albeit he only won in the last stride. He ran some excellent races at Flemington prior to that win in much harder company than this. If he can jump cleanly and find a spot midfield, with cover, he can unleash a powerful finishing burst to beat these.
Big Danger: Union Gap (Best Odds: $7.00) has been a frustrating horse to follow given he showed great promise early on his career, but he really caught the eye late when a close up fifth at the Valley to Sino Eagle. Gets back to a bigger track and Williams takes the ride.
Roughie: Red Inca (Best Odds: $14.00) raced very well during the Spring without winning, with his best effort being a narrow third in a race during Cup week. He can sprint very well fresh, and this is the easiest race he has contested in a long time.

Race Seven (16:40) : Guinot International Handicap (70) 1300m Form Guide

Back Me: Putting Not A Llama (Best Odds: $3.00) on top. Showed a sharp turn of foot to get the job done on debut at Warrnambool, then was ridden a touch too close to the speed when a close up fourth to the subsequent stakes placed Whistle Baby before getting a very easy kill at Geelong, aided by a peach from Olly, who sticks with this progressive filly. Happy to be in her corner.
Big Danger: Duet (Best Odds: $10.00) was a lethal first up winner at the Valley, and has been very good in three runs since without winning. She is looking for a spacious track, which she gets here, and won’t get pocketed from the wide barrier. Hard to beat.
Roughie: Sell In May (Best Odds: $11.00) was first up since August when settling near last and poking her way through the field late for an eye catching fourth at the Valley behind Royal Scandal. On her best form, she is a massive threat here, but she has had her issues.

Race Eight (17:20) : Le Pines Funerals Handicap (70) 1800m Form Guide

Back Me: Tooleybuc Kid (Best Odds: $5.50) has been a very frustrating horse to follow this time in, and was most disappointing as a very short priced favourite at Ararat last time out. But the blinkers go on for the first time, so that could do the trick. Talent is there, but he isn’t putting it together this prep.
Big Danger: Stroemsky (Best Odds: $12.00) had his excuses last time out at Caulfield, getting held up near the inside and trying to take runs between horses, which isn’t his go, as stated in the Stewards Report. He is drawn wide now, which suits, and he gets out to an ideal trip.
Roughie: Space (Best Odds: $11.00) ran a good race first up at Echuca, then was a major flop at Geelong, where he came off the bit a fair way from home. I’ll put that down to the second up syndrome and give him another chance here given he steps up in distance, which should suit.
